Students of VCU
The goal of our photo narrative was to depict how student’s phones played roles into their daily lives. We chose to juxtapose a portrait of each person with a picture of their phones in an attempt to portray what was most or least important to them. We began by asking them a specific set of questions, and then moving on to an interview based on what they were doing on their phones or simply what they liked most or least about them. We wanted to do something similar to the blog Humans of New York, but we also wanted to relate it to The Circle by using modern technology and our society’s dependence upon it. We chose to use cell phones because virtually everyone student at VCU has one. We decided to juxtapose each student with a picture of their favorite aspect of their phone. We hoped that this juxtaposition would, like Humans of New York, show a glimpse of the Students of VCU.
