Found some absolute gems while trash picking today including a bag of like 15 pairs of dickies work pants. And inevitably I made the mistake of going back to the house when people were home. I very quickly turned back around and took the pants to the laundromat. Better than using the house machine for road side pick ups. But still... at least I didn't treat myself to the thrift store today. Idk if I'm gonna have enough money to get them fully dry
I ended up with so much good food from the pantry today and now, because of where and who I live with, I have to build up enough courage and hope I can find enough space in all the trash. Not to mention prepare myself for any possible comments. the communist mvmt in the imperial core is not powerful. it is just barely emerging from a generation-spanning period of confusion and defeat, at a pace that is totally insufficient for the world crisis at hand. but for revolutionaries, what this situation demands is not a search for other protagonists of history. it demands a sober and clear assessment of the enormity of the task of bringing revolutionary masses forward into struggle in our own contexts. the masses alone make history, and it is not possible to build a mass movement in the imperialist nations by tailing the geopolitical foes of that imperialism. the working classes of the imperialist powers must face imperialism on our own revolutionary terms. revolutionary defeatism is good but it isn't a program on its own. yes we need to study russia and study china and study iran but most importantly we need to study the revolutionary periods of their history and the early years of movement-building in the lead-up to the revolutionary periods from a clear-eyed historical viewpoint, while always staying open to remoulding our ideology to advance socialist revolution today. to say that communists must view this or that other state as the present historical vanguard for opposing the imperialism of their own state is an anti-masses viewpoint, it demands of the communists that they give up their revolutionary faith in the masses of the people with whom they live and work every day, and it encourages existing individualistic and moralistic petit-bourgeois tendencies within the "anti-imperialist left" that disavow the masses
