“His loss completely…” Ellie muttered softly, her eyes looking sad for a moment until she considered the happier thought that at least now Tammy had a chance of being happy in her own self away from him. “Why do you think you deserve so little? I’ve read up on you, you’ve done so much, you’re a wonderful woman…Your record looks clean, even if I know it’s not, that shows an intelligence, plus you have this kindness…I- Oh wow, I’m not good at speeches”
“I guess so...” She said with a shrug. Tammy didn’t think of herself as a catch. Her self confidence wasn’t very high. She smiled gently at Ellie when she talked. She was glad she tried to cheer her up. “I guess the way other people have seen me in the past has affected the way I see myself now. I’m not used to people treating me kindly. No one has ever made me beautiful. No one has ever made me feel worth something. Not my husband. Not my parents. Nobody. The only people who’ve ever gave a shit about me are my kids and the group of woman living in that old house at the harbour. They are all I have left.” She paused for a second. “And now you...I guess. Your speech was wonderful....maybe one day I’ll be able to believe you.”
