HELLO. I listened to both of the songs you said and I have a lot to say.
First of all- ILY. I'm very happy that people use the inbox feature and I love when people take the time to tell me things or ask me questions ESPECIALLY if it's about one of my favorite characters.
I'm happy that other people like Donald because I do fully believe he's one of Adam's best written character, which is crazy to say considering the game was just a demo.
ANYWAY. I honestly can't choose a favorite out of the two. I really like the instrumentals of the second one but the first one made me a little emotional. The words of the first one are so beautiful and they really do remind me of him. I think in RWS, Donald has a lot of mood swings. (This is one of the main things I like so much about him). He will go from seemingly normal, go full trauma dumping, to religious aggressive rambling . I think in the first song, how I imagine it anyway, he's talking to himself. The version trying to cope and help himself, is talking to the nasty aspects of himself. "You will never be free" and the voice defending itself with religion. I think the part which got me a little emotional was-
The blood of many wounds soaked my bed
The sweat of many fears soaked my bed"
That part got me. I love that song. Thank you so much for sharing. Especially because of the themes of his trauma, that definitely related very heavy to him.
The second song I absolutely love the instrumentals of. When I started the song I immediately felt chills go down me!!!! I think that beginning section is literally my favorite part of the song. lol. I think that song would be more so of him doubting himself and his own thoughts of himself.
I think that despite his scary persona, he's very scared on the inside. I think he tries to make people uncomfortable (Elora) so he can keep himself safe. I think he ends up getting comfortable, trauma dumping, and then getting aggressive due to realizing how open he got. He uses religion as a shield to make himself think that he's still a good person despite his bad decisions.
Overall, I love him. He is one of my favorite characters not just in wttg, but in all fandom media. I think he is amazing CSA and religious trauma representation and Adam needs to go back to making more characters like him. I am his number one fan and I will die being his number one fan.
I love when I meet other people which enjoy his character instead of just being like "you know he did ______ right?" And ect. His character is very beautiful and well written to me and a person wouldn't be able to understand that without putting themselves in his shoes. Personally, I have already been in his shoes. I am a victim myself so I can understand his character a lot better then other people can. Instead of seeing him for just his horrible doings, I can imagine how he feels. He knows he feels wrong and disgusting, he regrets the things he does and says, but he wants to stay safe so he won't admit that in reality he is scared. I don't disagree with people that don't like him, his themes are very serious. But he's very comforting to me because I understand his inner thoughts on a deeper level. I immediately fell in love the first time I played RWS.
