I think that the lack of aromantic spaces that aren't also asexual is a function of both amatonormativity and purity culture.

So aroallo people struggle to proudly exist because we're labeled "shallow" or "unavailable" when we don't fit into the lines drawn for us, without us.

We're just as real and just as normal as anyone else, but the constant shame surrounding sex pushes us to label ourselves wrong.

I cannot be the only person who labelled myself aroace despite knowing it wasn't true because I was scared of what others may think of me, even in my own communities.

Well that's bullshit. I'm not going to live in the closet because of others' ignorance. I want to be loud and honest and maybe if I'm lucky, I can help someone else feel just a little bit less alone.

You don't have to be afraid of who you are. Who you are is cool as fuck.

"gender norms are social constructs do whatever you want forever" isn't enough we need to be saying "Black women are assumed to be deviating from gender norms just by existing even when they are purposefully expressing femininity bc western gender structures are built upon whiteness" like you've got to start by dismantling the racism & white supremacy inherent in these structures or you will leave racialized women behind

like i know you want to "combat purity culture" but real talk, addiction ruins lives. it TAKES lives. addiction changes the lives of the addict and everyone who loves them in a horrible way. and the fact that most trans spaces for adults center around substance use (especially alcohol and nicotine) probably contributes heavily to the rate of addiction among trans people. trans adults who are ex addicts deserve to partake in spaces for trans adults that dont center around substance use and trigger them, and trans adults who are active addicts who want to get clean deserve spaces where they can go that arent centered around substance use and make them keep using. trans addicts and ex addicts deserve to be in trans spaces too and calling us "steven universe gays" for wanting and needing spaces for people like us that dont center around substance use is all sorts of fucked up. if you want to be in spaces for trans adults that DO center around substance use, thats perfectly fine, but dont dog on us for not wanting that
