House zine! Words from anything by adrianne lenker
[looking at people younger than me] you have your whole life ahead of you [looking at people older than me] you have your whole life ahead of you [looking at myself] its over
no one says big mood anymore. no one even says mood. no one says anything. all thats left is a dry wind, that scours my face until i bleed
The first art installation I’ve ever experienced was my parents home
if we all moved into a big house together none of this would be necessary anymore
I wonder if I’ll be fond of this period of my life in the future. If I’ll look back and think about all the poems I read or learning stick shift. About my job being a block away from home or discovering ceramics. How the palms sway on Venice Blvd. It feels like everything is always changing. I’m always saying the wrong thing and realizing too late. A little too excited and off putting. In this time period of my life I worry about how my stomach looks in jeans or if I’m walking like a duck. If I’m forgetting some deadline or if they should just take me out back. About my gap teeth. I’m very conscious of myself these days. Did I eat something green? Did I remember my step dad in my prayers? I’m praying which is strange to say bc i dont know god. But they say he knows me. Dear god, please let me have proper posture, good hygiene and a stomach that looks good in jeans. That I’ll remember this time and look back at how bad I felt about myself and feel silly. Amen.
