Flashback to a moment a few months ago -- finally a solo pic with one of my heartstrings! Because Facebook reminded me we need more pics of just us two out in the interwebs. 😂. Love you @ms_new_lee! #friends #myhitta #sisterfriend #selfie #myblackisbeautiful

2016 in reflection part 2... As I gear up to head back into reality in 2017 (aka back to work), I can't help but reflect on the last year. I claimed 2016 as my year of new adventures and it certainly was... From starting a new position and getting a promotion; creating new organizations (Squad Up!) and traditions at Binghamton University; cultivating new, deepening current and reconnecting with old friendships; taking golf lessons; embracing the camera; seeing a therapist (definitely recommended for those in inclusion work); taking on a professional organization position; serving on a regional conference committee (twice); traveling at least once in 7 months of the year including five states and an international trip to Mexico (shout out to @dynamitetravel, book with them and you won't regret it!); to finally learning to carve out me time-- 2016 may have had it's challenges, but it certainly was an amazing year! Thanks to all of my family, framily, BCFs, the girls, the caucus, my mentors, my champions, my colleagues, my Culture Squad, my students and all my followers for joining and supporting me on my journey--You Rock! #NewYear #NewAdventures #BetterMe #Reflections #Throwback #myblackisbeautiful (at Endwell, New York)
"For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed—a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: 'The righteous will live by faith.'” -Romans 1:17. Happy Kwanzaa day 7: Imani or faith. Imani reminds us to believe with all our heart in our people, our parents, our teachers, our leaders and the righteousness and victory of our struggle. Imani is more than faith in our righteous God; it's also about believing in the power of your community and the fight for justice. This year I am committed to centering myself in spiritual faith as well as the firm belief that we, collectively, will make progress in the fight for human rights, equity and equality for all! #kwanzaa #habarigani #imani #faith #thegoodfight #myblackisbeautiful (at Endwell, New York)
2016 in reflection part one... A few great moments indeed. Thanks for following along and liking my randomness. #2016bestnine (at Endwell, New York)
About yesterday and bringing in the New Year with a whole lot of sparkle! Happy New Year! #NYE2016 #NewYear #myblackisbeautiful #funtimes #silly
"To live a creative life we must lose our fear of being wrong." -Joseph Pearce. Happy Kwanzaa Day 6 (i'm a little late with this one): Kuumba, the principle of creativity! Kuumba empowers us to always do as much as we can, in order to leave our community more beautiful and beneficial than we inherited it. Kuumba is my spirit principle; being creative gives me so much love, light and renewed energy. In 2017 I will continue to live in my free-spirited, unique authenticity and branded truth. God gives us colorful and vivid dreams so we can freely chase and bring them to life - your dreams are yours, own them! #kwanzaa #creativity #freespirit #imagination #dreams #Habarigani #ilovecolors (at Endwell, New York)
Floating into 2017 like... Happy New Year!!! #selfie #myblackisbeautiful
"There is no greater gift you give or receive than to honor your calling. It is why you were born. And how you become most truly alive." -Oprah Winfrey. Happy Kwanza day 5: Nia or purpose. Nia means to set goals that build, and are beneficial to the community and greater good. Clarifying your purpose and sharing those things that uplift, inspire and empower others. #kwanzaa #habarigani #purpose #purposedriven #goals #myblackisbeautiful #happyholidays (at Endwell, New York)
"A sustainable world means working together to create prosperity for all." -Jacqueline Novogratz. Happy Kwanzaa day 4: Ujamaa, or cooperative economics. Meaning sharing of resources i.e. time, talents, money or involvement because investing into our community is an investment in ourselves. Ujamaa also reminds us to produce and maintain the growth of our communities sustainably. We must be stewards of the Earth. We are a global community, invested and connected to each other and our planet like a chain; if one suffers, we all suffer! #kwanzaa #habarigani #cooperativeeconomics #Ujamaa #happyholidays (at Endwell, New York)
Flashback to last Friday and doing a little service with @queensrecognizequeens. We had such a wonderful time giving out coats, coffee and treats to people in need. The real joy of the season! #happyholidays #ujima #collectivework #sharedresponsibility #service #giving #kwanzaa #myblackisbeautiful (at Binghamton Salvation Army)
"Do your little bit of good where you are; it's those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world." -Desmond Tutu. ・・・ Happy Kwanzaa Day 3: Ujima (my favorite principle), collective work and responsibility -- to build and maintain our community together and to make our brother's and sister's problems, our problems and to solve them together... Ujima is a commitment to active and informed togetherness on matters of common interest. #habarigani #kwanzza #ujima #collectivework #giving #service #sharedresponsibility #happyholidays (at Endwell, New York)
"You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them." -Maya Angelou. Happy Kwanzaa Day 2: Kujichagulia! Kujichagulia is self-determination; to define and name ourselves, as well as to create and speak for ourselves. #kwanzaa #kujichagulia #habarigani #happykwanzaa #selfdetermination #happyholidays (at Endwell, New York)
Happy Kwanzaa! And then there was Umoja (unity) -- "One love, one heart . . . Let’s get together and feel all right." -Bob Marley 🎶. #Kwanzaa #happyholidays #myblackisbeautiful 📽by @lanebryant
