Name: Lokni Hughes Age: 30 years old, birthday July 7th, 1994 Gender & Pronouns: Cis Man - He/Him Place of Birth: Buena Vista, Califonia, USA
Personage: Previous Occupation: ranch hand on a ranch in Oregon Powers: Storm Manipulation, capable of controlling different elements of a storm. Languages: English, Spanish, and Moquelumnan First Impressions: Lokni tends to keep to himself, not for want of solidarity, but because he's found himself in a very alien situation. Completely out of his element, he's doing his best to perceive the situation and understand where everyone is coming from. He may be slow to speak but is patient and rarely loses his temper.
Plot Ideas:
survivalist: if there's one good thing about being in this situation, it's that Lokni has a lot of hands-on skills that can be utilized in this field. He knows a myriad of knots, how to get a fire going, water filtration, how to make a lean-to, etc. Despite his lack of higher education, his experience in his field of work might just pay off here.
companionship: Lokni found it hard to make friends throughout his life, but with this huge change of scenery and the need to rely on as well as help others, maybe he'll be able to find companionship or even love in the most mysterious of places.
mystery/adventure: I love a good mystery and love to solve things, almost to an obsessive point. I'm so curious and excited to see what mysteries this island and the people stuck on it hold.
powers: after living a relatively unremarkable life, suddenly coming into a powerful ability at the same time as others has come at a shock. He wants to know why all of this has happened, and why he and the others were chosen. What's the meaning of all of this?
Appearance: Height: 6' Eyes: Brown Hair: Black, worn long, altering between worn down or in a ponytail considering the situation Build: Built from manual labor, overall well-proportioned Tattoos: None Piercings: Earlobes only
Background: Nationality: Native American, Miwok Family: Mother, father is deceased, doesn't know his grandparents due to familial disputes early on. This led to a large rift in the family, isolating him and his mother from their relatives. Was this for the better or worse, who really knows? Lokni and his mother are very close, his mother made many sacrifices to give Lokni a good life, and so he is doing his best to do the same in his adult life.
Bullet Points:
- Lokni was born on a reservation in Buena Vista, California but would later on move to Oregon.
- Lokni is the only child in his family with his mother due to his father passing away in his early childhood. He does not have many memories of his father but feels a great sense of responsibility in making sure that he helps take care of his mother just as she worked so hard to take care of him during his childhood.
- Throughout Lokni’s life he never excelled at anything. Very few things came naturally to him and instead he had to work hard to achieve things that he wanted in life. Thanks to this attitude however, he developed a hard work ethic and was able to accomplish things consistently. If anything, he is reliable and once learned a new skill is not quick to forget it.
- He went through most of his adolescence keeping his head down and staying out of trouble, for the most part at least. However, due to this approach he had a hard time making friends and really standing up for himself when push came to shove. In a way this made Lokni a bit clumsy socially, but he was able to make up for it through his work ethic and loyalty.
- What he lacked socially he made up for in finding peace and commune with nature. He found that he was comfortable around animals as well as places less touched by humanity. His mother often joked that he had, “found his peace at the heart of the storm.” Instead of pursuing a higher education after graduating high school he decided to work alongside his mother at the ranch, finding his peace and satisfaction with working on the land and also learning to live alongside it. He had steadily been saving his money to eventually go to a community college to get his degree in forestry, ecology, conservation, or something of that caliber in hopes of finding something that he might actually excel at.
- From a young age he spent a lot of time working on the ranch with his mother. They were given free lodging and meals for their efforts as well as their wages. Honestly, for mother and son it wasn’t a bad deal. The manual labor was hard but after the years went on and he grew stronger he became accustom to it. He found that working with the animals was much easier for him. He’d take herding cattle or saddling the horses over unloading the hay trailer any day.
- Before coming to the island Lokni had finally accomplished something noteworthy, and right when all the pieces seemed to be coming together, he was suddenly on the island, as if the Thunderbird had sent him.
- This place is unlike anything Lokni has ever encountered. He didn’t really like vacations, preferring to do things that were more active. A cruise ship is honestly one of the last places you’d find him. That being said, coming to a shipwrecked cruise ship thousands of miles from the sleepy, yet stable life he knew is way beyond him. He feels completely out of his element- and yet at the same time feels a hunger to find out the mysteries of the island and of course get to know the people he shipwrecked with. After all, we all are here for a reason… right?
- He desperately needs to get home. His mother needs him, the ranch needs him. How did all of this happen in the first place?
