hi! as a person who is currently going through the game and screenshotting the different dialogue you can get from choosing different options lmao i really love your blog! i saw you had a post talking about what order you like to play the moments in, and i was wondering if you had opinions on orders for derek and baxter as well.
related question, i saw that gb patch said if you're playing specifically for derek or baxter that they don't recommend playing all of cove's moments, but I've been playing specific cove moments before derek or baxter moments because they give you certain options about mc that i figured would make a difference (like sexuality stuff etc). do the cove moments actually not make a difference?

I'll try to answer both questions accordingly, but keep in mind that I will ramble, and yes that is a threat.
For the Derek and Baxter moments, I think the order the game gives is decent, and that's because I think they are meant on some level to be played in that order.
For example, having Boardwalk last circles back to Derek's confession (on a Crush route if you don't agree to the marriage pact nor confess yourself) or just generally his moment of finally getting to be selfish himself.
I do however think that Lemonade would make a better starting point than Responsible because it's better to slide into being introduced to Derek (outside of the little you get from the intro) alongside Cove, who the player is already used to. Responsible is a solid reintroduction to Derek's family but it can be off-putting to have the first Derek DLC moment be him pawning his siblings off on you so he can practice, especially when his whole issue/arc is him having problems being selfish (I recall being confused about it when I initially played his DLC for that very reason).
Responsible is objectively less dramatic than Boardwalk but you'd almost think that it takes place afterwards because Boardwalk is where Derek realized that he was forced into being let himself be selfish and nothing bad happened, which could follow nicely with Responsible where he dares to make a selfish request to the MC. Soiree is a 50/50 (if you go the route where you ask him) because he's technically being selfish but also he was asked by the MC so it's a little different.
Siblings I don't really have an opinion on. I just don't think it'd be first since you have the combo of Derek hanging out in the player's room (which could be seen as something closer friends would do) and the MC going over to his for a sleepover, nor last since Siblings is arguably Derek's most selfless since Elizabeth was rude to him yet he's still going through all this effort for her.
If you go for Derek's moments but Baxter's route for Step 4, I could also see wanting to play Soiree last so meeting Baxter is the last thing you do moment-wise (whether you do Derek's Soiree, take Cove on Indifferent/Fond but don't dance with him nor go as a practice date, or go alone).
(Keep in mind through all of this by the way that I've only played Derek's DLC once so I'm mostly just thinking of it from a plot/narrative standpoint and not super in-depth as I usually would.)
As for Baxter, there's solid reason for either Mountain or Planning being the last one. Planning is great because of the whole "this could be our last summer like this" angle (also the only option if you hate yourself enough to go for the Crush route non-date kiss), but Mountain is the intimacy scene with Baxter and also where he admits that he wishes that he didn't have to go (if you had the fireside chat with him; Planning is also brought up in that scene if you played it first).
Sightseeing can also go basically anywhere except the last moment since it's obviously a little odd to get to know him by the very end. The only exception is unless you want to ask Baxter if he's single, are on Crush, don't say that his Step 3 self is your first crush, but don't want to get into a fling with him while also not wanting to turn him down, since Baxter won't ask if Sightseeing is the last moment, but I think it's best at the start since you get to know him there.
If you already don't play Cove's moments, then I think the order of Sightseeing->Hang->Drinks->Planning->Mountain is solid because you go back-and-forth in a consistent rhythm of hanging with Baxter one-on-one to hanging out with him alongside others.
If I had to pick any of his moments to play before Sightseeing on a Crush route (if maybe you want to experience something with him first that isn't just Late Shift/Boating), it'd be Drinks. Seems like a weird choice due to all the drama, but it's the only moment where you don't get a chance to kiss Baxter if you're dating, so you could have it be first and not be missing out that much.
In terms of GB Patch's comments about not playing all of Cove's moments for extra content, it's technically true and almost outright discouraged? You'll know if you've played a lot of Baxter's moments and then play Late Shift without a job.
If you accept Baxter's invite into his house, it's pretty awkward. There is different narration for having been in Baxter's house before but there was also an original direction for when the player entered before the DLC was written (i.e: the MC thinking about the mean not-grandparents) and the attempt to keep that doesn't fully stick the landing.
Boating does better since you can bring it up to Lee if you're in a relationship with Baxter but nothing substantial is added.
I know for sure that there are moments that can be brought up in Baxter's moments from Cove, just that there aren't many.
Off the top of my head:
The name of your dolphin balloon in Shopping can be brought up in Sightseeing to Baxter (your opinion on the street in Shopping is brought up too)
Road Trip makes a return in Mountain if you agree with Cove that you don't like layering clothes (Liz basically jokes about the MC being out there in a tank top and shorts)
Whether you wanted to perform with Derek (or didn't and decided to let him brainstorm by choosing the option You gave a look to the other two.) on the shopping streets during the Step 2 ending comes up in Sightseeing.
The "Colden" joke from Happiness (if you made it) is brought up in Baxter's Hang
If the MC crushed on Cove in Step 2 but is crushing on Baxter now and played Growing but not Talks, you may come across a problem. Having chosen There was only one person you'd ever had romantic feelings for. and/or There was only one person you'd ever had those kinds of feelings for. in Growing will lock you out of some more suggestive moments with Baxter in Step 4 because the game will assume that the MC is attracted to Cove and Cove only. Talks is necessary in this case as it gives the MC a chance to adjust their orientation accordingly. Choosing the same options as in Growing actually will work now so long as you're at Crush with Baxter because the game doesn't know if you're talking about Baxter or Cove, so it'll let the Baxter Step 4 stuff happen. You'll know if you're locked out because you won't get an option to say whether your heart was pumping or not after your MC sees Baxter in his underwear and he greets them a "terrible morning."
(Oh, and not a Cove moment, but if you played Boardwalk, then you can recognize Xavier when you go with Baxter to meet them in Step 4, whether you got your face painted or not.)
I think it really just depends on whether you're that focused on building a relationship with Cove or not or would rather focus solely on Baxter. Cove's moments being referenced are there but not so much that it makes a ton of impact.
