“Be a kid who loves surprises. Squeal with delight over puppies and cupcakes and birthday parties. Be curious, but content. Be loyal, but independent. Be kind. To everyone. Treat every day like you’re making waffles. Don’t settle for the first guy (or girl) unless he’s the right guy (or girl). Live your effing life. Do so with gusto, because my God, there’s nothing sorrier than gusto-less experience. Know yourself. Love yourself. Be a good friend. Be a kid of hope and substance. Be a kid of appetite.” - David Arnold, Mosquitoland (via the-book-diaries)

A case for more video content
Videos enhance web pages because videos represent human communication better than static web pages. Videos can capture nuances of body language and vocal inflection that is very clumsy to replicate with text. Additionally, for language learners, listening to the way native speakers enunciate is helpful to learn how to properly pronounce new words. When reading, language learners need to sound out words for themselves, but if they consume video content, learners have a standard with which to judge their pronunciation against.
Videos can also be retrofitted with closed captioning smoothly for those that speak another language or those with hearing loss. Thus, the body language implications of people in the moving video can be correlated with words viewers are familiar with. In the case of text, closed captioning captures attention in videos because new text constantly shows up and the motion of videos provide stimulus. On the other hand, a giant wall of text (like this one!) is easy to zone out on while scrolling past, especially in a language one is not familiar with. Video enhances user experience on a webpage by providing a dynamic delivery of content. Videos are also easier to consume for the same reason. Users do not have to scroll and read with videos, they can simply listen, which is a much more natural human way to consume content.
Psychologically, reading an article online is very impersonal, but putting a face or object to a story via video gives the reader a place to emotionally connect with the content they are presented with. Videos also have the benefit of ambient audio, which set the tone of a video by transporting viewers into the scenery of the content. Thus, viewers will be further immersed into whatever the content creators wished to convey.
Videos are easier for viewers to consume. However, text-only web pages will probably never fully vanish, due to the fact that text takes less memory to store, is easier to create and easier to create different language-based versions of. However, the ease of text does not negate the benefits of video for the user experience.

You could completely remove the semi colon from keyboards and the majority of people wouldn’t notice until they wanted to send someone a wink.
