no but you know what throws me? the tears in callum's eyes when ben's confronting phil. because yeah, he's proud, he knows all too well how hard ben finds it to stand up for his dad and callum knows what that feels like, to want so desperately to impress someone who's never going to be proud and he knows what the letting go feels like (i.e. cal coming out to his dad). but it's not just that though. cause more than that it's proof to callum of how much ben loves him, that he's standing against his blood to be with callum and it's being chosen that gets callum so much because people don't really choose him but ben does, because ben's different and ben loves him, real and proper
