He was with you when you got the call.
It had been a relaxing night in up until that moment. You and Niall were lounging together on the couch, his arm slung over your shoulder to keep you close while his opposing hand supported his Guinness. You were watching golf, and although you werenât too much of a fan it was nice to spend the time with him and watch him live something that he enjoyed. You werenât a fan of beer, either, which he teased you about every day. Iâll get through to yeh one oâ these days, love, heâd repeat. He never pushed you, though. He accepted you for who you were and all your differences. You fit together like two perfect puzzle pieces.
It was the sixth hole when your phone started ringing. You picked up the phone and held it to your ear after hitting âacceptâ on the call, not expecting what youâd hear on the other line.
When the words were spoken you remained still and silent for a long time. You didnât know what to say. You felt like you should be doing something: crying, screaming, shaking, screaming, anything. But you couldnât force yourself to do anything except sit and let it sink in.
