we are not perfect, we'll learn from our mistakes and as long as it takes, i will prove my love to you i am not scared of the elements, i am underprepared but i am willing, and even better:
i get to be the other half of you.
tell the world that we finally got it all right...
under pressure, precious things can break {whiteman}
Tanya was standing in the kitchen, chopping vegetables for a homemade soup and humming to herself. Ryan still didn't let her touch any poultry--he knew she was still getting used to cooking--but she had thought this would be a nice surprise for him. The table was already set, and two bowls sat on the counter beside her, waiting to be filled with steaming broth and vegetables.
She hadn't felt this good in weeks. It felt like a weight had been lifted off of her shoulders, and she couldn't wait to share the good news with Ryan. Hearing the door creak open, she turned to greet her boyfriend--erm, fiancé.
"I'm in here," she called, sliding the vegetables off of the cutting board and into the pot. Everything was going to be okay. Now she knew for sure.
"Dancing isn’t anything to be ashamed of, I’m just glad you stopped. Tanya, why didn’t you tell me?"
"I dunno. It never really came up."
"I guess I thought you'd be upset."
Oh; are you… are you leaving the club? Did you find other work elsewhere?
"Well, I'm not going to be dancing anymore. I might find a new job altogether. I'm not quite sure yet."
"That was beautiful! You should sing more often."
"Oh!"
"Uh, sorry. I didn't know anyone was listening... Thanks, I guess."
"I am in a relationship. Go figure, right?"
"With who?!"
"Needs a bit of a kick, something for an aftertaste."
"Hmm... Maybe a splash of amaretto? Just for a little twinge of almond at the end."
"Whiskey’s too strong for me, Tanya. I’m a lightweight."
"Then maybe something simpler. Wine, maybe?"
"Yes, but you love me anyways."
"I got you your favorites. At least I hope they’re still your favorites."
"They're wonderful."
"What's the occasion?"
"I’m fine. Just stressed out by life."
"Are you sure?"
"What's wrong?"
"Working too hard or is something bothering you?"
"Both. Neither. I dunno."
It’s a plus; even if they do leave me covered with all this glitter crap.
I know what you mean. The stuff gets everywhere.
"I ain’t been out long, but I’m noticin’ that; that’s for sure."
"For about two days."
"That's all?"
Oh. No one. It’s not a big deal.
Are you sure? You seem pretty upset.
I just…
I was dumped. Are break ups supposed to be this hard?
Oh my God! Well, she's probably a bitch. You're better off without her, anyways. And--
I'm so sorry, I didn't even know you were officially together.
"Alright. We can head to the cafe. I need to find someplace to wash off first. I don’t think they’d appreciate my appearance."
"Well, my apartment isn't too far. We could stop by there, I guess."
