I have a few update posts planned for the next couple of months and I wanted to start with this one as I thought about it back in summer. After testing Zyderma on my sister’s acne - and if you read the review I wrote in May, you will know that it was a huge success -, I started wondering if it could be good for some of my own concerns.
And these concerns are more often than not a result of hair removal. Be it because of waxing or shaving, I always find my skin irritated afterwards. Sometimes, particularly on sensitive areas, I have angry red bumps that can eventually become infected because my skin is great like that. So I thought about incorporating Zyderma to my hair removal routines. What I did was exfoliate as usual (softly of course as sensitive skin can’t take rough exfoliation) and apply Zyderma on the most sensitive areas a few days before and after hair removal. I think the before part was good, but after different trials, I found that the most crucial factor is applying cream for a week after hair removal.
I have tracked overall redness and irritation, red bumps, ingrown hairs and infected spots. Everything but the ingrown hairs has improved - and I believe these are more related to my skin and body hair quality in general. So there’s a lot to celebrate! The redness doesn’t last as long so the irritation is more of an increased sensitivity now. The red bumps are smaller and less angry, and I have had just one infected spot since starting the experiment.
I have been recommending this cream to everyone I know that has acne problems (some of them are already on isotretinoin), and now I can safely recommend it as a post hair removal cream too. If you haven’t already, read my previous review (with acne in mind) and check Zyderma’s website to find much more information about this silver wonder!
