This happens to be a very candidate moment where Mercedes is singing one of my very favorite Christmas songs while I standoff to the side of the stage, I believe she was about 13-14 weeks pregnant with Sanaa and Simba. All I remember is how full I felt in the moment. I will never have to explain to any of you how much I don’t deserve Mercedes, you all tell me that enough. But truly, she’s too perfect a human being to put into words. Mercedes song this very song to me 12 years ago when we were in high school it is crazy to think that I have had the privilege of loving on the same woman since I was just a kid. We have been through enough for two life times though I am grateful that I suffered through those with the woman that I have. Today we celebrate 5 years of marriage though our souls have been fused for much longer. We have gone through so much shit sometimes it takes days to put them all into words, but we came out on top each time. Sticking by each other’s sides and leaning on each other when times got rough is the reason why we stand strong and tough, as we do now. All I want today and for the rest of my life Mercedes Marie Evans, is you. I love you babe, we have the rest of our lives to get it right. And I still owe you that picture perfect wedding.

37 more to go! This has been a blast so far. I can not believe I didn’t do this sooner but you know what, it happened at the perfect time now and I couldn’t be happier about how it’s turned out!
The kids are getting to travel and experience the world and Sydney is on stage doing the damn thing!

SUMMARY: Mercedes and Samuel run into Miranda at the Oscars.
Miranda walked down the extended hallway, her long gown in her hand as she chuckled a bit with the men escorting her. So oblivious and naive to the couple heading in her direction, crossing paths during an engagement neither really realized they were attending together at the same time. Up until this point Miranda had made it through and around Hollywood without running into Samuel and Mercedes. But today all of that was about to change.
Samuel held his wife’s hand, fingers laced as Michelle walked along with them down a narrow hallway. They had to present the next award together and Mercedes had managed to pick a gown that needed her and him and Michelle’s hands to carry. He chuckled a little to himself. She looked like a princess, but damn was this dress killing them. He looked her over and he pecked her forehead gently “you look gorgeous babe” he reminded her even though he’d said it to her before. He heard some people ahead and he looked up seeing Miranda and he froze, halting his step. Oh shit.
Mercedes moved down the hallway with the help of her husband and Michelle. “Thank you, baby,” she said lovingly as they proceeded down the hallway. Looking ahead, Mercedes stopped dead in her tracks at the sight of the root of all of her problems. Miranda Blake. She looked at Samuel, then at Michelle, who was sending her a pleading look. Mercedes rolled her neck slightly, in that moment, trying to decide what she was going to do.
Miranda stood there looking at Samuel, a man whom she once loved and his wife who didn’t deserve him. No one said anything at all to each other and she gazed at Samuel, dropping her gown from her hand, her clutch in the other.
Samuel had a stare off with Miranda, he had tried so many times to make this right for everyone and all of it went unnoticed by the entire party as a whole. However, in this moment he didn’t know what to do, he was planning on taking her for everything she had in just a few days and yet here in front of her all that anger he had only melted away easily. He pitied her instead. She was pathetic, and useless and he knew that now as he gazed at her. “They are expecting us on stage” he said as he moved with Mercedes around the girl essentially, trying to avoid a blow out if possible, at this point. Miranda broke him that day, the lie she told, if it didn’t hurt Mercedes it really hurt him, and he showed the world a side of himself he never did. And that was how much hate lived in his heart, for him and him only.
Mercedes heard her husband, but she didn’t. Her mind was too preoccupied as she watched Miranda continue to move past them. Before she knew it, she had reached out and grabbed the girl’s arm, stopping her from walking any further. “You know,” Mercedes began. “Now that you’re right in front of me,” she said sucking her teeth slightly, “when I can actually punch you out and go about my business,” she said her grip on the girl’s arm tightening slightly. “I don’t even want to,” she said honestly. “You’re pathetic and not worth it,” she said licking her painted lips, “but know this,” she said as she tilted her head slightly, leaning in a bit. “You’re still not safe,” she whispered to the girl before she let go of her arm.
Samuel looked to his wife as she moved in for Miranda and he said “Mercedes” gently not wanting her to engage with the woman. As the two went back and forth he smacked his teeth knowingly, he wrapped his arm around his wife and genuinely said “she’s not worth it baby” to her. “They need us on stage, come on” he said easily trying to get her to move in his direction as other’s bodies moved in for them. “It’s okay, you know those are lies she is telling you” he said softly.
Miranda looked to Mercedes as she prepared to walk away as Samuel were. When Mercedes stopped her and grabbed her arm, she looked at the woman tugging from her slightly only for the woman to grip onto her even more. “Get your filthy fucking hands off my bitch” she sneered to her in their close proximity. “The person that you need to fight and release all you anger out on, is right there” Miranda said pointing to Samuel. “I don’t care how you feel or what you think. At the end of the day, your husband came onto me. Your husband fucked me” she said to her. “And your husband wants me!” she added as she prepared to walk away from her. Holding up her dress and moving as producers and guards assisted with trying to break the group up quietly.
Mercedes grunted at the woman’s words and she placed her hand on Samuel's arm as he held her, wrapped up. Licking her lips slowly she nodded at her husband, turning in his arms she kissed him, her tongue sliding into his mouth for Miranda to see. She sucked on his lips and groaned softly before she pulled away and looked back at Miranda with a smirk. “Funny, he tastes like me,” she said before she pulled Samuels hands from around her body and continued down the hallway.
Samuel looked to his wife as she obliged and moved towards him, gratefully he let out a breath he didn’t know he was holding on to. “Thank you” he said quietly before she crashed her lips into his and he moaned softly at the deed, even when he wasn’t necessarily trying to. As she sucked her lip into her mouth he groaned softly before she released him. “Okay” Samuel sung out as he tugged her towards their designated area. He dropped her dress finally as he wrapped her up in his arms “God I love you” he told her seriously he rubbed his lips clean of her lipstick, and he pecked her forehead tenderly. He was so proud of her, he smiled down at her as he grabbed her hand again “I am proud of you” he told her as he reached up to fix a curl against her face.
Mercedes looked to her husband as they stood just behind the stage now. She smiled at him, gently wiping his lips clean properly because all he had done was smear it. “I love you too,” she said sweetly as she hugged him close. Taking his hand into her own, she looked out to the stage and said, “I am trying to make better decisions and I’ve really been listening to you,” she said thoughtfully. “What I do affects not just me but you too,” she hummed out before the stagehands rushed over, forcing them into the stage to present the award.
At her words he smirked at her again and he nodded “that’s my girl” he said sweetly to her as they rushed them onto the stage, handing Samuel the envelope as they did. Samuel walked along with his wife as they moved towards their mark on stage in front of the microphone. He smiled confidently as he waited for the claps and praises to cease. He tapped the palm of his hand with the envelope as he looked over to his wife again lovingly admiring her. “My wife, the lovely Mercedes Evans, and I are here to present the award for best-..”
I’d go to hell and back just to see her smile. And I put that on everything.
