Two people who struggled in the first season by wanting to be helpful or be an inspiration to their teammates but ultimately failing—Axel genuinely caring for her teammates and trying to play the leader role yet her brash and impulsive disposition ultimately costing her the boot or Nichelle being a popular actress thus initially having everyone adore her, only for their positive perceptions of her to get crushed once they realized her numerous skills in the roles she plays don’t actually translate well into real life. With the leaks of the new season revealing that they’re on the same team and that Nichelle seemingly wins a challenge for her team, this springs up a lot of new, and intriguing possible developments for their relationship! Axel starting to admire Nichelle for her unexpected achievements, helping her improve her physique amongst other important assets for the competition (you know the scene where she talks about super strong tape that can reattach a wing back to its plane? yeah, Axel suggesting or showing more ultra-specific weapons and tools and inventions for survival purposes to Nichelle and her being impressed yet befuddled), or helping her understand that one’s self-worth shouldn’t be determined by how others perceive you (since compared to Nichelle, Axel worries little about people’s opinions towards her). As for Axel, considering Nichelle is a popular celebrity and definitely has a LOT of connections with other people, she can definitely help Axel to think more before she speaks/acts and otherwise strengthen her interpersonal dynamics with others in the game so she could stay longer in the competition. Besides, she can give credit where credit is due, Nichelle definitely respects Axel’s strong-minded and determined attitude about her pursuits. So yeah, allies to friends to lovers Action Movie sweep. Axel falling for Nichelle’s drive to improve herself and her self-confidence and Nichelle falling for Axel’s self-sufficiency and how much of a fucking badass she is at almost everything she sets her mind to do! Besides, Action Movie is an awesome name, what’s not to love about it?"
