Hey ho! Welcome to the side blog for my TF fan continuity, Transformers: Echoes!

This account is run by @friedfriedchicken to put all her TFEchoes stuff in one place. This continuity has been an on and off project I've cultivated since middle school and it's near and dear to my heart. The original premise was to write a story where I could tie as many characters and plots as possible back to Shockwave (hence the 'Echoes' name) but this is no longer the case. Currently, TFEchoes has grown far beyond that as its own world with multiple stories running alongside each other and this is where I'll be archiving it.

The story (as of me starting this account) of Transformers: Echoes follows a quartet of amnesia-plagued Autobot rookies who were left drifting in space and their mission to figure out their place in the world. The Autobot force is in hiding while the Decepticon fleet is spread thin across the galaxy, searching for their enemies. Why did the war start and how can it end? Heed the past for the sake of the future.

Introduction: "Kid"

The last member of our starting cast is... this guy! With nearly all of his memories corrupted by his time in hyper-stasis, this poor Autobot couldn't even remember a name to call himself. He didn't know who he was, where he was, or what he was supposed to do but at least he's fortunate enough to have kind bots around to help him. Stuck with the only stasis pod that wasn't up to code, our mystery bot was doomed to have some side effects. Thankfully rust could be cleaned up but corrupted memories? No one knew what to do with that. With no name, alt-mode, or past, the other Autobots trapped in space with this guy took to calling him 'kid'. The nickname would stick and eventually become his genuine name in due time. Whatever Kid's history was became irrelevant when he had a chance to start over in this war, something that rarely happens and he knew he was lucky to have.

And here's our final Transformer! For now, at least! Kid is the captain of our unnamed (because no one likes it enough to give it a name) ship and he's very dedicated to his crew. He's a fusion of two Transformers, one of which is Tasmania Kid from the Beast Wars II anime. I LOVE BWII so I just had to get some rep for it in my fan continuity. I actually made his design for when he gets an alt-mode before making his 'alt-mode-less' design above but timeline-wise, Kid figures out his new alt-mode much later on. Until I get to writing that part, you'll just have to stare at his rusty and cleaned up forms for now lol

Introduction: Glyph

Now we're really getting into amnesia territory! This here is Glyph, the self-proclaimed 'stowaway' and resident tech wizard. She's got a spunky spirit, but she heavily relies on the videos she recorded in her past to stay grounded to the present. Why is there such a vast archive of information on herself that she doesn't remember creating? And who is Cliffjumper? Glyph is a smaller buggy sort of Transformer; built for driving around hallways comfortably and to transport sensitive resources with great care. How this relates to her fuzzy past is anyone's guess. A neat feature Glyph has are a pair of retractable cameras on the sides of her head! She can deploy them to record and project whatever she sees. Despite this convenience, her stock of pre-recorded stuff is hard to gain any meaning out. There's some bots and places Glyph thinks might be important to who she was before she went into hyper stasis but a lot of inbetween information and context is missing.

Glyph :) I've always loved her character but she never really got time to shine in the spotlight until IDW2's Valentine's Day issues. I've been writing this story since before IDW2 launched so I didn't have that to base her off of. Instead, this Glyph is very much inspired by an old fan project that I used to love but I can no longer find any traces of it. Also, her 'kitty ear' cameras were a spin on IDW1's mnemosurgeon talons and drills! I love when Transformers have little bits that they can deploy for work lol

Introduction: Speedbreaker

Coming in second place for who suffers the least amount of post-hyper-stasis-amnesia is Speedbreaker! A competitive adrenaline junkie, this racer wields the team's firepower in battle. Speedbreaker desperately wants to find the rest of the Autobots because he knows there's people waiting for him. If they're still alive, that is. Speedbreaker turns into a racing car, unsurprisingly. The thing that sets him apart from other racers, however, if the fact that his alt-mode can integrate weaponry and mods very easily without needing to surgically attach them. If you've seen the WFC/FoC games, it's pretty much the same thing as the weapon system there! Adding onto that, Speedbreaker has a retractable eyepiece that deploys whenever he's using a mod.

The RiD01 anime was one of the first Transformers shows I've watched and, despite everything, still means a lot to me. I've enjoyed the bratty little brother energy of Side-Burn a whole ton so here's my take on him! I was never really a fan of his English name so for this project he'll be using his Japanese name which feels more relevant to his character. That being said, if you're familiar with the Autobot brothers 👀🙏

Introduction: First Aid

The medic of the core four, First Aid awoke from hyper-stasis with the most of his memories intact. Originally a neutral on Cybertron, he joined the Autobots as a pacifistic healer to stay true to a promise to... someone.

First Aid is the tallest of the team and rightfully so considering he turns into a Cybertronian ambulance. He's lucky the rest of his shipmates are on the shorter side. The crest on this Autobot's head doubles as emergency lights but they're also known to go off when his emotions spike. A gentle giant at heart, First Aid unfortunately has to play the voice of reason among his rowdy crew. My design for First Aid was mostly inspired by his 2014 toy which was a white, blue, and red redeco of TFP Ratchet's deluxe toy. Character-wise I was always drawn to First Aid due to his G1's incarnation being a pacifist. As much as I love him in IDW, there's just not enough pacifistic characters so here's my attempt to remedy that!
