TEXTS: PENREK
Penny: Well, then I'd go for it. what do you have to lose babe?
Derek: I would say my pride, but my betas take that on a daily basis.
TEXTS: PENREK
Penny: I would hope you could lol
Derek: This is one of the first things career wise I've been passionate about since before Laura died and everything in Beacon Hills went to hell.
TEXTS: PENREK
Penny: The pack is different.
Derek: Then let me rephrase. If I can take down murderous psychopaths, I can handle helicopter parents.
TEXTS: PENREK
Penny: Daddy Daycare 3
Penny: But like it's not that crazy, but are you sure you'd be able to handle parents that aren't teachers and students?
Derek: I handle the pack on a daily basis. I think I'd be fine.
TEXTS: PENREK
Derek: I like working at the school daycare.
Derek: But, is it a crazy idea to want to open my own daycare? I have the funds to do it, but... Am I crazy for wanting to?

fergalicious but i aināt promiscuous and if you were suspicious all that shit is fictitious
welcome to the family || derek & sophie
Sophie: sniffled once more, a few tears starting to roll down her cheeks. "T-that's very nice of you," she said weakly, somehow hugging her knees closer to her chest. While she wished she could just go home to her grandma, there was a small sense of comfort through her current pain that she wouldn't have to leave her life completely behind. "...all my stuff is at my ho-- my old house."
Derek: hated seeing people cry, always had. No one this young deserved to suffer like this. Hell, no one in general deserved to suffer like this. "We'll get it whenever you're ready. We can either go tonight or we can just get some stuff from the store to tide you over until you're ready to go back. There's no rush for anything.. You can take your time for it all. I know it's a lot to process."

Sophie: jumped slightly when he touched her should, but quickly relaxed, offering him a weak, barely there smile. "H-how?" She asked quietly, not putting two and two together. She was figuring they had just sent somebody from the school to help figure things out. "I can't live at my house alone..."
Derek: hated that she'd have to leave the home she'd made with her grandmother, but he knew there was nothing he could do about that. "No, no you can't. But you can live with my fiancee, some of my close friends, my sisters, and my other foster daughter. You'll have your own room you can do whatever you'd like with and I'll do my absolute best to help you through all this. I've been in a similar position, so if you need to cry, discuss it all, or vent.. You have someone to rely on. You'll be there with us as long as you'd like to be."
TEXTS: PENREK.
Penny: Oh no, that's horrible Der. There is plenty of room anyways. what's one more kid. maybe she'll be nicer to me then Amy is. but its also good shes not getting pulled away from her friends.
Derek: Amy is making progress... That new guy she's dating seems to have a good influence on her.
Derek: But, yes. Sophie is really sweet. She's really broken up about the whole thing which I understand more than I'd like to.

Sophie: looked up when the man walked into the room, hugging her knees closer to her chest. She nodded at both of his questions, watching as he sat in the chair across from her. "You work at Degrassi," She said quietly. She didn't know if he was a teacher or not, but she knew that she had definitely seen him around the school before. "I go there... or well went there... I don't know if I'm going to go there anymore..." Actually speaking about her new situation as opposed to thinking about it made it all more real, her eyes starting to well up with tears.
Derek: was relieved she was okay with him sitting near her, but he tried to keep his composure as hers broke. "Yes, I do.. I work in the daycare that a friend of mine started." Pausing, he hoped he wouldn't overstep by leaning forward, a hand gently touching her shoulder. "You can go to Degrassi still, if that's what you'd like. It's completely up to you. You'll still be here in Toronto, no one will take you away if you don't want to go anywhere."

Penny: Did you get a puppy? or find a puppy. and it followed you home
Derek: No..
Derek: I got a call about another foster child and I just instinctively said yes.. She just lost her only family member, her grandmother, and I was the only one who agreed to take her that would keep her in this area.

Derek: Something just happened and... The loft is growing +1 in inhabitants.
welcome to the family || derek & sophie
Sophie: was absolutely numb. She had been okay growing up without her parents, but her grandmother had always been both a mom and a dad to her. She knew the woman was old and wouldn't be around forever, but she had always figured she would be much older than 13 when it happened. She had been sitting in the social workers office since she got pulled out of school earlier that day, not sure what was supposed to happen to her.
Chewing on her lip, she looked around the room, trying to distract herself from all the thoughts that were rushing through her head. What if there was nowhere to go and she had to find a way to support herself? What if she got pulled out of Toronto and had to completely restart her life alone. Sniffling, she hugged her knees to her chest, watching the door in the hopes the nice social worker would come back.
The social worker had been making calls all day trying to find somewhere for Sophie to at least stay for a few nights before a more permanent arrangement could be set up. Saying Derek's agreement was a relief would be a vast understatement. When the man walked up, she smiled sadly at him. "She's been quiet... I don't quite think it's sunk in yet," She explained. "Thank you again, this really means a lot as it was such short notice." She glanced at the door to Derek. "I'm gonna go in and tell her you're here and then you can talk." With that she went back into the room, coming back out a few minutes later. "Go ahead in."
Derek: listened to the social worker, solemn look on his face once she started to speak. God, he knew the feeling. Knew how numb someone could feel when they'd lost so much. Though he feared she'd react negatively, he knew being there for her was much more important than any worry he had right now. "I understand... It'll take a while for her to grieve and process, and that's okay. She'll have security and comfort with my family and I, that's a promise."
Waiting for her to come back, he took a deep breath when she told him he could go in. Trying to come off nonthreatening was hard when you looked like he did, but he figured the small smile he tried to keep on his lips would help a little. Walking in, his heart broke at the sight of her looking so sad and small in the chair. She was definitely younger than he'd been when he'd lost everything, younger than Amy had been when he'd initially gotten her. He knew both his foster daughter's situations were vastly different and incomparable, but he had a lot of hope for healing in both girls. "Hey.. Sophie, right? I'm Derek Hale. Mind if I sit with you?"
welcome to the family || derek & sophie
Derek: had just dropped off dinner for the pack at the apartment when he'd gotten the call. The social worker he'd interacted with since the day he'd gotten Amy had blown up his phone, asking if he'd still be open to multiple fosters. He'd assured her yes he would quickly, of course, and she'd told him of a young girl who already lived in the area whose grandmother had just passed. It broke his heart to know she was completely without family, a feeling he'd felt briefly between his discovery of Cora and then Peter's resurrection.
There was still some spare rooms at the building he owned, so there was no problem he saw in agreeing to take her in. He knew he needed to talk to Penny, but he couldn't take the time right this second. Not when this poor girl just needed somewhere to readjust and heal.
The drive to meet the social worker and the girl- Sophie- didn't take too long and he felt some anxiety as he walked in. He was still on rough terrain with Amy.. Would this girl be the same way? Well, he was about to find out. Spying the social worker, he walked up and gave her a nervous smile. "How's she doing?"
TEXTS: DEREK/AMY.
Amy: So pretend you didnt
Derek: I don't want to just pretend that I don't worry about you and that I'm not interested in what's going on in your life.
