Hiya! So I'm learning asl and I noticed that you actually take written notes on it, i was just wondering how you break things up or organize it because i've just been making videos of myself but that can be really time consuming. (sorry if this is a weird question)
Hi !! Definitely not a weird question ! 😊 So what I do is I watch videos on Youtube by Bill Vicars, he has a ton of videos teaching ASL. I watch his videos that are called “lesson one”, “lesson two”, etc so that I can follow along in order 😊 I linked one of his lesson one videos below ! In his videos, he will go through different vocab words in the beginning of the lesson, and those words will be on a screen between himself and the student he is working with.
What I do is that I write down each of the vocab words in each lesson as well as the practice phrases he does. Each lesson will be a different page in my notes so that I can go back to the video and practice the signs ! Then once I’ve practiced enough, I can look at my notes without the video and try to remember each sign 😊 I usually make flash cards for each lesson too😊
Hope that helps!!
Time to start the new semester (I’m a week behind). Kicking it off with some Criminal Law studies. Who else has just started classes again? :)

Hi! I’m sorry if this is an annoying question but I’m kinda stuck here. I want to learn ASL but I don’t know what to use to learn it. Do u have any free recommendations?
Hi there !! 👋🏻 Not annoying at all 😊 My go-to for learning ASL is both Youtube and an app called Memrise ! On Youtube, Bill Vicars has a channel where he has tons and tons of videos teaching ASL !! They are especially helpful because each video spends time on a different topic. He’ll go through vocab as well as working on sentences and structure and proper form ! I’ll link one of his first lessons below 😊 Also, Bill Vicar’s video called “100 Basic Signs” is a great starting video !!
I would probably suggest starting with the app called Memrise just to learn some common signs before diving right in to Bill’s videos on Youtube. Just because he will sign to explain what he means by certain things so it may be helpful to learn some basic signs so you don’t get overwhelmed 😊
Memrise is awesome because it is a free language learning app where you can learn tons of different languages but especially sign language ! It uses GIFs and photos to show each sign and really helps them stick in your head, it is a great reference to be able to go back to😊
Let me know if you have anymore questions, I’m here to help💕

Hope you’re all doing well 😊 Just thought I’d pop in with a new post showcasing some of my cross stitch projects and posts from my cross stitch account if anyone is interested 🧵🧶
I’m so excited to have some more time to explore my other hobbies that I love so much, such as cross stitching and crochet ! I’ll be so thankful if anyone comes and checks it out😊😊

I love reading way too much
trying to focus long enough to write out a little checklist for writing after work was the most hilarious thing I've done this week
Forget pulling all-nighters and chugging coffee until it’s practically coursing through your veins. You know what gets me hyped up? Earl Grey tea on slow sunny mornings after a good night’s sleep. Submitting an assignment early, knowing you’ve completed it to the best of your ability. Reading for pleasure. That feeling of limbless relaxation after a good workout. Unearthing all your buried interests and falling in love with them over and over again.
Repeat after me: success is not suffering. Success is nOT-
