The story of how one of the world’s most popular video games found its way to players around the globe. Businessman Henk Rogers and Tetris inventor Alexey Pajitnov join forces in the USSR, risking it all to bring Tetris to the masses.

Improbable as it may sound, it really is based on a true story. Towards the end it gets a bit difficult to suspend disbelief when Gorbachev gets pulled away from the parade. But apparently Maxwell indeed tried to intervene by using his connection with him.

Even if that’s what happened there’s maybe one turn of “who owns the rights to what” too many. But thanks to Egerton, who’s essential to hold it all together, it’s overall a very enjoyable watch.

I already laughed out loud when Maxwell jr. declared that he runs an honest company. And I was even more delighted later that the movie featured the Maxwell fraud so extensively.

Side note, amused to find out that Claudia Vaughn (born Schiffer) has a producer credit for all the recent films made by her husband’s Marv Films company.
