It surprisingly didn’t take long to clean up the booth as you had the other girls to help compared to in the morning where there was only a select few who came. So you actually got to go to your last period. Saying your quick goodbye to the girls you head off.
It was Chemistry. You sucked at science so you knew this was going to be a rough year all because of this singular class. You were early, before the bell had even rung. “What’s your last name, kid?” The teacher's booming voice asks and your head turns to look at him. He was an older guy, bald with a big beard. “Ro’meave.” You cough.
“Alright, you're next to that Gene kid over there, Saab raise your hand.” He points over with a pencil and your shoulders tense. Slowly peering over with a fuming expression. The boy in question has a big ole grin on his face. “Go sit down and take out your folder for this class.” He orders and you shortly nod. Heading to your shared desk with dragged out steps. “Looks like we got another class together, how exciting?” Gene smirks at you.
You just grumble under your breath as you take out your folder. “I might be able to switch my class so don’t get your hopes up.” You tell him, patiently waiting for the teacher to start class after the bell rings. “Awe, don’t be like that. I’m quite good at science.” He brags and you press your lips together. “That won’t help me when you skip.” You rebuttal.
And before he can respond the teacher starts the class.
It passed by quickly and before you knew it the teacher was already dismissing everyone. You didn’t waste time to exit the room. “Hey, why you running off so fast?” His agitating voice calls from behind you, causing a huff to escape past your lips. “I’m the captain of a team, I have responsibilities. Something you couldn’t relate to.” You say in a snarky tone. It doesn’t phase him though, that smug expression still laced within.
“How about I walk you there?” He offers and you glance at him then laugh. “I don’t know what you’re getting at, Saab. But it’s not happening.” You begin walking once again. Ignoring the steps right behind you.
“Don’t be like that, I just wanna reconnect like old times.” He teases and you raise a brow, peering over at him. “Like old times? We haven’t talked since Freshman year.” You remind him.
“Exactly, now is the best time to catch up.” Gene nudges your elbow with his own. Keeping up with your little speed-walk you have going on. “Hah! In your dreams. You ruined that from ever happening again. See ya later, Shadow Knight.” You roll your eyes, sharply turning into the girls locker room right outside of the gym. Stunting him, he stands for a moment to register.
A smile still lingers upon his lips. He’ll win this bet easily.
Might be a little tough in the beginning though. But he has until prom. That’s plenty of time to make you fall for him.
You shove your stuff down on one of the benches, letting out an annoyed breath. “You okay, girly?” Teony comes up to you, startling you. “Shit- T, be careful doing that!” You place a hand over your heart as she giggles. “Sorry for asking about your well-being.” She says defensively.
“I’m fine, stupid Gene is in two of my classes that I know of so far. I’m already over it.” You exclaim as you change into more gym appropriate clothing. “Ohh, the boy you had a thing for-”
“Ew!! What? I never had a thing for Gene, that is the most disgusting- Teony, no.” You stop yourself from going on a rant as she tries not to laugh. “It was a silly little joke.” She pokes and you just scrunch your face in disgust. “It wasn’t a very funny one, that’s for sure.” You tell her. “I mean you said when you were freshman he was nice to you.” She reminds you and you suck in a deep breath.
“Yeah before his little posse showed up the following year.” You mumble, almost inaudible but she hears it.
You made your way to your car after practice. Sweaty and gross, just wanting to sit down and be home already. The sky above was dark, you could only see the sun far on the horizon. It was warm, looking like a huge oil painting. This was the best part coming out of practice. Something you won’t take for granted this last year at high school.
You lean against the hood of your car. Breathing in the late summer air. Chilly as it’s going into autumn.
You think about what’s to come this year, hopeful to continue the bonds you have. Keeping up your grades and work to pass by swiftly.
The sound of your phone buzzing interrupts your thoughts, snapping you back into reality. Pressing that green button and putting the phone to your ear. “Mom?” You speak, your voice raspy due to the yelling in practice. “Sweetheart, are you going to be home soon? Your practice ended fifteen minutes ago.” She questions you and a smile etches your lips. “Sorry, I’m on my way now. The sky was really pretty today.” You inform her as you climb into your car.
“Did you get any pictures?” She asks, your eyes glance back up to the sky. It’s already dimmed so much already. Pouting you let out a small groan. “No, I got too caught up in it. I’ll get one for you next time.” You say.
“All right, I hear your blinker. Drive safe and get off your phone.” She lectures. “Okay, love you!”
“I love you too, my [Name]!” She hangs up the phone.
Getting home, the lights were already off. It was still and you knew pretty much everyone was going to be in their rooms. You enter the house with a small huff, tossing the keys on the table beside the door. Kicking off your shoes.
“Hi, sweetheart! How was your first day as a senior!?” Your mom asks with a big smile etched on her face and you simply just shrug. “It was alright. Practice made it better. Being in my element and all.” You tell her to which she nods in understandment. “Right, your plate is in the microwave, go take a shower and I’ll get it all warmed up for you.”
“Thank you, I’ll be quick.” You kiss your mom’s cheek in passing before running up the stairs.
The shower was brisk, wanting to eat your food then settle down for the night. After getting dressed, a towel still tied up upon your head you bump into one of your little brothers. “Watch it.” You playfully shove him to which he grunts. “You’re the one who bumped into me.” Garroth rubs his arm that you pushed. “I don’t think so.” You deny even though that was very much true. “You’re freakishly strong for no reason.” He whines, pinching your wrist causing you to let out a small yelp. “Hey, I didn’t pinch though!” You pinch him back.
Turning it into a small brawl of pinching one another. A door slams open, a tired Zane popping out. “Can you two shut up!? Some people are trying to sleep!” He gravels in annoyance, his hair a mess. Showing that he’s been in bed for a while now. “At 8:30?” You ask with a raised eyebrow.
“Yeah, first day was exhausting and I want to go to bed. Is that okay with you?” He rolls his eyes, not actually asking. “Exhausted from what?” Garroth laughs and you press your lips together to stop yourself from doing the same. “Whatever. Just be quiet!” He slams his door and the two of you look at one another before bursting into quiet laughter. “I think I’m gonna go to bed too. Night, sis.” The blonde boy says to you and you give him a small wave. “Night, Gar.” You make your way downstairs to go eat. Your mom leans against the counter giggling whilst on her phone. You go around her to grab your plate of food and a bottle of water from the fridge. Her giggles are getting a little louder. “What’s so funny?” You inquire while stuffing your face with mashed potatoes.
“Oh nothing…” She sighs, placing her phone down on the counter. “I wanted to see your face before I went to bed. I love you, [Name]!” She grabs each side of your face to kiss your cheek as you’re still chewing. “I hove ‘ou too.” You say with a mouth full of food. She grimaces but ignores it, taking her food and walking off. “Don’t stay up too late, sweetheart! Sweet dreams.” She says as she goes up the stairs. You only hum in response.
Now it was just you alone in the kitchen. You glance around before heading to the backyard. Going to your secret stash in your childhood play box. Place your plate of food down on the outside glass table.
This was the only way you could get yourself to sleep now. Smoking a joint to yourself in the chilled night breeze as you ate or just sat there in peace. Heading straight to your room afterwards with the buzz throughout your body. Relaxing your muscles to the point your joints in your legs occasionally twitch.
You leaned back in your chair, lighting up the rolled plant that's gently placed between your lips. Not paying attention to the fact that on the other side of the fence is someone doing the same thing.
Gene who lives behind you, smoking a blunt which is different from a joint. Covered in a nicotine wrap. The inhale is different, less smooth than a joint. He enjoys the slight burn in his throat. Having to cough to get it to go away but it certainly makes the high hit harder.
The boy is just as clueless as you. Not knowing that just on the other side of the fence is his bet smoking on her porch as she eats her dinner. A towel wrapped around her head in the most vulnerable position to be blackmailed.
Lucky you that he doesn’t notice, huh?
That he hasn’t noticed for years.
You stand boredly with your arms crossed, scanning the crowd of people for one of your friends. Using your top lip to play with your septum. “Looking for me?” A voice speaks and immediately your shoulders falter. Glancing up to the boy beside you. His piercing blue eyes staring you down. “You wish.” You rasp, turning away from him.
You were about to head to your first period but you wanted to see Teony first. Unfortunately it doesn’t seem like that’s going to happen. “Awe, c’mon Viper don’t be like that.” He condescendingly speaks to you, you just ignore him. Beginning your walk to the home room.
It’s not a long walk whatsoever. Just an aggravating one with a boy you haven’t spoken to in three years suddenly wanting to be your friend following you. “How was practice yesterday? Still the captain right? Think that’s what that teacher said.” He mutters the last part.
“It was fine, yes I’m still captain.” You enter the room, plopping down in your seat to which he does the same beside you. “Mm, that’s cool. Have any plans this weekend?”
You pause before answering, peering over at him with a scrunched, confused expression. “I work, y’know working for my own money.” You say, crossing your legs. This was a free period and the second day of school so you didn’t have much of a choice but to talk to him. Still you kept the conversation short on your end. Not trusting him.
“Ah, a job.” He shivers at the thought of working. “Where do you work?”
“Nunya, off the street ‘your business.’” You give an insincere smile. He smirks in amusement. “C’mon Viper. ‘S not like I’m gonna show up or anything.” He motions like it was crazy anyone could think that. “Even if I did tell you, you don’t know my schedule.” You shrug your shoulders.
“Right… What’s your schedule?” He quizzes and you shake your head, holding back a chuckle.
The time passed by quickly with him by your side, talking your ear off. Fighting in your head on how this is Gene Saab speaking to you right now. The same boy that did this your freshman year. Talked with you nonstop. Became your friend only for the next year to act like you never existed.
Not even wave at you in the hall, give you a smile of recognition. Nothing. You attempted to talk to him your sophomore year. Going up to him like you did as a little freshman to ask how his summer went. He just looked you up and down. Scoffed and walked away to his new friends. You never understood what happened between you guys.
And now here he is. Acting like that never happened and the two of you are besties. Start off on a new leaf.
Now in your second class you sit next to a boy named Aaron Lycan. He was the silent type. Something you appreciated. “Is it okay if I sit here?” You question and his eyes meet yours. “Sure.” He shrugs his shoulders. He was tense, not because of you but the niceness of your voice. Used to meeting an automatic attitude by people. He was still expecting it to happen. It doesn’t though.
You sit there during class, relaxed beside the boy. Boredly resting your chin upon your palm.
And at the end of the lecture you turn to him. “Aaron, right?” You ask. “Yeah?”
“I’m [Name]. What’s your next period? Maybe we have it together?” You stand from your seat, peering over at him in curiosity. Not even focusing on the scars that littered his face. “Uh, English Comp 4.” He stammers.
“Oh, damn. I got trigonometry. You good at that?” You inquire, both of you walking side by side in the halls now. “A little bit. I took it last year.” He admits and you gasp. “No way! As a Junior?”
“Yeah, my school was a little different than this one.” He sighs. “Wow, gross. Wish me luck, I suck at math.” You breathe out. “Good luck.” He grunts.
“Well, my class is just over there. See ya, Aaron. Nice meeting you!” You wave to him, not even letting him respond as you’re already running off to the room. He’s stunned but keeps pushing to his own.
Later in the day you knew this was the class you had with Katelyn and Lucinda, you were excited but also nervous for what’s to come this school year with this dynamic.
They say they’re best friends, but Lucinda mainly enjoys getting under the blue hair’s skin. You enter the class to already hear the two arguing. “Are you even supposed to be in witchcraft class?” The ginger girl questions. “It’s what my schedule says so like it or not I’m here until I can change it!!” Katelyn shouts back. “Well, you don’t have to yell at me Katelyn!” Lucinda scoffs.
“I’ll yell at you all I want! Gosh I should’ve never given you another chance at being my bff!” Katelyn says, you stand there with your arms cross. Smugly watching this before you. Slightly noticing the shorter girl who comes up next to you. “Hi, Are we the only ones in the class?” You recognize her from the gym. Aphma? You think that’s her name.
“HUh!?” The two girls turn to her. Finally noticing the both of you. “Oh, I’m sorry. I-I didn’t mean to stare at you guys. It’s just you guys were yelling and-”
“Hey, you’re that freshman from yesterday.” Katelyn then whispers something to herself that the rest of you can’t hear. Lucinda and you glance between one another. “Huh? What?” Aphmau asks, confused by what’s going on. Katelyn laughs almost maniacally. “Lucinda this girl here is my new best friend.” She announces.
You just cross your arms trying not to laugh. “What?!” Aphmau looks to you for help but you shake yourself.
“Oh really?” Lucinda raises a brow. “Yeah really!”
“You hit my friend in the face with a volleyball and now you’re trying to-”
Katelyn cuts her off with more loud laughs.
“Oh what an imagination you have. Play along and I’ll owe you big time.” Katelyn whispers to the shorter girl. “Oh really? What’s her name? Your new… friend.”
“Oh! Haha! Her name is-”
“It’s Aphmau!” The girl answers to try and help the blue-haired girl. “That’s right! Aph-g-agacc- what?”
“That doesn’t count she answered it for you.” Lucinda points out to which you hum softly in agreement. “Well that’s one friend for me and how many for you? Hmm?” She asks, purposefully messing with her.
“[Name] is right there, and you knew she’d choose me over you.” Lucinda goes to your side, looping her arm with yours. “Don’t put me in the middle of this.” You grumble but the ginger girl only holds onto your tighter.
“Hey, [Name] is one of my closest friends. You barely even know her!” Katelyn shouts and you sigh. Peeping over to Aphmau who is wide-eyed and lost. Not knowing what to do. “Like you barely even know this freshman?!” Lucinda says.
Katelyn glares at her and you just sigh once again. The two get into a shouting match. One where neither you nor Aphmau can even understand what they’re saying. All of a sudden potions get thrown on them.
Turning around to see the teacher. “Jeez those girls can fight. Sorry about that little ones.” She says, mainly to Aphmau though as you are crouched down petting cat-Lucinda.
Unfortunately for both you and the shorter girl, you get stuck between Lucinda and Katelyn who are still arguing as cats. You turn to the girl apologetically. “It’s not like this all the time with them.” You give a weak smile. “Really?”
“No, it’s like this all the time.” You frown.
You were grateful when the class was over and you were sure that Aphmau was as well. Both rushing to leave to your last classes.
Entering your chemistry class you sit on the stool at the tall table. Gene joins you not even seconds later. “Early, did you rush here or something?” He asks and you look at him through your peripheral. “I walked to class like a normal person.” You say in almost an acquisitive tone as if you were questioning it.
Unlike this morning where you talked with him, giving him the time of day you’re back with your guard up and heavily against wanting to speak with him. Gene seems almost disappointed by the way you’re acting. You don’t notice it. But a slight frown appears on his lips.
You feel the urge to talk to him but for some reason you can’t get yourself to do it. It’s Gene, the leader of the Shadow Knights. A group that blackmails people for fun. Spray paints random areas of the school. A horrible influence that you don’t need to be caught up in your senior year.
The person who was your friend three years ago only to act like you didn’t exist later on. What if he’s just doing this to do it once again. Bring your walls down, become your friend and be a dick.
The bell rings, announcing the end of school. You stand up, collecting your things to leave. “See you tomorrow?” Gene speaks and you glance up at him. “See ya.” You walk out.
After school you have to hurry to make your way to work. Clothes in the back seat in a grocery bag. Speeding down the road to the movie theater. Parking swiftly to climb out and drag the bag of clothes out with you.
Walking quickly to the building. Being a crew leader at the theater was barely stressful, only having to tell people what to do while also doing your own job.
“My favorite Crew Lead!” A voice shouts, earning your attention. You try to hide the grimace from popping up on your face. “Hey, Marlon.” You mutter, moving past him to get to the restroom. “Can’t believe you have to wear a school uniform. I would hate that.” He comments and you just give him a tight lipped smile before entering the room. Luckily getting away from him.
Switching out your clothes you then have to go upstairs to the breakroom that has a bunch of lockers. You were glad that you went out to see Marlon speaking with a customer instead of still being around and having the option to bother you. He was one of the many managers that has a weird complex with being in charge of people.
Most people liked him but there were a few like you who absolutely despised him. Teony and Jeff being the others.
As you’re placing your things in the lockers, someone taps you from behind. Startling you. “What the-”
“Haha! Sorry, [Name]!” It was Jeff, he grins as you have a hand placed on your chest. “Jerk!” You hit him on the bicep. “I’m sorry! I thought it'd be funny.” He defends himself and you roll your eyes. Shutting the locker. “Whatever. What’s your position for today?” You ask, the two of you beginning to walk back downstairs after clocking in. “Usher, you?”
“Same, thank god. Teony is Hot Foods.” You shiver. Everyone hates that position. Being stuck in the heat with the popcorn and fryers. “Poor Teony.” Jeff rubs the back of his nape.
“We’ll visit her when we have time to. Remind her how much we love her.” You dramatically say and he snickers. “How much you love her, you mean?”
Not trying to pressure you, but did you ever finish that Blaze X Reader you were working on?
no 💔💔
i had that idea at the worst time ever because i’m so swamped with work right now. but trust IT IS COMING!!!! estimation is either christmas or february i’m thinking. probably
i think what i’m gonna try to do is writing it little by little over time and then posting it all at once. because i’m planning for multiple parts but it’s definitely gonna be shorter than tpwp so…
but yeah i have a lot of that blaze x reader planned out, i just don’t have a title for it or the time to write it really :(
