fatelivesvvithinusâ:
âNo, donât worry. I like talkinâ âbout home. Anâ I definitely miss Scotland. Ma family, ma horse, for sure.â Shaking her head, she shrugged. âBut, like I said, New York has some beautiful aspects. Mostly the people. As you yourself have evidenced.â Merida couldnât help but flirt a little. Tam was undoubtedly lovely.
Tam nodded. âI canât imagine leaving everything like that,â she admitted. Sure, sheâd left places all the time, she hadnât spoken to her parents in years; she didnât even know if they were both still alive, if she was honest, but she lived with her brother. And she definitely wouldnât be able to leave her pets. But she couldnât help but smile at Meridaâs comment. âWell, thanks,â she grinned. âAnd if youâve definitely set the standard really high on what to expect if I ever go to Scotland.â
angel-hudsxnâ:
âCool. I swear you wonât regret it. Youâll probably have the time of your life.â She laughed in a practiced, friendly way. One that she used to seem unassuming. It was how she had picked up one of her first jobs. âOh, I guess thatâs kind of a bummer, huh? In the movies they always make it out to look so cool.â Though to be fair, Angel really hadnât seen too many movies. Though she was slowly catching up.
Tam nodded, laughing a bit. âIâm sure I would,â she said. She didnât really trust her laugh. Just... something behind her eyes didnât reach the tone. Tam shrugged. âI guess. Honestly, I wouldnât want him to be able to read my mind or know what Iâm thinking or any of that shit. Because heâd totally be a dick about all of it.â
wilderfawnâ:
âThanks. It is a lot of work, honestly, but I still really enjoy it. Even if itâs kinda emotionally tiring sometimes. Dog training sounds like fun too! I love doing basically anything that involves working with animals.â As much as she could, anyway. As much as she enjoyed the part-time job that she currently had, she was looking forward to the day she could do nothing but work with animals.Â
âI can imagine it is. I feel bad when I see a dog with just a nervous stomach, I canât imagine seeing all those animals hurting.â Honestly, she just respects her more. âItâs fun, but sometimes hard because you canât always be fun and lovey with the pups. But yeah, as long as I get to work with animals, Iâll be a happy camper.â
feliciajnesâ:
Felicia looked towards her with a bright grin on her face. âOh, so you think what youâve been dealing with is boring?â She asked with a little laugh. âAre you saying youâre a bit more experienced then most and have just been settling for the bottom of the bunch these days? Tisk tisk, Iâll be sure you enjoy the evening, sweetheart.â The night air hit, and she brushed a few piece of hair from her face before spotting her car. âCome on, oh just a few. I think getting to go home with me is plenty of a prize, just you wait.âÂ
Tam shrugged a shoulder. âWouldnât say Iâm more experienced, just... not easily entertained. So, yeah, Iâve been settling,â she couldnât help the bit of a smirk crossing her face. âIâm sure I will.â She walked with her. Chuckling Tam, turned her head to Felicia. âYeah, okay, thatâs fair. You certainly seem like a treat.â
wilderfawnâ:
âI mean, that is the aim, at least. Itâs honestly been what Iâve wanted to do forâŠprobably as long as I can remember.â Well, that or wanting to be a park ranger. But being a vet had ultimately always seemed like the more appealing of the two options. âYour mom was probably right, but also I probably canât say I would not have tried to do something like that myself as a kid.â Or even when she was older than that. âIt is, yes. Itâs nice to meet you as well, Tam.â
âThatâs really cool. Lots of respect to you. Iâm a dog trainer. I know thatâs like, nowhere near the same, but like. I dunno, I love working with animals and I didnât have the grades to get into vet school or anything. Iâm just rambling,â she laughed a bit. âYeah, she probably was.â At least she was right about one thing. She smiled again.Â
feliciajnesâ:
âNo one tells me no.â She grinned towards her as she picked up her purse. Pulling her phone out to call up her uber. âWell, come on. My driver is pretty quick to get to places when they get a notification itâs me. Healthy tips and such gets you better service.â She shrugged as though it was nothing. Mostly because it was nothing - pocket change really. âReason I make sure to always go after a true man. I need someone thatâs a match for me. Or else, itâs just.. boring.â She groaned at the simple thought of putting herself in a place like that. âOh well thank you. Thatâs some brownie points for you.âÂ
Tam smiled a bit. âGood to know,â she said, getting up. âAnd Iâll keep that in mind.â Not that she really had the kind of cash to just drop super generous tips on the regular. Tam nodded. âYeah, having someone whoâs a little more experienced is always good. Iâve had my occasional boring interactions. I try to avoid those sorts of situations now, but... Itâs not as easy when youâre not as confident,â she chuckled. Which was why most of her hook ups happened completely wasted. Tam chuckled. âCool. How many more of those do I need before I get a prize?â
feliciajnesâ:
Raising a brow she looked towards the other with a smirk. âOkay? Okay as in youâre gonna just come right on home with me?â Nodding she let her eyes go wide before laughing. âYeah, well people just assume Iâm a bitch. Theyâre not right, but I prefer that title to be glittery and glowing with success people hate success in others, so youâre just a bitch.â Shrugging she looked towards her and just grinned happily.Â
Tam shrugged a should, returning the smirk. âYeah, why not. Unless you only offered because you didnât think Iâd say yes?â she raised her brows. Tam smiled, laughing. âPowerful, successful women scare a lot of people for some reason. Something about fragile masculinity, right?â she grinned. âAnd if itâs any consolation, I donât think you are one. Just a successful, attractive person.â She wasnât flirting by calling her attractive; that was more of a statement. Besides, if she was flirting, she wouldâve used much better phrasing than âattractive personâ.Â
fatelivesvvithinusâ:
âSame,â she answered softly. âItâs quieter there. A lot less pain and sufferinâ, too.â She shrugged. âBut the real worldâs good too, if ye know where tae look.â Merida had to laugh, though, as Tam mentioned her dogs and her landlord. âIâll be sure not tae mention it if, somehow, I meet them anâ also the subject of them beinâ yer landlord somehow magically comes up.â Bemused, she sipped her beer.Â
The Scottish girl shook her head, her wild russet curls bouncing in her agreement. âNo, no. Thatâs exactly how I feel about it. Ye definitely see that in Scotland, too. There was this waterfall not too far from the farm. Well⊠I say not too far, but me anâ Angusâthatâs my horseâused tae ride for hours before we even realized how far we were.â She laughed. âBut the point is, thereâs this waterfall near the farm where I use tae risk my neck climbinâ tae thâtop because the view was jusâ so beautiful. Breathtakinâ, really. Anâ green jusâ like yer sayinâ. Ye can see the forest for ages.â
Her expression turned wistful. âAch. I didnâ even realize I missed it. Look what yeâve done tae me,â she teased.
âYeah,â Tam nodded, a small smile creeping across her face. Honestly, she could listen to her talk about anything forever without getting tired of her accent. She laughed. âOkay, fair enough, there are lots of things that would have to happen to get to that point.â She said, taking a sip of her own drink.
âThat sounds amazing,â Tam said, listening in awe. âThat mustâve been so freeing, to ride around like that for hours.â She honestly couldnât imagine that. Sheâd always had something keeping her from just going off and doing whatever it was she wanted. To feeling completely free. If it was her brother, her dogs, her anxieties, she knew it didnât matter. Sheâd always find an excuse to keep her feet planted here.Â
Tam smiled softly, laughing lightly. âSorry, didnât mean to make you so sentimental,â Tam teased back, nudging her gently. âHonestly, I would miss a place like that too, though.â
fatelivesvvithinusâ:
She had figured as much, though she didnât want to assume that the other girl was gay. She had hit on Merida, so she thought it was fair to presume some level of queerness, but she also didnât like to ID people before they told her what they were.Â
Listeing to her talka bout dogs, Merida grinned. âClimbinâ anâ dogs, eh? Sees like a good set of things tae be passionate about. De ye have dogs of yer own, too?â
âTae be perfectly honest, I may never have left Scotland. I loved it. The forests, the huntinâ the green. So much beautiful green.â
Tam smiled, nodding. âI love being out in the woods and stuff. When I was little, we used to go camping and that was amazing. And I do. I have two dogs. Apollo and Nova. Both of them are mixes,â she loved her dogs and could talk about them forever. âOh, but like. Donât tell my landlord,â she chuckled, taking a sip of her beer. âDo you have any pets?
Tam nodded. âHonestly, I wouldnât blame you. Scotland always seems so beautiful. Iâd love to visit sometime. All that green might make it hard for me to leave though. Itâs my favorite color. Especially like that fresh, crisp, forest green? Like when the trees are so dense thatâs all you can see, but the sun is shining through and itâs just... nice?â she laughed at herself a bit. âSorry, I... usually donât ramble about colors like that.â
angel-hudsxnâ:
âHey, I you really wanted to I bet I could hook you up. You donât have to answer now but think about it, yeah?â She winked and laughed. It was so fun to mess around with people and this girl was the perfect kind of mark. âReally? Does that twin sense thing actually work? Iâve always wondered. â
âAlright, yeah. Iâll keep that in mind,â she chuckled. Thereâs something about the combination of the wink and the previous comments that made Tam wonder if she would be trying to play some game. Tam didnât know what itâd be, but sheâd keep an eye on it. âNo, not really,â she chuckled. âI mean, sometimes we do say the same things at the same time, or relate somethings together just because weâve always been around each other. But I donât think itâs because weâre twins; just that we spend a lot of time together.â
fatelivesvvithinusâ:
She shook her head. âIt doesnâ. Mostly womenâs rights anâ gay rights. Well, all queer rights, not jusâ gay. But I get involved in other things my friendsâr passionate about as well. Environmental issues is one of âem.â She gave a smile. âDo ye have anything youâre passionate about? Somethinâ ye stand for?â She hummed. âThe good part about New York that Iâve found, is that ye jusâ need tae walk a bit anâ yeâll find yourself in a completely different place. Itâs fascinatinâ really. But if ye did move, where would ye go?â
âOh, those are good causes. Iâm both of those,â she smiled a bit. âAnd I think the environment is pretty cool.â She shrugged. âUm... I... well, Iâm passionate about dogs? That sounds weird; Iâm a dog trainer. I do a lot for rescues though. And Iâll bring dogs and sometimes cats from shelters to rescues and Iâm passionate about the fact that people should adopt from a shelter or a rescue rather than a breeder. So... I guess thatâd be my cause.â Tam nodded and chuckled a bit. âYeah, and you never know what kind of person youâll see around any corner.â She thought about it for a moment. âSomewhere different. Go to the Rocky Mountains maybe? Somewhere I could do a lot of hiking and some climbing? Just be in the middle of nowhere for once. I think thatâd be great.â She smiled a little. âWhat about you? Is this where you wouldâve chosen to go if you could go anywhere?â
fatelivesvvithinusâ:
Sipping her beer, Merida raised a brow. âI came with a friend, actually. The schools here were good, anâ I got involved in the politics scene. Wanted a change a scenery, ye know?â There was, of course, more, but Merida was out to spill Willowâs secrets to someone she didnât know.
Tam nodded. âOh, cool. Yeah, the schools are pretty great. What kind of politics, if you donât mind me asking? Or just like. All politics?â Tam chuckled, then shook her head. âThat probably sounds ignorant. But yeah, change of scenery. Iâve thought about getting one of those sometimes. Iâve lived in the city my whole life.â
feliciajnesâ:
âWell my apartment isnât too far away from here if you want to leave your impression on me. I mean I canât really help you on everything if I donât know what Iâm working with right?â She stated with a small laugh. Felicia nodded with a grin, âI like you. I donât say that willingly to just anyone so I would hope you donât take those words lightly there sweetheart.âÂ
Tam felt like she mustâve looked like a deer in the headlights at her comment. Like to talk about it not in public or to... she almost wanted to question it, but she knew that she shouldnât. She regained herself, taking a sip of her drink. âOkay,â she said. Tam smirked. âWell thanks. I like you too. And donât worry Iâm not taking that lightly. Usually people just think Iâm a stubborn, antisocial bitch so this is definitely an improvement,â she mused with a smile. She was mostly kidding. The only person who ever really referred to her that way to her faceâother than herselfâ was her brother in that not-serious sibling sort of way of insulting each other.
angel-hudsxnâ:
âSee! Now thatâs the spirit. You might just have some moxie in you yet.â She winked at the other girl. âFriends kinda just come and go. Not hard to just pick up another one.â She shrugged. âYeah, I guess that does make sense. Though both of you working with dogs is interesting. Iâve never actually met a twin before.â
Tam laughed a bit. âYeah, weâll see. Now all I have to do is meet someone with a motorcycle who I can hitch a ride with,â she smiled. She kind of agreed with that since she really didnât have that many friends. She shrugged. âI guess it is. It was just sorta easy and something we both knew weâd enjoy. And twins arenât all that exciting. Just means we know a lot more about sharing than weâd really care to.â
wilderfawnâ:
âIâm inclined to agree. Thereâs supply companies for lab materials for a reason. I do need to work on live animals for vet school now, but there wasnât really any reason to make them be tortured by high schoolers. My friends all seemed to find it funny though. Like it was just such a Fawn thing to do.â
âExactly. And, hey, technically with like, vert school youâre helping them right? Thatâs also cool that you want to be a vet.â Tam said. âAnd I get that. My brother still makes fun of me for the time I was in third grade, and it was our turn to take home the class hamster, and when it was time to take him back, I refused and tried to... liberate him. Didnât work because my mom saw me releasing him into the âwildâ and told me that that would be worse for him than the cage.â She looked to her. âYour name is Fawn, I take it? Iâm Tam.â she introduced herself.
