Likes shouldn’t impact your sense of self-worth in any way. The major reason why I have so many followers is that my content is trendy. I post colourful pictures mostly displaying deliciously artistic food bowls or overflowing nicecream cups. I am just lucky that the food I love is also popular in the vast Instagram community.

Image quality & proper editing are big factors but you don’t need to be a professional to get attention on this platform. Sh*tty pictures can also get a ton of likes if they are controversial or draw attention in whatever extraordinary way. Likes on Instagram are like a big unpredictable monster that feeds on contemporary appeals and gets bored really fast. 👹

You need to keep reinventing yourself and never rest on your achievements. However, do not ever base your success on likes. In the 5 years I’ve been active on this platform I have seen major algorithm changes at least a dozen times. People complain, get desperate, and in the end you only hurt yourself because you’ve put too much value in an external instance you can’t control (and that doesn’t define your worth/skills etc.!!!)

The reason why I keep on posting is my desire to share & connect. I don’t post for validation. I know my content is good because I feel the excitement within myself. I trust my intuition and write captions straight from my heart. And that’s what it all comes down to - if it excites you, it’s the right thing to do. That’s basically how life works. Follow your highest excitement - and let excitement by your reward. ✨
