“No, no, it wasn’t that, sorry. Is just…lately, I’ve been a bit…jumpy” She said, looking at him “Don’t mind me”
“S-ome-some-th-thing ha-appen? Ca-an pro-o-tect”
“Who is there?” She asked, this was in the middle of the night and the girl heard a noise, since the last time she saw Jonathan, the girl was trying to be very cautious about everything.
“so-orry. di-id sc-are?” he asked, apologizing for seeming to have surprised the other.
pnukrock:
though with a small hesitant step, jonathan followed. both the path the stranger led and his directions to stay put as he disappeared behind an unidentified door. though he could have asked a few of the brewing questions in the back of his head when wallace returned, they were shut down at the appearance of a pale dart held up between the boy’s fingers. “… well shit.” a smile folded upward on his cheeks as he took it. “thank you. i don’t really know how to repay this gesture.”
as the other smiled the one on wallace’s face widened even further. “d-on’t ha-ave re-p-ay”
pnukrock:
jonathan couldn’t say truthfully that he wasn’t a little intrigued. squinting his brow into a furrow, he moved his step slightly towards the stranger if only to get a bit of a better look. “where?”
“co-co-ome o-on” he reached to take his wrist giving it a tug to follow along. they walked til they came to an animal shelter, the one he worked in. “d-on’t go” he made a stay there gesture with his hand, disappearing for a moment inside before returning and holding out a cigarette for him
ofmagnusbane:
“Of course.” Magnus nodded, gesturing for the boy to continue. It was always nice to see somebody so passionate and excited about things, it was one thing that Magnus missed about his youth.
At the go ahead he continued to dig through the bag, pulling out random playing cards, some plastic bracelets, an old wallet with some old ticket stubs and business cards in it, as well as a few other random items.
pnukrock:
jonathan’s jaw clenched a little as he was briefly questioned, knowing immediately that his craving wouldn’t be satiated any time soon. but that was okay. “okay? yeah. it’s okay. no big deal.” he’d bum one down the street. “thanks anyway.”
He bit his lip a moment, before another look of realization came to him “kn-ow wh-ere ca-an fi-ind sm-oke thi-ings”
defeated or unfazed? the question of the hour. jonathan had frantically searched and then mindlessly explored, dragging his feet on pavement and puddles until they finally stood still. it had been an hour or more of walking, and still the daylight was headed nowhere. perhaps the pursuit of clarity was hopeless here as well. whether or not that was true, his legs were tired, the faces around him weren’t ones he knew and there was nothing to lose from testing his luck. “could i get a smoke?” he asked the first person he saw, fists in his pockets as he subtly felt around. “i have like… quarters or,” his thumb twitched on another shape, “dimes, if you want.” he didn’t know what the protocol was here, but he hoped it wouldn’t cost him a bill.
“sm-oke?” he tilted his head a little watching the other’s movements and talking about quarters and dimes. it took him a moment before he realized what he was referring to. “oh oh sm-oke. do-on’t ha-ave sm-oke” he stared at him curiously a moment more “are o-k-kay?”
southsidescrpent:
“That’s exactly what I said”
“wh-ere sh-ould be?”
“New York is really the last place I would’ve imagine to be in”
“sh-ouldn’t be h-ere?”
diffbevmarsh:
She pressed her lips together, giving a short nod. “So, did the same happen to you?”She questioned.
“y-es. d-on’t kn-ow h-ow th-ough”
diffbevmarsh:
The stutter she hadn’t been expecting but it reminded her so much of an old friend that she couldn’t help but smile to herself. “I mean – I don’t belong in this time? I also just woke up here…Which helps nothing.”
“Oh” she was a new person, another one, they seemed to come more often now than they had before. “H-a-appens. J-ust w-ake u-up o-on oth-other ea-earth”
This is definately not where she went to sleep last night. She was off at college with a boyfriend who damn near broke her nose and now – she was somewhere else, the technology was completely different. Going over she picked up a news paper and her eyes went wide. How could this be? Moving into a small cafe she sat down, her hands carding through her hair before turning to the person next to her. “I’m sorry – has anything *strange* been happening here?”Was IT back and messing with them? Why did she suddenly remmeber IT? What was this place.
“Str-ange?” he wasn’t sure what she meant by the word exactly. He, himself, had been called strange before, but that wasn’t the kind of strange she was asking about...probably. “H-ow - h-ow d-o y-ou m-ean str-ange?”
forevergodfrey:
“Great, maybe we should go unpack first then you can show me,” he stated, grabbing his bags before motioning with his head for the other to follow. “Mind getting the door?” His voice came out a bit muffled with his cigarette in his mouth. For now he still felt like the dirty rich kid, despite being in a new place where he wasn’t really known. Though he was trying to give off a better first impression at least.
He blinked for a moment before he caught on to what the other male wanted, and reached for the door. “C-alled W-allace” he followed him inside the apartment, giving his name, usually he would hold out a hand with an eager smile on his face, but seeing as the other’s hands were full the sound of excitement at meeting, yet, another person would have to do.
“I’ve never moved a day in my life, so doing so now, feels awfully new to me. However the change is rather nice,” Roman mused, lighting up a cigarette before pocketing the lighter. Removing the item from his lips as he smiled as friendly as he possibly could, “So, care to share with me a tour of the place? Maybe help me unpack?”
:y-es, ca-an sh-ow” he nodded, returning the smile to the other. Unpacking wasn’t something he’d had to do when he had wound up in this other world for the first time, and even the times after everything had just sort of appeared. However, he had helped unpack things at the animal shelter. He was sure he could handle it now too.
fiona-18104:
“Well, you know the letters are read left to right, right?” Fiona asked. “And each letter represents a sound. You combine them to make words.” Fiona wasn’t trained in teaching, but she thought she knew enough to help the guy. “Some letter combinations make different sounds. Why don’t you show me what you’re trying to read?”
He nodded his head at the question of the way the letter were read. When she asked him to show her what he was trying to read, he pulled the paper closer. It was a flyer he’d found at the coffee shop he liked to get tea from. An advertisement for one of their open mic nights.
