found out they were a child of thor after their older brother vidar was struck by lightning & survived
after that, they had an unhealthy obsession with norse mythology that led her to join a radicalist group of people who were trying to find relics of the berserkers, a ‘mythological’ army that odin gave abilities to. malin wasn’t as interested in the berserker abilities as the rest of the group and mostly stayed with the group because she was madly in love with one of the members.
when she was 17, malin and the group found a remnant of a berserker weapon but were soon thwarted by shield agents who were tracking the groups movement. as soon as the leader of their group picked up the fragment, it caused them to go insane with rage, killing an agent and one of their own when they tried to stop them.
malin ran away and just escaped shield. scared that she was wanted for being a part of the berserker group that had caused those two deaths, malin fled her life in england and left her family behind. with some not so legal connections, she got a hold of a new passport and a visa to america.
she turned 18 in a women & children homeless shelter in nyc and started going by astrid harbinger. she got a job as a bartender at a strip club, known as the karma klub but wasn’t getting enough money because she wanted to go to nursing school. after five months of bartending, she started dancing and finally was breaking even. she moved in with another dancer and started to go to nursing school.
she danced throughout her entire schooling to pay for her loan and then quit once she got the letter in the mail that she got a nursing job.
she wanted to be a hero like her dad, be a hope, be a god that people can approach but shes still afraid of her identity being revealed.
astrid jumps to help every wounded or helpless person she sees, partly because she’s feels this overwhelming guilt still and thinks if she helps everyone that her guilt will finally go away. she can and will mother the shit out of you if you let her. she will straight up make you soup and tuck you in.
