sometimes i think about how nyreen became a well respected leader of a mainly turian group.
in the turian military she was not very well respected, and biotics in general are distrusted by other, non-biotic turians. so much so that they are separated from the rest of the military, and their abilities are rarely ever trained to be more powerful than a human L3 biotic. nyreen left because of how she was treated and underutilized. she turned away from their culture and flat out left.
i don’t see her holding turians in general, but especially the military and its structure, in a high regard. turians are meant to be progressive, fight for the needs of many instead of the one and set aside theirselves for the whole, yet mistreat their own. they hold onto the past actions of biotics, despite them having orders, against all and any of their kind. i see her being very aware of how leaving made her become not exactly the best turian in the same way, though. she goes on to work for money, look out for herself, and it’s not until omega / aria / the talons that she really understands how her species is supposed to act per their culture. when she joins the talons she recognizes the need for public service, self-sacrifice. she takes over this rag-tag gang that has poor direction and whips them into shape. they become notable, organized, and actually beneficial to omega. so much so that after nyreen they become omega’s new security force.
for the first time in years she had turians that rightfully respected and trusted her, and in return nyreen cared for these people and was wiling to die for them.
it’s so important.
