[Rowan climbed up into her chariot as well, marveling at it, at all of the buttons and gadgets. It was amazing. She rolled her eyes jokingly.] “No way is your chariot cooler than mine. It looks just like the night sky. It’s amazing!” [She laughed excitedly, admiring the paint for a couple more seconds before tightening her ponytail, getting ready to go.]

[As Teddy jolted out, Rowan felt a tremor of fear of being left alone, of being left out, of something bad happening if they weren’t together as he went, and she immediately started flying after him, trying to catch up.] “Teddy, wait up!” [She called, trying not to sound desperate and scared. This was her first mission to prove she could do this like her parents and older sister had.] “We have to do this together!”

[Teddy wasn’t quite sure how to pull back the reins and slow down his speed, so instead he looped in a circle around Rowan. Fortunately for his partner, he interpreted her voice as scolding rather than scared of being left behind, and as he looped around her then finally fell into sync beside her, he whooped loudly.] “Ya hooooooo! Come on, Rowan, this is fun! Lighten up a little -- don’t be so dark side of the moon.”

[Still, even as Teddy was grinning wickedly, a little part of him was afraid that they’d get to the crime sight and he’d have no idea how to help. Over the wind whipping in his face, he shouted to Rowan, hoping she’d have the answers he so sorely was lacking.] “So what do you think this is? A robbery? A fire? Oooh, maybe there’s a killer gorilla loose on the streets?”

[Adrenaline coursed through her, but the nerves pushed out of her body as she watched his excitement. How as he not nervous? How was he just a ball of excitement and energy? Still, it gave her something to focus on besides her racing heart. This was a moment. Maybe even the moment. She had to be calm, like her parents had taught her. Like the school had taught her. Everyone was counting on her to not have a meltdown of nerves: the school, her parents, the town, and Teddy. She couldn’t let them down. She nodded at his command and took off for the storage unit.]

“Chariots, I think. Like the gods. That’s what my parents told me to expect, anyway.” [She rolled her eyes jokingly, but she turned back to the task at hand. When she reached the door, she placed her hand on the sensor, opening it up to reveal two chariots: one of blacks and silvers and the other of gold.] “Viola. Guess they didn’t want us getting confused over who’s was who’s, huh?” [She stood for one more second before taking off toward her chariot.] “Come on! No time to waste!” [She clambered up into her chariot, waiting for Teddy to do the same, waiting for her heart to stop trying to leap out of her throat.]

"Oh. Right. Chariots." [Teddy bobbed his head in agreement, as if he'd known that all along and had just been trying to make a joke. And it made sense, it did -- he just never slowed down long enough to see the obvious right before his eyes. Sometimes it was a wonder that he'd passed superhero training at all, but his heart was in the right place, and he assumed that counted for something, since he was still here in this line of work right now. He followed Rowan and when the door swung open he did a fist pump, stoked that she had been right.] "Oh man, my chariot looks so much cooler than yours, I wonder if it flies faster, too."

[Teddy lunged for the driver's seat of his, although somehow Rowan was already seated in hers, looking perfectly ready to go. He guessed that staring in awe at it had lost him some time, but he wasn't going to waste anymore now.] "What does this switch -- woah, awesome!" [Teddy trailed off mid-sentence as she pushed the button that opened up the hangar, leaving them room to fly out. And though he was supposed to be waiting for Rowan and letting her take the lead, he didn't want to wait anymore -- he ushered his chariot into motion, shooting out into the wide open sky before he had a chance to even find out which way he was supposed to be going.] "Hurry up, slowpoke!"

[Her heartbeat thumped in her chest as she waited, trying to calm down. It wasn’t just adrenaline at their first real assignment, but they had barely any time to get to know each other. What if they weren’t compatible as heroes? What if they weren’t good at picking up on each other’s cues? She tried to shake the thoughts from her head. The school had done their best to pair up people they thought would be successful in stopping crime, and she had to trust them. Her nerves calmed a little when Teddy reappeared in his bright costume, and she gave a smile] “Artemis reporting for duty as well. Let’s kick some bad guy butt!”

[She let him drag her toward the door, adrenaline and excitement quickly surpassing her nerves, getting hyped up on his energy. This is what she was born to do -what they were born to do- and it was time to do it.] “The commander sent me the coordinates. We’re heading downtown. Let’s do this thing!” [She was afraid she was going to start sounding lame, and tried to picture how cool and calm her parents would be in this position, but that had never worked as well for her and she was ready to do this, ready to really get started]

[Teddy was already on an adrenaline high, so he didn’t let the mention of Rowan already having the coordinates bring him down. Maybe later, when he was trying to fall asleep under his brand new roof and had time to think about it, he’d be deflated at the fact that she’d had the coordinates sent to her, and he’d been left out of the loop. Was Rowan the leader? Was Teddy not seen as responsible enough? He had the powers of the sun on his side; he was totally qualified, and right now, he was also totally eager and raring to go.] “Well, lead the way then! We don’t have time to waste here!”

[Teddy snapped his fingers, ready to run after Rowan at the drop of a hat. Or was running not the best way to go?] “Do we have like a motorcycle or something? Like that cool one they had in the Dark Knight movies, with the rotating wheels? I bet I’d be awesome at driving one of those towards a fight, we’d get there so fast.” [Damn, Teddy wished he was more prepared for this mission, but they’d been thrown into things so fast that he was playing catchup when they were already technically on their first mission.]

[To say that Rowan wasn’t nervous would have been a lie. Who would have expected that the first day of moving in would be the day? Even her parents had told her not to worry, that it would just be orientation and getting to know her new partner a little better. She looked at Teddy with wide eyes, the surprise and fear mirroring what seemed like his own as she hastily nodded.] “Yeah. I think so. It might be a drill but… I’ve never heard of that. Especially not before orientation. So I think it’s time to go.”

[She watched him rip through the boxes again and nodded] “Okay. See you in a second.” [Rowan waited until she was sure he was out of sight before reaching down to pull up her shirt with shaking hands. Not only nerves climbing through her, but adrenaline as well. She pulled her shirt off to reveal the top of her costume -some superhero cliches never die- and hurriedly removed the rest to reveal her full costume, silvers and blacks to emulate the moon and stars. She pulled her hair from it’s messy ponytail ad took a deep, shaky breath. They had this. She was Artemis after all. It was time to start proving that meant something. Taking a few more calming breaths, she waited for Teddy to reappear.]

[Teddy was amazed that he didn’t trip over himself, with the way he was rushing to get ready and get back out the door again. He didn’t know what issue was more pressing right now: the need to get out there and go save the city, or the ned to impress his new partner. One way or the other, they’d be stuck working together, and if he made a bad impression right off the start, it could be a rough time of things saving the world. Stumbling back out into the main room, Teddy was still finishing shoving one arm into his uniform as he skidded to a halt in front of Rowan.] “Apollo reporting for duty!”

[He glanced back and forth between her dark, night-like uniform and his fairly bright, gaudy one. But he’d been taught to shine like the sun, and he wasn’t going to let the stark contrast slow him down. Teddy didn’t waste any time grabbing her hand and tugging her towards the door, always one to operate on his own schedule.] “How can we tell where the alarm’s coming from? Are we supposed to have some sort of GPS coordinator, or should we just follow the sirens?” [Now that he was ready to go, Teddy couldn’t help but let the adrenaline get the best of him, hopping up and down impatiently.] “We’ve got some crime to bust!”

[Rowan pulled her hair into a low ponytail, hoping it would keep her from getting too hot as she unloaded another box into the headquarters. It was surreal, already being a part of a team so soon after graduation, but she was ready to get going. She jumped when she heard the noise, before realizing what it was, turning to look at Teddy.] “I think that’s our cue.”

[It was a lucky thing Teddy had already put his latest box down, because he might have dropped it in surprise, either from the noise or from Rowan’s reply. They hadn’t even all properly been introduced yet -- he’d been sure there was some orientation to get them settled that was planned for later this afternoon, and now she was saying it was their cue? He opened his mouth and closed it a few times, sputtering before finally getting his words out.] “Cue, like... to go stop a bad guy? NOW?”

[Teddy started ripping open boxes on the counter until he found the one he was looking for, tugging his costume out of it. He probably should have worn it under his clothes, but he’d been expecting a nice, normal day... He guessed maybe that wasn’t in the cards for someone who was now a superhero.] “Okay, I guess -- uh, let me change real quick, I’ll be right back.”

[Teddy brushed a drop of sweat off the his brow as he lifted another box and carried it into their new headquarters. It seemed like graduation was just yesterday, and now he was already moving in and becoming a part of a superhero team. Heaving the box onto a counter to be unpacked later, he was about to head down to get the next load of things when a loud noise started blaring, and he turned to Rowan, looking bewildered.] “Um, what’s that?”
