Some soft Jason for the soul
darksidebar:
It didn’t look too crowded for Mayu to get nervous in a small space. It was the first time she had ever really taken a train. Actually. This was the first time taking a train that was above ground. This was a new experience for her and something she would have to note to memory. She sat down and cupped her hand under her chin. A sign said ‘No Smoking’ on the wall and Mayu huffed.
“I should have had one before we got on.” She coughed once and crossed her arms over her chest. An old man came onto the train carrying a cello carrier on with him. He wore a cabbie hat, a large coat, and scuffed black shoes. His face wore thin wire frame glasses, a small beard, and he looked no older than his early fifties. He came into the box and settled down nearest to the door. He let out an exasperated sigh and leaned against his case with his eyes closed. Mayu’s eyes went wide and she pursed her lips with the thought of ‘fuck no’.
Cavalu gave her side an elbow. What was her problem with the old man? He sure didn’t recognize them at all.
Moran was busy shoving food directly into his mouth. Finally.
darksidebar:
She pointed at Cav and was about to defend herself, but couldn’t find the words to do so. So she just shut her mouth and went back to just standing there looking befuddled. The whole situation was strange, and the fact that it was a sano dragon only made things more difficult. She rubbed at the space between her nose and nodded.
“Merlin will handle this. He will know what to do about all this. In the meantime, let’s not get shot at.” She made a faux chipper face and went to walk further into the station. “I need a stiff drink when we get back to the bar.”
“You and me both.” Cavalu admitted and he wasn’t one to drink often.
“Me three.” Because why not? Moran liked his alcohol. Not an entirely recovered alcoholic. Just a more tame one.
When the right train rolled up to the station, Moran got in a car that seemed sparsely occupied. Beggars couldn’t be choosers. Found a seat and took the bag of food from Cavalu to get to his boxes. Start eating during the ride.
darksidebar:
“I get all of that. I understand that better than you, probably.” She nudged him before looking at the ticket booth. She bit her lower lip and reached into her back pocket to pull out her wallet. She unzipped the middle compartment and shifted through to see what bills she had from other countries. Being resourceful was a sure fire way in getting around in this world.
She pulled out a fistful and handed that to Moran. “Should be enough for the three of us.” She looked back at Cav and noticed he was out of his comfort zone. She figured comforting him wouldn’t be right at the moment so she just flashed him a smile.
The dragon finished up three pieces of chicken and then licked his chops clean. It flapped once or twice. He was a happy dragon. So happy in fact, that it’s scales started to glow blue and caused a warming sensation that only Cav would feel. The same healing and calm that a sano crystal would give.
Moran got the message about the kids while taking the notes. Assembling enough of them together to put in the machine. Taking another look at her phone for their destination before punching the button for the right town endpoint. Got three tickets and passed them around.
Cavalu barely got his in his pocket before he got a real good energy reading off the dragon. He lost a little bit of color. Looking at the dragon then at Mayu. “Uhhhhh, I think I know why they want this particular dragon so damn bad.”
The kids situation was weird. Not exactly a conversation she was willing to have.
Mayu looked back after that and noticed the dragon was glowing blue. Her eyes got big and she took in a deep breath. “Holy shit. That’s a Solarian dragon.” She had to think that through and she put her hand over her head.
“That shouldn’t exist. No fucking wonder those bastards want this thing.” She then threw up her hands. “Who the fuck sent me this?”
That was right over Moran’s head, but he wasn’t here to know things as much as kill them. He’d leave them to make sense of all that while standing by the right station. Be another five minutes or so before their train would roll on up.
“Don’t look at me! You’re the one will all the fucked up friends!” Cavalu said back loudly. “I would ask who wants to kill you, but that’s a lot of people!”

She knew about Moran’s dealings more than most. He was the type that knew to call her on her bullshit. She spent many a long nights explaining her dealings with him. So a part of her was happy that he kept quiet about it in front of Cav, and didn’t open up any boxes that didn’t need to be presented. She respected that from him. She followed behind him with her hands in the pockets of her coat and absently running through any scenarios in her head. The dragon perked up and screeched happily started pecking and gnawing at the chicken. More than pleased as punch to be eating even though he just ate a couple hours ago. Anxious eater, maybe. “I haven’t seen you for a few months.” Mayu mentioned to Moran to start conversation. “I’m guessing things haven’t changed much.”
Cavalu kept his attention on keeping the dragon from making a mess all over his shoulder and also keeping up with the two in front of him. Letting them have their social time. He wasn’t much for small talk and rather listen anyway. He was a little frazzled with just being outside and running around so much today.’
“Eh? Nah, not much. I work, sleep, eat, ‘n’ fuck. Real simple.” Still shameless. “Haven’ heard much from tha kids. Have you?” Had them on a train station before long and in front of an automated ticket box. Looking over the destinations. Rummaging through his pockets for his wallet. Doubted Mayu had British notes on her.
darksidebar:
“Gun party is officially over, sir.” She gave a mock salute with a snicker she tried to hold back. At the rest of what he said, she put a hand over her mouth and looked around. She had a rough idea of where his cabin was because she went to visit a lot. Hell, she crashed on his couch quite often. She even borrowed a few books to learn enchanting, among other things. What? She’s been busy the last few months. “I know the way. We’ll just have to catch a train to the countryside, find the forest, and we’ll be there soon. Give or take it’ll be half a day before we get there.” She touched her face to feel if there was anymore blood, and to her surprise it was fine. “Those weren’t just poachers, Moran. Those were Mercs. Why the hell would they go to so much trouble for a dragon? I get they’re rare these days, but this is ridiculous.”
Moran groaned at the mention of a train ride. He traveled enough to not be enthused about planes, trains, buses, and cars.
Cavalu scratched the back of his neck. Minding the dragon there. “Okay, that’s what we do, then. Should stick to a ride with a lot of peak times.” To keep them in the public eye. Though…he hated to put that many people at risk…
“If th’ breed is rare e’en ‘moung dragons then…yeah, I would send a lotta men wit’ guns. ‘Sepcially when stolen.” Moran shifted accents again.
“That is still not enough of a reason to blow apart a shop for a dragon. Sorry, my brain just can’t wrap around the idea.” It could. She would have done the same thing if she were ordered to by the Knights. She would have completed the mission and left no one there to witness. It was just easier to feign ignorance than to accept that she would have slaughtered in a more efficient manner. She started walking in the direction of the train station. Knew the area decently enough from also visiting Hellsing for obvious reasons. Once upon time she worked with them to go against Cain. They failed, but it was still a mutual meeting between minds to defeat a common enemy. She walked along till she caught the view of a sign. She grabbed her phone and looked up the GPS real quick. Alright. She was still fuzzy on where she was. Give her a break. The dragon popped out from the collar of the shirt and sniffed at the air. Then it sniffed at the food and screeched at Cav to see if he could get something to eat.
Cavalu broke open a box of fried chicken to hold up where the dragon could eat out of it while they were walking.
Moran peered over Mayu’s shoulder at her phone and nudged her the right way. He was a London native, after all. Even if he did travel a lot. “I’ve blown up a house for less.” He wasn’t shy about it.

darksidebar:
She let out a breath of fresh air. She was happy that most if not everyone got in the back safely. After a moment to catch her breath and let her heart stop beating so fast, she looked over at Moran and kissed him on the side of the cheek before heading back. She took one moment to look around before she nodded and went for the gate. There was no need for more words to be exchanged. Things went a hell of lot smoother. Murder, chess, what have you, she finished the job. Thanks to Moran, it went a lot better. She grabbed a napkin along the way and wiped the side of her face that was starting to feel like dried blood. She exited through the other side of the gate and looked around. “Cav?”
Moran laughed a short half-note of a laugh and went along after her again. Holstering weapon. Shouting to Mike that the place was clear enough to start calling police or whoever.
Cav was on the other side of that Gate. Cutting the connection when Mayu and Moran joined him. “Done with the gun party? I don’t know London to well. Don’t really know where Merlin’s cabin is, either.”
darksidebar:
The other one ducked behind some cover and went to reload his gun.
Mayu put away the P90 to conserve some bullets, and to cause less damage to what remained to the restaurant. She took the combat knife from the holster on her leg and ducked down at a fast run. She jumped over a table and came up above the merc. She came down quickly with the knife planted right in the jugular. He actively tried with shaking hand to fire at Mayu, but she let go of the knife and grabbed each side of his head to snap it to the side. She breathed heavily with dead eyes and pulled the knife out of his throat. She wiped it on his armor and stuck it back in the holster. Small blood splatters on the side of her face as she ran a hand through her now messy hair. “Where’s the owner?” She asked Moran. “Did you see him?”
“Aw, that’s no way to kill a guy. It’s murder, not a chess game.” Moran said to Mayu while easing over to her position once that matter was covered. Keeping an eye out on the street for follow up.
Shouted over his shoulder in Mandarin at her request about Mike. Got a response from back in the kitchen. Smirked about the reply and relayed back to Mayu.
“Owner’s fine. He’s got civvies in the kitchen with him--the ones he could get safe back there anyway.”
darksidebar:
She didn’t care if her mother was on speed dial. All she cared about was saving the life of the owner. They helped out this much and she wasn’t going to repay with running the other way. Even if Devang could make it there, there’s not enough time for a phone call in this situation. There would be more hell to pay if they took the alternate route. Mayu ran out with a quickness and darted out to the open lobby. She ducked and covered behind a wall. The third eye was activated and she looked through the wall. The aura shadows on the other side pointed to human traits so far. She extended the P90 and fired off three shots. Leg, heart, and head. He fell pretty quickly. She ducked and ran further inside. Four more people dressed in combat gear stood alarmed, but Mayu put on the full auto and unleashed a barrage of bullets behind a chair. The one fell back, but the other two opened fire in her direction. Mayu made sure she was the decoy while Moran could possibly finish off the last bit.
Moran didn’t get an answer. He asked enough questions. Didn’t have any more to ask once she was moving.
He tailed after her a little behind and across from her in the lobby. From cover to cover without firing until the remaining shooters were focused on her. Then he fired over the counter he’d gotten behind. He couldn’t shoot through chest or skull armor.
But he could sure hit a couple throats in double tap while they were standing still like that.
darksidebar:
“The only one I know of is Alucard. I’m not exactly thrilled at the idea of inviting him along when there’s nothing in it for him. So we might have to cross that out for now.” She looked back at Moran and rolled her eyes at him. She missed that smile, missed how tall he was, and missed the way he moved. Shit. She shook her head of that and cleared her throat as she looked back at Cav. “I think it would be safer to wait in here. I’ll go through my contacts and see if I can find anyone to meet us at the gate in London. I doubt they’ll follow us, but with Devang Luck on our side who the fuck knows, right?”
“He’s not very patient without dragging Sir Hellsing around. You know she won’t bite without a clear objective that involves a hit on a supernatural.” Moran agreed. He wasn’t super keen to work with Alucard, either. Especially being a werewolf himself these days.
“Who the fuck knows.” Cavalu took the bag and went to the Gate. Sure Mayu could walk and talk and he did order food. Didn’t want it to get cold. Mike didn’t pay much mind to them passing through the kitchens to the back of a walk in freezer. Cavalu had the Gate booted with the London code quickly enough. Walking through and out into an alleyway.
“I don’t want to cause any other bullshit. With Alucard along there wouldn’t be much of an issue in the ‘bang bang’ department. We’d probably just sit on the sidelines and do nothing. Though, Sir Hellsing won’t just hand him over for nothing. So we’ll just move on from there. I’ll contact someone else real quick and figure it out.” She took out her phone as she followed Cav and Moran. Mayu flinched and looked back. The sound of a shattered window sounded throughout the restaurant. Footsteps crunching against broken glass flooded the area as they charged inside. There were gunshots firing off, and Mayu grabbed for her P90 from her coat and looked at the gate. Cav had already went through, but she assumed Moran was still there. “I gotta help the owner.” She said to Moran.
Cav got out of the way of the range of fire that could make it through the gateway, but kept it open for the time being.
Moran lightly tossed the bag of food through to Cav who caught it from his cover. Then Moran was drawing pistol and coming up next to Mayu. “How do you know the owner doesn’t have your mom on speed dial?”
Though he didn’t plan to leave without Mayu.

Mayu gave Moran a ‘fuck you’ look. Her eyes narrowed and her arms crossed over her chest. Look, she didn’t know that much about this place. This was the first time she even heard this information. The only gates she used was the one at her home, guardian knights (when she was enlisted), and the one in the mansion in Millennium City. She nudged him with her hip again and shook her head. “The guy that was following us went past the shop. Figured he’s working for those poachers. Once we get through the gate we’ll be in safer territory, but I’m not sure for how long.” She brought a hand to her mouth and thought something through real quick. “Who else do we know lives in London that could help us escort the dragon? May as well make this a magical party.”
Look, he will take her up on that threat, there. Smirked to that effect right back at her like the cat eating the canary.
”Uh...” Cavalu shrugged? “I don’t know anyone. Do you?”
Moran went over to Mike to accept the to-go bags and pay for the food. But he didn’t know where the Gate was, so he waited for them. Despite a grumbling stomach.
