The Guardians of the First Peoples: an Introduction to Animal Spirit Guides
There is a number of deities in the world that take the shape of animals (and sometimes human) that are referred to as guides. Such figures are more predominant in the mythology and ancestry of the First People in the world.
Totems and occasionally temples were built to these Great Spirits that were created by one God.
He, God, with the help of Mother Earth and Father Sky created them for a purpose - to protect this land and it's people giving them different areas of profession and expertise. Some belonged specifically to the land, helping the trees grow with rain while others were created for the purpose of guiding the native people with knowledge of hunting and craftsmanship.
It is natural that any creature should have offspring. These children are often half human or of a similar gene pool; witches, shaman, sorcerors, etc. The child is born with a birthmark indicative of their immortal parent.
For example on Thomas' hip there is a dark mark that resembles a cougars pawprint, on Priya's under arm the ancient Hindu symbol for snake.
As offspring that are only halflings in a way they are limited in some respects. For example though one of Black Panther's strongest powers is rebirth/regeneration his son Bagheera cannot bring himself back from death but only somewhat severe wounding.
There are two representative spirits from each tribe. Usually one male and one female unless there is not a female spirit that is worshipped by the tribe.
South America - The Zuni Tribes 2 representatives are The Master Hunter/Cougar and The Black Panther who grew up together as friends/cubs.
India (special circumstance in which there has been a dispute) - Vedric Tribe Nahusha, Priya and Sheer Khan. All who barely abide each others presence in the same room.
