When a dog is abused: Abuser gets charged with animal cruelty, their mugshot is printed in the local newspaper as Facebook shares the photo of the helpless animal, thousands of comments build below the photo, everyone is disgusted in humanity, many people suggest the abuser who suffer the way the dog suffered.

When a cow dies: 33 million are killed in a year, 99% were raised in factory farms where horrid living conditions and constant abuse is normal. No one wants to here about how they suffered because most Americans want to continue eating their dead bodies. No criminal charges, no angry facebook rants calling for justice, no happy endings- just billions of dollars made over the mass killing of a defenseless animals.

One of these is seen as an unspeakable abuse, the other is simply “food”. Let’s stop holding one species higher than another and treat all animals the way we treat the ones we call pets.
