Wednesday tasks (5th Feb)
Today you need to complete your Melbourne festival proposal with preparatory drawings/ experiments. Once complete, check you have completed the following for assessment week next week.....
Below are extracts from the brief (tasks you should complete to pass the criteria easily). Make sure ALL OF THESE are complete in your sketchbook, journal or blog. If you have done them, you have passed the unit:
1. Explain what you need to know about your intended audience related to your pathway (e.g graphic design, fine art or interior design) in order to provide successful solutions to your chosen brief e.g age, gender, buying habits, income, class, job, individual style?
2. What do you think the audience of your chosen activity would expect from your work and how would they benefit from the outcome?
3. Explain your interpretation of the brief and describe the research you need/ what you need it for.
4. Produce visual research with critical analysis (explanation of the successful visual elements and what they communicate) to support your ideas and explain your influences
5. Explain what has influenced you and which research your ideas have come from.
6. What have you learned from your research about engaging with an audience?
7. Produce drawings and visuals to communicate your ideas and a ‘vision’ of how your proposal would look in situ.
8. Give reasons for your creative decisions and compare to examples of other designers/ artists work.
9. Explain the best materials to complete the project brief you are working to.
10. Keep a detailed action plan of tasks to complete in your notebook at all times for am/ pm/ eve. Cross them off when complete.
11. Explain your ideas and why the style, materials and techniques you have selected to use are the most appropriate.
12. Produce ‘roughs’, maquettes, samples and final outcomes and explain your choice of materials.
14. Explain how your project is specific to the brief you have chosen to answer. E.g. the way you have used digital applications, processes and techniques you have used to produce.
15. Explain how your work is fit for purpose and met the needs of your audience.
16. Explain how your engagement with an audience is similar, or different, to the work other people are doing in the studio and how their audience differs from your own.
18. Explain everything you are learning in your journal on a daily basis and what you have learned by the end of the project in your evaluation.

Below is evidence of what you need for Pass, Merit or Distinction (depending how much effort you give each one:
Context-explanation of the setting, the brief, the purpose, the idea, what you are doing or artists have done, why, how etc. who is the audience & how will you meet their needs/ expectations?
Research-Secondary (anything influential/ informative that you haven’t produced) Primary (anything you have recorded or produced/ discovered)
Problem solving-Ideas, choosing best material or process, overcoming technical difficulty, acquiring knowledge, adjusting time plan, booking resources, experimenting, discovering, achieving targets/ plans
Planning and production-‘To do’ lists, action plans, evaluations, notes to self, organizing yourself/ time management, reviews of own progress/ performance.
Practical skills-Making work, experimenting with process or material, develop/ improve/ refine, range of alternatives considered/ explored.
Evaluation and reflection-Evaluation of experiments and outcomes and review/ self assessment of own performance against these 7 grading criteria. Thoughts, plans, observations in journal, sketchbook, blog.
Presentation-Careful presentation of ALL work in sketchbook, journal, blog, portfolio and exhibition.
