Welcome to the yapblog where I yap everything JSAB!Tainted ^_^
Let's get some things out of the way so there's no later confusion: Yes, I will eventually continue the comic. It will be primarily on DeviantArt until I feel like posting it here as well! (DeviantArt LINK 🔗)
Yes, asks are open here, which means if you want to learn anything specific about my au, ASK! Yes, you may be inspired off my world building, I DO NOT CARE.
You can also either ask me upfront about lore, or you can interact with the canon jsab cast/my jsab ocs!! (They all coexist in the same timeline)
PLEASE DO NOT
Copy word for word, feed to any AI, claim any works of mine as your own, be crude in comments/asks/reposts etc., pressure for content.
REMINDER
I will be as active as possible, just remember there are other interests/fandoms that I fixate on other than JSAB. I yap EXTENSIVELY, so if you're not into excruciatingly long notes, be warned. If I do not get to your ask right away, I am taking my sweet time finding the awesomest way to answer your query♥️
When I was first making JSAB!T, I had no idea how to write a story lol. And to be frank, it wasn't even about Cube, Blixx, or any of the heroes really! My 4-year project begun with my JSAB ocs. So when it came time to scratch everything and start anew? Hahahahaha...
LYCAN Is my favorite character to write and draw. He's a goof, laid back, and overall just a chill guy! But that's who he is now! Who was he before? Honestly, still the exact same, but with less attitude.
What I once thought was perfect writing was still incredibly flawed in parts; many potholes, dry conversation, and some cringeworthy moments that make me gag to this day. But fret not, I know how to write now, teehee! Lycan evolved from the polite village boy who just wanted to give everyone a helping hand. Rather - now - Lycan is the isolated Flower of the pack, the soloist who has a tough outer shell, but a secret soft inner spot reserved for only the select few he trusts to be so close (i.e, Blixx and Barracuda). He's not screwing around this time!
In-game, we're first introduced to him (them/she/it, whatever!) as just an average flower/plant looking shape, a wiggly cactus! Then in comes Blixer with the triangle, slam dunking the Treeangle into the volcano, causing the waters to corrupt. But in JSAB!T, Lycan was corrupt long before Blixx could get a grasp on the concept of corruption! How did this happen? Well, that's a secret for the far far far future!
Pre-New Game, Lycan lives in the woodlands of Rhodonite Plains, deep in the thick of large red trees and away from all civilization. He's not a yapper - not too much - but Lycan could entertain a passersby if they're offering him something valuable (Trinkets, food, clothes etc.). This is his norm, the everyday routine of hunt, eat, nap all day, then laze about!
Pos-New Game, Lycan is still the same pragmatic, nonchalant but still sensible Shape that follows Blixx now, acting as her Right Hand Man and (Cough...) friend. Barracuda naturally would have been Blixx's RHM, but she entrusts Lycan more given his opinions aren't forged by the input of others, thankful for his very raw, sometimes brutal honesty.
He may be less strategic than Barracuda in combat and less tech savvy than Blixx with her artillery, but he's got bite; less bark, MORE BITE!
Author: Hi here! Just wanna quickly say I apologize for my near 2 month absence! But I'm back, and I quickly wanna talk about why I made a specific (and CLOSED) shape species called "Beast"
Beast Shapes are a closed species that only exist to the Annihilate Tree (Aka the Annihilate family/descendants etc.). This includes Annihilate himself, Blixx, and Barracuda. These three are what I deem "Beast Shapes": the blood of Beasts dating back to the first monstrous shape to ever be created in Paradise. Deep within the civilized, tamed part of themselves, Blixx and Barracuda have a more animalistic, cynical side that only ruptures/awakens when throughly provoked or threatened by another shape. It's a survival response in dire situations, rarely called upon but very effective in making others stand down before the going gets tough.
🌸In JSAB!T au, Blixx's reliance on her Beast mode (Hardcore mode) gives her more spider-like appendages, making her much more agile and flexible with artillery and dodge work.
🌸Barracuda himself rarely relies on his physical strength, utilizing his strategies more than brute force, but he too (When in Hardcore mode), has extra enhancements. He's the singular of the Cannon siblings to not undergo physical changes, but control and connection between him and snakes are even stronger.
🌸Annihilate is a behemoth, and even when out of Hardcore mode, he's a hassle to tackle - ranging from 9ft to 10ft (274.32 centi min). In his further down Beast mode, his body trades humanized limbs for a full elongated and massive centipede body (Longer than the Tower if he were to be stretched out like string). It's a much more destructive form, faster and deadlier, but his one blaring weakness in this form is he's a massive target.
That be it! Hope you enjoy this lil sprinkle of lore 😋
I try not and animalize shapes by saying "species", but dude, what else am I gonna put hehe...ohboydon'tgrillmeforthat
Commoners:
No special traits, seen as "basic" or normal on the surface. Have 1-3 eyes, no extra limbs, are the most "unique" ironically. Commoners are more "rare" than the hybrids you'd meet in Citrine Plaza and Purple Tourma.
Aquatics:
Fin/coral/seaside related traits. There are several types of Aquatics, serving as an umbrella term when addressing the mass. There are saltwaters, freshwaters, coral, and Seasiders. Both salt + freshwaters have parts of their body that morph in and out of water, allowing brief access to land when not exposed to their element. [Ex: Lunar Whale is a merman, but can come to land just fine with legs that appear when out of water]. If rainfall is present, all salts and fresh must either retreat home, or utilize umbrellas/heavy coverage. Coral are allowed to stay on land, but have a need to hydrate more frequently due to the coral that grows on their bodies naturally. Seasiders are crossbred, an Aqua-Comm hybrid that carries Aquatic traits, but has been raised the same as a commoner, losing touch with most of Aquatic culture, but never apart from it. Some have themes of the beach in their clothes, very proud and still clinging to their ethnicity. Others have humoring hints, like Ketches and her boat-shaped head.
Botanics:
All Botanics have a name relating to a real existing bloom, fun fact! [Ex: First Crush -> Aster, Aster's Mom "Rose", Aster's Grandmother "Daffodil"]. Most either have a flower growing on them in a convenient place for decor (Head, neck, wrist), or they wear floral accents and spring-time related fashion. They are the most vibrant and blossoming in color, especially glowing when it's a rainy day. Another fun fact, Botanics don't like when they're offered flowers as a gift, they see it as an act of violence on their kind. In addition, Botanics love the rain and sunlight, they never need an umbrella unless for snow days.
Ghosts:
Boney and wispy, or even both simultaneously! They are muted in color and either have souless eyes or a black sclera with white pupils. The extent of bone exposure can vary, no conditional needs required to achieve a "look". [Ex: Deadlocked has fully exposed bony arms, Macabre's only show of bone exposure is in his fingers]. There's also a common theme of "flaming heads" in the Ghost community, in the colors of blue, purple, and green.
Spiders:
Have 4-6 eyes, do carry extra limbs, also share a likeness with the Botanics to name themselves after varying types of arachnids. [Ex: Silk, Lynx, Widow, Orb, etc.] Eyesight and visual of eyes depends on place of nurturing, some Spiders blind, others not. Spiders living in Basra Top caves are known to go blind after their first few weeks of nurture. Those exposed to sunlight have visible pupils. What's more, there are some who carry large abdomens in replacement of regular two legs.
Beasts:
A category solely from the birthing of "Annihilate", and the family that came after the God of Corruption. Take on more monster-like forms of preexisting animals, all relating to those who could inflict poison. [Annihilate: Centipedes. Blixx: Spiders. Barracuda: Snakes]. Their secondary forms are exposed with the influence of treeangles, gaining sharper, more amalgamated appearances. Blixx is example for least controlled while Annihilate is most controlled in their capabilities of fully breaking into secondary [Hardcore] modes.
Cosmics:
Outerspace themes are written all over them like a sign that says "stop", it's blatantly clear when you first meet them. Star-shaped head (or a circle with a halo resembling the rings of a planet), some even with stripes or spots that resemble craters. Rather than producing body "heat", Cosmics produce body "cool", natural for those who were born to the freezing climates of what's outside the exosphere. They cannot handle warm weather well, therefore they're forced to dress down a lot when visiting the lower island, even wear a higher level of sunscreen for maximum protection.
Considering my embarrassing absence, I owe y'all random facts no one asked for! 😋
🩵Cube's full name, "Cubethemos" (Cu-beth-e-mos) was chosen by Moon! Longer names back when were more valued and treasured in a "significant/important" way, showing the parents saw immense potential in their child. Ofc, it's only a traditional practice, lots of parents love even their 3-lettered names (Like Sam, Zac, Joe etc.)
💚Olive's father is a doctor! As such, it inspired Olive to take on a motherly, "protective" role in the hero squad, wanting to care for them the same her father's saved hundreds of other shape lives.
🩷Lycan's lore was changed from being a member of the Plant Clan to now being considered "The Outcast" of the clan. His personality altered the more I wrote snippets, going from patient and thoughtful to skeptic and shifty.
⚙️Cubelos is a side of Cube he can phase in and out of once he's learnt how the corruption fully works! With the help of Blixx (Some part deep in the Tainted comic), Cube can utilize his corrupt capabilities in beneficial ways!
Ever wonder what's up above the islands of Paradise? That's right, there's another land that floats up in the heavens, in the stars of the universe! Up here, there are Cosmic Shapes that exist! This region is "Lexan Stars", inhabited by the famous Houston, and plenty of other well known faces! (Chronos, Milky Ways, Lunar Whale, etc.)
So is the hierarchy here the same as down on the islands? Semi! The structure is all the same, but with extra tiers thanks to the political viewpoints. From lowest to top:
Commoners -> Champions -> Grand Fates/Royals -> President
Houston is the President/Demigod of Lexan Stars, thus, he's the top of the chain! He founded Lexan, named it, even rallied the Cosmics together to live here instead of Khooni Ocean. Time works differently here of course, being closer to the Sun which means a faster orbit/shorter days - Hard to tell anyways since the sky from Lexan is always starry. Below Houston is Prince Quake and The Grand Fates, a shared tier for those with political power. Prince Quake is the Prince of Time and Stars, a gifted trait thanks to Houston. The Grand Fates are the Judges of Justice and Order, running the Court at Lexan's center.
There are no Heroes nor Bosses in Lexan Stars because those are below in the islands protecting the Tree. There is no Tree up in Lexan, but there is an equal power called "Brightest Star", a symbol of hope forged by the shapes who believe with all their heart for better times.
How do shapes from the islands below visit Lexan?
It first has to be approved of by Houston himself! Some shapes get special pardons like delivery services or those who work with transportation (Heli has special pardons since he works parcel deliveries). Once approved by Houston, shapes get an allotted time for their stay (Usually ranging from a week long to a few months, esp if it involves official work business/vacations).
Inverse, when Cosmic shapes visit the lower regions of Paradise, they commonly reset themselves with a mid-afternoon nap to get adjusted with the timezone! And likewise, Cosmics get an allotted time for their visits, having to do with the heat of the islands being overbearing to Cosmic bodies. Basic sunscreen however can protect them!
And that's the brief lore dump for Lexan Stars! More can come a later time, I'll be sure to link it back to this note for future reference
(HAHA, get it? Heli? Because he's a Guardian...? No? Alright fine -cries about it-/sil) Let's dive into each of them one by one ^_^
Cube, Guardian of the Lands
Before coming into his role as a Demigod, Cube was stationed by his parents to become a Guardian! This duty was less stressing than a God, and since Cube was/is still young, he took his time as a Guardian figuring himself out. He watches over not only the island itself, but The Tree too, making sure it's in pristine condition. Fun fact, he's also the second to last to earn a secondary title as Guardian! It's thanks to Moon and Sun that Cube also found his first friends and future partners!
Heli, Guardian of the Skies
He's the second generation of his family, taking over after his father got too old to continue his services any longer (Don't worry, Heli's dad is still very much alive, as is his mother!). Besides observing the skies for any unusual weather patterns, Heli also specializes in deliveries between Basra Tops and the lower-level zones of Paradise. Sure, you could get the Speed Hero, Auric on that, but that's a man who's tiring his legs to and from! Heli's propellers never tire! In fact, they're detachable as well, pops them right off when he wants to sleep comfortably. Oh, and he's not-so-secretly crushing on this one guy called Lightspeed hehe..
Ketches, Guardian of the Seas
Ketches, the 1st Guardian of the Seas; Second to earn a Guardian role! Her story was a rough storm at seas, cruising in the darkness, charting a rocky highway with roads twisting to the skies. The legendary tale of her fighting back a kraken and saving her own father from uncertain death had everyone back at Citrine Plaza celebrating BIG! It's what now has Ketches back in seas more often, warding off sea creatures from sending tidal waves crashing into their docks. She doesn't just fight off these creatures though, she also cares for them! And one of them - Deadlocked - might have even fell in love with Ketches.
Aster, Guardian of Love
Aster is a very special Guardian. First, he was raised in an all women family, which meant everyone was surprised to meet a boy! And being raised by only women meant he had a gender crisis when it came to clothing, unsure what comforted him best. It's late in his years he realized that he fluctuate day to day, liking being both feminine and masculine. He's the 3rd Guardian of Love, taking after his Grandmother, and then his Birth Mother. Not only does he look over the romantic relationships, but he also cares for the platonic ones! You must be wondering "Ah, this Aster fellow seems sweet! He sounds like a Cupid of sorts", and you're right! Besides "Guardian of Love", he's also nicknamed "Cupid". His other name - canonically speaking - would be "First Crush". Ready to be blown away? Aster was named after his Mother, Rose. Rose, his Mother was named after Grandmother Daffodil. Care to assume why? His family loves flowers! Better yet, they're all Botanic Shapes! So apart from watching over love in Paradise, he also cares for nature's precious blooms. Of course, to those who've keep up with my art, you also know Aster falls in love with Cube (And Cy! Cy as well, they're a poly eventually <3)
Macabre, Guardian of Death
Don't fool around this one, he's deathly serious about his role as Guardian of Death. First to ever BECOME a Guardian, and a Ghost Shape too. Macabre was born like this, a Ghost, and he thinks high of himself for being the first of the Ghosts to hold a power so high - close enough to be able to speak to the Gods of Paradise. It's a pleasure for him, a great pride, to have this close contact with The Celestial Triangle. What this job entails is keeping an eye on the count of souls that are to pass on or reincarnate (Worthy or not). Thanks to this, Macabre spends most of his time traveling between the surface of the island and The Void, guiding spirits to where they belong. Souls that refuse direction are forced to follow inside Macabre's scythe. He's the son of a Ghost Priest and Ghost Opera Singer, so clearly he has some strict family code to live by. Forgive Macabre for berating himself on being queer, he's raised strictly by one highly religious father. He is afraid of welcoming the truth into his heart. Eventually, when the events of Blixx happen, Macabre does fall in love badly with Barracuda.
Blixx, Guardian Queen of Corruption
Blixx had rejected the label of "Guardian" for the simple reason that she didn't feel the corruption was something to "Guard" over. The corruption was more like a plague that grew its own mind, and then attached itself to other shapes like fungi. Blixx is only capable of controlling it because of the genes passed down to her, and because the corruption sees her as its creator. Becoming a Guardian wasn't even part of her destiny, nor was it technically bestowed upon her by someone who recognized her potential. In fact, she only is seen as a Guardian because of the influence she carries on a massive following (Forced following by the way!). Once the Champions of Paradise fell to the corruption, they abided by Blixx's rules instantly due to her harboring The Tree for power. The only two shapes she values in her life are Barracuda (Her older brother) and Lycan (They both love each other, but never said it out loud)
I mentioned the big 3, the main 3 that rule together in Paradise, but what more is there to say about them? What about the others outside of this little circle?
The Celestial Triangle (Big 3)
Sun Dile (Sundial)☀️ is the God of the Sun and Skies, Moon Despina (Despina = Lady in Latin)🌙 is the Goddess of the Moon and Seas, and Tristam (The Great Tree)🔺 is the Embodiment and Creator of Paradise's Islands. These three were the very first, so it's natural many shapes absolutely adore them.
Before shape segregation, the Ghosts, Aquatics, and Cosmic born loved Moon so much and bonded over that! As for Sun admirers, the Flowers and Regulars did too. In the first Paradise that existed - named "Radasia" - there were only three zones given a name which is where each of them individually ruled; Howli Town (🔺), Jonquil Hills (☀️), Lazuli Lane (🌙).
Howli Town is a gray-white land that became the inspiration to the 2nd Paradise's zone "Quartz Court", and this is where Tristam had first created many, even infamously known "Annihilate" who had a different name at the time. Jonquil Hills, nicknamed "Gladiator's Playground" is a desert land with many greek-based structures and fountains, including the very large battle arena. If Sun's design is no wake-up call, it implies he also hosts matches in the arena for massive audiences (Sometimes even competes). This leaves Moon to Lazuli Lane, also known as "The Weeping Zone". It's full of frozen rivers, an endless night, and a clock that ticks backwards. Before Ghosts and Cosmic shapes existed, those who lived here wore very wooly coats and thick pants.
Demi Dupla (The Demigods)
Houston, the Demigod of the Stars ⭐️ His is a sad story, as it wasn't just his own work that gave him his title; Houston had a very close loved one who pushed and supported his dreams of charting the stars. Alexandra Light. Houston was born in Khooni Ocean, a zone to the 2nd Paradise "Poloroi". It's a seaside zone where the first Aquatics and Cosmics were born. Houston met Alexandra here, and the two shapes bonded deeply over their astronomy studies. Together, they wrote a book that housed ALL starry knowledge, but unfortunately, Alexandra passed before she could see it published. When Houston had discovered a strange cosmic phenomenon in the exosphere, it's The Celestial Triangle that acknowledges his smarts, granting him the title of "Demigod of the Stars" to pursue his next project up in the heavens. It's years later when the 3rd Paradise - "Chorus" - comes around, Houston naming a zone that happened to float above the islands: Lexan Stars, named after A-Lexan-dra.
Cube, Demigod of Invention ⚙️ He doesn't know his exact purpose until after the events of Blixx taking over Paradise slowly, too attached to his role as the Guardian of The Tree + Islands. After the cTm fight, Cube realizes how strong he is despite having held back to save Cy from himself. Thanks to the variety in Cube's arsenal, Cube doesn't only fight, but he could create using cogs, gears, bolts and pistons. He's a smart shape of his own caliber, so most day-to-day problems like a broken coffee machine or a jammed pen push-button are easy fixes. Once he's used to them, Cube loves to utilize his cogwheel blades to get around Paradise Islands faster.
I think the very first thing I wanna yap abt here is the power hierarchy of shapes in JSAB!T since it kinda is the base of all my au's history. It's not something any shape would talk about casually unless you were to ask "hey, what's your social status looking like" haha.
At the top, Gods
Top tier, immortals, and deemed as "Celestials" by the founder, Tristam [The Tree's humanized name]. Tristam 🔺, Moon 🌙, and Sun ☀️ are the recognized and most loved Gods. Others like Annihilate are forgotten to time. A subtier to Gods are "Demigods", having powers of a similar level yet possess no immortality. Examples; Houston ⭐ and Cube 🟦. Blixx at some point had taken on a form that housed powers of a God, but at the cost of her body serving as a host to another shape.
Guardians & Royals
Second to top tier, which can either be assigned to by Tristam or sent down another generation to take the role as Guardian/Royal. There are the Guardians of the Elemental Trinity [Land 🟦, Sea ⛵, Air 🚁], then there's the Guardian of Love 💕, Death 🖤, Corruption 🌀. Royals like Princess Bwa, Prince Quake, Queen Usurper, etc. have their power thanks to the voice of the shapes, each ruling their own lands within their own parts of the timeline.
Heroes & Bosses
Middle Tier, heroes are semi-immortals, the only time they're vulnerable to death being when using their TIO forms [a trade of invincibility for power]. Natural for them, they become regular mortals once they pass on their titles to the next generation of young heroes. Bosses gain their title soon as corruption judges their interests/deepest desires, giving them the power necessary to conquer.
Champions [Levels]
Second lowest tier, brought to life from both Champions with families, and creations of Tristam directly. Champions vow to protect the Tree with their lives, no matter whom it may belong to or where it resides. To the common shape, they're referred to as "Champions" and not levels because of their specialties in combat
Examples:
Logic Gatekeeper, Champion of Wisdom
Cascade, Champion of Waves
Cl.Ash, Champions of Arsenal
Spectra, Champion of Hexes
Zone, Champion of Music
Regular Shapes
The casual folk, no real significance other than existing.. unless you're a shape like Blixx
