The Martian (2015)
Moviegoers of today are obsessed with movies about space and The Martian gives justifiable reason as to why. From the first sequence to the heart-racing finale, The Martian is a prime example of what makes going to the theatres to watch movies so great and enjoyable. At the climax of the movie, it felt as if everyone in the audience was cheering Watney on along with the mass of people on screen. It’s this unifying experience between moviegoers that makes going to the theatre so much more memorable and worthwhile, and what makes The Martian so great. It’s also a smart, well put together story, owing largely to author Andy Weir’s vast knowledge and masterful storytelling. It’s not a movie that will linger in your mind, but it’s a movie that you need to experience for yourself. The Martian kept me on the edge of my seat throughout its 2 hour run, and I enjoyed every minute of it.
