it's so fascinating to watch people who ostensibly identify as pro-science, pro-modern medicine types melt down when you suggest that ozempic et. al. might just genuinely be a good thing with no horrible long-term health consequences lurking in the shadows as a gotcha for people who took them to lose weight. kinda lays bare how many folks on both the body-positive, fat-liberation side and the proudly/covertly fatphobic side of the spectrum really internalized that your body is a 1:1 reflection of your politics and moral character and not just a flesh vessel subject to countless factors, both genetic and environmental, affecting its size and appearance.
So today in my anthropology class, a guy said that if we were in a handmaid’s tale type situation where lots of the human race was infertile, we should do artificial insemination instead of rape and I hopped on the mic to tell him that forced pregnancy, no matter where the sperm comes from, is a form of torture and that women’s bodies aren’t public resources and all 150 people on the zoom were like 👀
Then he went “oh so the human race should die out?” And I said yep. If the only way to keep our species going is through forced pregnancy at that point we should just kick the bucket

We flag a kid who tortures animals as potential for psychopathy. We understand there is a correlation between how that child treats animals to how they’ll treat humans. Why is the same not true for all of the human race, all men, all the farming industry? What just because you are so indoctrinated by it that you see it as perfectly normal? Well that’s how men think of women, so if you won’t change your thinking about farmed animals, why can you expect men to about us?
This. The meat industry is full of violence, to the point where violence and crime rate in slaughterhouse neighbourhoods is increasing by 60% on average. Workers in the near industry are getting PTSD, anxiety and various other ailments at an unprecedented rate. They also rape animals they are about to kill. And the majority of those people are men.
