ive seen a trend of people spilling family recipes because their relatives are horrible people, so i’m spilling my racist grandma’s recipe for zost. if you’ve never had zost it’s like a sauce you put on waffles that tastes like sweet vanilla pudding, it’s a mennonite dish we eat whenever there’s a special occasion but you can honestly make it whenever.
it takes a lot of practice to make it right but it’s so tasty, if you’re any good at cooking give it a shot. here’s the recipe:
3/4 cup sugar
4 cups milk
1 tablespoon of butter
1/4 cup cornstarch
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
heat the milk until boiling, add half the sugar, mix and then add the rest. add cornstarch and stir until thick. add butter and vanilla and stir. add more vanilla as needed to make it sweeter. drizzle it over waffles as thickly as you like. mahlzeit
