Jowd and Yomiel
Jowd was sitting down in front of the visitorâs center from prison, waiting for the blond man to come. It had become an habit for the detective to come and see the man who started everything. Jowd knew Yomielâs pain, more than anything else in the world, after all, he, himself, had been behind bars, feeling sorry for himself and wanting nothing more than to end his pathetic existence. He didnât want Yomiel to have the same thoughts, so the detective kept coming to talk to him about it, help keep his head in the right place.
As soon as the blond man appeared, Jowd opened a warm, friendly smile, though Yomielâs face retained his sorrowful expression. He rolled on his wheelchair and positioned himself in front of the detective, facing him from the opposite side of the glass window.
âDetective.â He said in a calm, neutral tone.
âYomiel.â The detective replied back, smiling at the man. âHow is your recovery doing?â He glanced briefly at the wheelchair.
âOh?â Yomielâs gaze followed the detectiveâs, looking into his own wheelchair. âItâs⊠going okay I guess. The physiotherapist says I will be able to walk again if we keep doing the physiotherapy sessions, though right now my legs arenât strong enough to walk on my own yet. Everything hurts and even if I do my recovery well as the doctor says, I will still suffer chronic pain for a long time to come, maybe all my life. But thatâs a small price to pay, for all the trouble I caused everyone.â
Jowd couldnât see his eyes behind the dark lenses, but he could guess Yomielâs gaze darkened as he recalled the events of that fateful night.
âYomielâŠâ The detective started, sounding calm. âI already told you. I forgave you. For everything.â
Yomiel simply shrugged, lifting his gaze back to the man in front of him.
âWhy, Jowd?â
âI forgave you because I saw that you were truly sorry for the role you played in what happened. Itâs as simple as that. How can I unforgive what has already been forgiven? It is over. It is done. Why do you doubt that? Why do you question it?â
Yomiel shakes his head and looks away from him. His shoulders come up in a half-shrug, as if the answer is obvious and it just hasnât occurred to the detective yet.
âBecause I donât deserve your forgiveness.â
Jowd should probably have expected it. Yomiel wasn't really that different from him.
âWhat do you want me to say, Yomiel? That I finally got my revenge on you? You're the one behind bars now, thinking he doesn't deserve a second chance because he did something awful. You're feeling the exact same pain I felt, during these past years. And yet, seeing you like that... It doesn't bring me joy. Not when I understand what you're feeling, more than anyone else. Revenge is a pitiful thing that doesn't bring any satisfaction. You should know that, even more than me.â
Yomiel lifted his head to stare at the man sitting across from him. It was hard to read his expression behind the shades covering his eyes, but it was as if Jowd could feel the sting of pain and guilt behind them. They were too familiar for the detective.
âJowd, I took your daughter hostage. I manipulated her to alter her contraption and kill her own mother. Your wife. I manipulated her again and wanted to make her kill you. You're saying you forgive that?â
Jowd shook his head.
âAnd I have all the right to be mad at you for that. But this Kamila haven't experienced any of it. If she remembered, then I would find it more difficult to forgive you for that, yes. But she doesn't. Neither does Alma. You did nothing to them, in this new present. So why should I be mad at something that didn't happen this time around?â
Yomiel chuckled inwardly, refusing to let Jowd's words get to him. He couldn't understand how this man could forgive him, after everything he did.
âJowdââ The detective didn't let him continue.
âYou are not that same man anymore, Yomiel. Why is it so hard for you to see that? I saw the way you helped in the end. Saw how much you tried to help Lynne, the girl you were so desperately trying to ruin. You risked your own life for her. That's when I saw that the Manipulator was gone, dead. You are a new man now Yomiel. Rejoyce this fact... And live your life. The woman you love is waiting for you, just outside these bars.â
Yomiel felt tears coming to his eyes, but he refused to let them fall. He didn't want to break down in front of the detective, didn't want him to see his most vulnerable side. Even with all these words, Yomiel refused to believe he was worthy of anything, let alone Jowd's forgiveness.
âShe doesn't know the monster I became. She doesn't deserve me. Iââ
âYomiel!â It was the first time Jowd raised his voice since this conversation started.
âHaven't you listened to what I just said? You are not that man anymore. She doesn't know and she never will. It shouldn't matter.â
And yet, to Yomiel, it still did. It still hurt to know what he had been able to do, when left at the bottom of despair.

Yomiel and FianSissel
Sissel had come to visit Yomiel, just like she always did, everyday, ever since he was arrested. Ever since the incident, Yomiel had a stranger air of self-deprecation and guilt and he was far from the man she once knew. Sure, Yomiel wasnât the cheerful, optimistic type, not when his life had been trauma conga line, one after the other, with an alcoholic mother, an absent father and all the bullying the suffered when they were both in school, but still, he wasnât so down likeâŠ. that. She could understand why though, but even soâŠ
âSisselâŠâ Yomiel let out a sad sigh as he stared at her through the other side of the glass window. âWhy would you waste your time waiting for me? You deserve someone better.â
Sissel felt her throat tightening at his words. Her heart clenching inside.
âWhat makes you think that?â
âI threatened a child, Sissel! I could have killed her!â
âYou wouldnât.â
Yomiel shook his head.
âYou don't know that.â
She lifted her eyes back at him with fierce determination.
âYou're not that kind of person, Yomiel. You wouldn't have hurt that child.â
Yomiel looked back at her, chuckling to himself and shaking his head. Thinking how he manipulated Kamila to alter her own contraption to kill her mother.
âWhat if I did? Would you still think that?â He blurted out before he could stop himself. Sissel stood firm, however.
âI know you. You wouldnât.â The fierce determination in her eyes as she said this was enough to confirm to Yomiel that if she knew the truth of that night, of what he did... She would never forgive him. And that thought was like a knife being twisted in his heart.
âYomiel... You risked your life to save that child... Detective Jowd told me. You could have died in that park! You saved her! You are a good man! D-Do you know what could have happened if you died there? If you... If you died there... I-I wouldâveââ
Her voice broke as tears started to form in her eyes.
âSTOP!â He suddenly yelled, looking into her eyes. âDon't say it. Please donât.â
âIâveââ She sobbed.
âSissel, DONâT!â He knew what was coming. He didnât want to hear it. She lowered her eyes, finally letting her tears fall,
âI would prefer to die than to live in a world without you.â
As soon as she said those words, Yomiel couldn't help it. Looking at her, he could see in his mind the exact scene he saw when he got home. Of her cold body, devoid of her smile, completely lifeless. The shock and the awful realization hitting him when he saw the suicide note. Yomiel immediately broke down in tears, sobbing uncontrollably as the memories flooded him.
âYomielâŠâ Sissel tried to get his attention back. Damn it, how much she wished she could hold his hand. He couldnât reply, he couldnât say anything, he could just sob.
âI-I'm sorry Sissel I canâtâ I need a minute, pleaseâŠâ
Sissel felt her heart clenching in her chest. She didnât want her first talk with him to be like this... But she respected his wish and stood up from the chair. âIâll come later.â And she walked off the room. Just as she was outside, she brought her handkerchief from her purse and allowed herself to cry, not wanting to break down in front of him to make things worse.
âHow did it go?â Detective Jowd asked when Sissel came out, sniffing.
âI... I hoped it would be better... I made him cry.â She said quietly. Jowd raised an eyebrow.
âReally? What did you say?â Sissel sniffed, looking at the detective.
âHe asked me why I was waiting for him. He kept insisting he wasn't a good man. I told him I believed he would never hurt that girl, that he even risked his life to save her...â She gulped down a sob. âI told him that if he had died... I would prefer to die than to live without him.â
Ah. Jowd immediately understood why Yomiel broke down now. The fact that he was so immersed in his guilt to have insisted he wasn't a good man was such a familiar feeling to Jowd. Which seemed rather ironic to have his own former enemy in the same situation as him.
âHe's just going through a lot right now, Sissel. Give him some time, he'll get over it.â Sissel sniffed again.
âI know. Thank you so much for all the support, Detective Jowd.â The detective put a large hand over the petite woman's shoulder. âIt's the least I can do. I could have killed him that day in the park. I'm still really sorry for that.â
âIt's okay, detective. What matters in the end is that you are helping him now. Let's not think about what could have happened. What matters is now.â
âYou could tell that to him.â Jowd said with a bittersweet smile. He was tired of telling this to Yomiel, maybe he would listen if it came from Miss Sissel instead. âIf you ever need someone to talk to, you can always call me or Alma, okay? You're not alone anymore, Sissel.â
Sissel smiled weakly, nodding as she wiped her tears. âThank you so much detective.â
Reposting my fiansissel design so she appears on the new tags.
More info on her bellow the cut!
Sissel had always lived with her widowed father. Her mother died when she was still an infant from a decease, but she is always wearing her late motherâs scarf in her memory.
Sissel was a child when she first met Yomiel. They both attended the same school and she always felt bad for him, seeing how he was always so lonely and was always being bullied by other kids in school, so one day she defended him from the bullies who were tormenting him and introduced herself. Since Yomiel never had any friends, they quickly became very close friends and they spend the majority of their childhood together. But then she had to move to another country after her father got transferred for his job and they were forced to separate. She gave Yomiel her late motherâs red scarf as a way for him to remember her until she returns and Yomiel promised her he would give her the scarf back when they see each other again. (You can read the fanfic here! )
She came back years later, when she met Yomiel again, now as a teenager. Their friendship still remained strong, but it soon turned into something more as puberty hit them both and they started to see each other as more than just friends. Sissel started to find Yomielâs clumsiness and awkwardness near her really cute and she finds his intelligence to be very attractive. She is really impressed at his great skills with computers and she often teases him about it. She also became quite popular in high school, attracting the eyes of many boys, but she only has eyes for her best friend, Yomiel. She often defended Yomiel whenever a bully mistreated him and she suports Yomiel with his family issues and is always there for him whenever he is feeling depressed about his family, serving as an emotional support for him.Â
Sissel knew of his troubles with his family and often tried to help him out. Even her father would help him sometimes, since Yomiel and his mother had finantial difficulties from time to time. The bullying he suffers in school didnât help him with his mental health either.
Her friendship with Yomiel soon blossoms into a teenage love and they start to date as soon as they graduate from High School. She pursues a career as an art teacher while Yomiel studies to become a Systems Engineer.
In their adulthood, Yomiel asks her hand in marriage and she accepts, but her father gets really ill and dies shortly after, leaving Sissel in a state of deep depression, since she was very close to her father, leaving only Yomiel to comfort her.
In the bad timeline (the one in which Yomiel dies after being struck by the Temsik meteorite) she canât stand to live in a world without the man she loved ever since she was a child and being in a state of depression after her fatherâs death and now Yomielâs, she canât bear it anymore and commits suicide to join her beloved in the afterlife, without knowing of Yomielâs undead status.
In the good timeline (averted fate) she is upset to learn about Yomielâs arrest, but she still waits for him because he is the man she always loved ever since she was a child, even going as far as to break ties with the rest of her family for disapproving their union (since Yomiel became a âcriminalâ for taking a little girl hostage, her family now hates Yomiel and disaprooves of their union)
But sheâs still really vulnerable because Yomiel just got arrested, almost lost his life in a terrible accident and sheâs still trying to deal with the loss of her father. But luckly, thatâs when Alma kicks in. Alma tries to comfort Sissel when they met in the hospital and Jowd encourages his wife to get close to Sissel and comfort her in any way she can, since Jowd now knows of Sisselâs suicide thanks to Yomiel and heâs afraid of what might happen to Sissel if sheâs left unsupervised. So Sissel and Alma become really close friends during the time Yomiel is in prison, since Alma is always there to show Sissel her support, knowing how much the woman is distressed about everything thatâs going on in her life right now.
So, Sissel in general is a really caring and loving woman who loves too much. Her love for her father was so great that when she lost him, she only had Yomiel as a support and when she lost that support too in a short time period, she became so desperate that she didnât see an alternative and chose to end her life and rejoin her beloved in the afterlife. She relies on people close to her for support and she loses that support, she is in complete despair. But luckly both Alma and Jowd supported her when Yomiel was in prison and helped her along. She also waited for Yomiel, just like when they were children and Yomiel kept his promisse to wait for her. Her love for him is that strong, though I still believe that if she knew the truth about that night, it could still stain their relationship a lot, since she knew him from childhood and never would expect him to do the things he did. (And thatâs why I prefer her to never find out about it in the first place. Let her live in sweet oblivion!) âCause like, I canât really imagine a good outcome if she knew. She would probably refuse to accept it and well, when she is in the bottom of despair, we know what happens to her life so⊠yeah, I prefer her not knowing.
Since it is stated in canon that she killed herself for him, I always assumed that, for her to be in this kind of despair (and also for Yomiel to name his cat after her and be so desperate over her death) that their love started when they were both really young and has lasted for most of their lives. And also that she was already suffering from a previous trauma (like her fatherâs sudden passing) because for a person to think about suicide as their only option, they must be REALLY desperate and with no one to support her⊠You saw what happened.
Yomielâs eyesight has always been bad, thanks to genetic problems and also because he spent too much time studying and in front of computers as a child. He developed myopia and astigmatism and he had to use prescription glasses ever since his childhood.
However, he never liked wearing the regular glasses because other kids in his school would bully him because he looked too much like a nerd. The alternative he found was to wear sunglasses with prescription lenses as way to look âcoolerâ to other kids (also to impress his childhood friend, Sissel). With time, however, he felt much more comfortable wearing the prescription sunglasses instead of regular ones that it became a sort of protection mechanism for him. He doesnât feel comfortable when strangers look him directly in the eye, so the sunglasses sort of âprotectâ him from them. It also helps to conceal his emotions and look more stoic, which he learned to do as he was growing up to protect himself from other people who could potentially hurt him.
So, the main reason he wears his sunglasses all the time is because he doesnât feel comfortable with people he doesnât know looking directly into his eyes and this is a sort of a defense mechanism for him.
Yomielâs strenght of glasses is -7 on both eyes.Â
Another reason for him to wear the sunglasses is because of his sensitive blue eyes. Having blue-eyes plus astigmatism makes his eyes oversensitive to light, so itâs also a way to protect his vision (physically).
He only wears his regular glasses at home, where he feels comfortable wearing them and he only ever lets people he truly trusts to look directly in his eyes.
The sunglasses he always wears were also a gift from his mother, so he is quite fond of it. Just like Sissel wears the red scarf in her motherâs memory, Yomiel wears his sunglasses in his motherâs memory as well.
Here's my one silly headcanon I'm contributing to the Ghost Trick fandom. Yomiel wears prescription sunglasses. I say this partly in jest, partly because no way does this man who worked as a systems engineer, an indoor job, wears sunglasses indoors just to look cool. This man probably does not go outside. His sunglasses are both his literal glasses and used to help with staring at a screen all day.
Prompt: FianSissel: I just want to know more about Sissel the woman, who relied on Yomiel so much in old timeline that she killed herself when he was seemingly gone, but in new timeline found the strength to support him through pretty bleak circumstances for 10 years. Whatâs her support system? Who keeps her afloat when Yomielâs not there to get her through her blackest moments? And does she ever find out the truth about it all? (Female friendship is a big plus here, OK)
Iâd like to present you my FianSissel! Hope you like her as much as I do!
I feel numb
I can't come to life
I feel like I'm frozen in time
Living in a world so cold, wasting away
Living in a shell with no soul, since you've gone away
Living in a world so cold, counting the days
Since you've gone away
You've gone away
From me
World So Cold - Three Days Grace
Another TDG song that fits Yomiel PERFECTLY and I couldn't resist making this drawing based on it. It describes Yomiel's grief perfectly and even scares me how accurate the words in the song are to his situation, since he himself, refers to his own body as a "shell", and how he feels numb because he can't feel and can't come to life.
Just... OOF.
Please reblog my art and help spread my art in the fandom, thank you! â€
I decided to draw FianSissel and Alma bonding and gossiping about their husbands because we need more content of them being besties đ„ș I know you like my FianSissel a lot, which makes me happy! And I want to draw more of her and Alma interacting because I love the idea of them being friends! đ
It was also my first time drawing Alma, so I hope I did well! I guess I'm quite satisfied for a first time!
