MY HEART IS SCREECHING . . . DA BBY'S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
with @ujima, kida and t'challa. — do you ache for me?
kida did not anticipate hearing such a forward question... but then again, she did not anticipate any of this. t'challa's presence, his feelings, her feelings, even. the two are leaders of their own people, guardians of their own worlds, and yet... it is near-impossible to deny the connection. magnetism. true harmony. the new queen has breathed easier since t'challa arrived to assist her people — he comes with soldiers and training, intelligence, strength, kindness... he comes with knowledge from the surface, a place kida has never known. of course her curiosity would drive her closer, and, in doing so, allow the queen to feel new interest. she's navigating it as best as she can, playing around with the idea, all while attempting to remain poised, royal, and respectable on atlantean soil. t'challa does the same... although his question tonight, prompted from a long silence, has her heart fluttering and her tongue go dry.
"i thought we agreed not to talk about that." there's a coyness to her voice as she sits on the nearest stone chair, reclining, eyes drawn up to his eyes. "for our people. knowing you must return to wakanda, and i must stay in atlantis to rule my home. for their sake, we agreed to... keep our feelings away from this." though kida does glance downward briefly, she struggles to keep her gaze away from him. reluctantly, she looks back up. her voice hesitates. "you already know how i feel."

❛ grief is special to those who carry it. ❜ / @ujima
“ I HATE TO admit it, but grief is a subject i am well versed in. ” does having to hurt the one she loved most count as such a thing? the way she grieves what once was, what could have been, must. “ i am met with it daily when doing my job. ”
❝ It's a very dangerous game you're playing, your highness. What happened? Give all your advisors the week off, or something? ❞
That's not admonishment in her voice! Ah, she'd love to admit that the devious melody riding like laughter underneath her words was admiration for @ujima, but she had such bigger fish to fry at the moment. It was, honestly, almost too heavy for her to juggle.
Almost.
❝ See, I know I tripped an alarm system about ... two minutes ago. ❞
Not the dummy one, only had half-hidden between panes of attack barriers to catch anyone lucky enough to get past the firewall. No, she'd tripped a silent one. A single line, code so elegant as to be gossamer thin, that she'd only just missed. Didn't wanna talk about that.
And yet?
❝ No chatter. No sweeps. No claws at my throat? A girl could take this kind of thing personally... if she wasn't so impressed. ❞
interaction call.
