@commander-holt: “I know, I know, know,” he mumbles, raising a hand to place it over one of the ones that rest on his shoulders. “It doesn’t make it easier. If anything, it makes it harder. Look how far we’ve come.” A fragile smile forms on his face. He takes a deep breath before continuing to speak. “I suppose it was selfish me to ask. Afterall, I do dangerous things all the time.”
Noticing Kuro’s nervousness, his smile fades. “You need to be careful who you trust.” Eyes searching Kuro's for answers, he contemplates what he should do. Should he press for more information? Should he let it go? “Whoever you’re working with, I’m sure I can learn to trust them. So introduce me to them sometime, okay? For now, can we just…” His voice trails off as he realizes quiet tears roll down his cheeks.
“Sorry,” he mumbles, hastiliy wiping at his eyes, “we haven’t had much time to talk lately, and I’m pretty sure the last time we talked we were arguing and….” his voice trails off as he heistates to share his most recent near death expreince, “and the other day my jet pack malfunctioned and all I could think was ‘if I don’t get out of this one, he’s gonna think I died mad at him.’ Luckliy Beezer pulled through for me but… I was afraid I was never going to get the chance to apologize, or, well… Kuro sometimes you annoy me, frustrate me or outright piss me off but I could never hate you because I love you. I know emotions can be hard for you so you don’t have to say it back. Just know that I love you, okay?”
【黒】The notion of his ability to perceive emotions was merely a fact. Especially now, as the man before him was getting clearly emotional, and all Kuro could do was stare, unable to catch up to the momentum. He wondered whether he should be crying as well, but by that love confessions were already whisked into the air. Helplessness flashed across is face before it settled into sympathy.
“ I’m not mad at you! “ he exclaimed. His arms twitched forward, but were jerked back in an afterthought. A palm was raised instead, to cup the man’s cheek in a fleeting hold. “ I’m not. “ His thumb pushed a golden strand aside. “ How could I? You’re so patient with me. “
There had been a time he couldn’t go a day without the man before him at his side. Now, with a hollow sort of feeling, he’d come to realize that sometimes days would pass by without an exchange of words, without needing to say anything. It was hard to find the right words now. Even if he couldn’t voice it, the situation hurt. That feeling was real, and Matt would notice. It would show.
“ Look at me, “ he urged gently. He faced the man’s amber eyes, stared deep into them, and tried to channel whatever sensations awakened inside of him. He felt sparkles of the giddy energy his chest had welled with as they’d first gotten to know each other, he still often did, when light caught onto the other at right times. There was a heavier presence lurking right behind that joviality, a longing, worry. His golden eyes swam with it.
His lips parted, to say something, or maybe just to lean in - and his communicator beeped. In the same instant, he practically teared himself away, and could only shoot an apologetic glance over his shoulder. ‘ Sorry, ‘ he mouthed, before turning his back and scooting away to pick up the urgent call.
