I was born in Clermont-Ferrand, France on June 19, 1623, and died in Paris on Aug. 19, 1662.
In 1631, my father moved us to Paris so I could pursue an education by him.
Taught by my father, I was considered a child prodigy.
At the age of 16, I wrote an essay entirely about conic sections.
At the age of 18, I built my very own mechanical calculator.
I was affiliated with Jansenism, a branch of Catholicism that believes all humans are born sinful.
My father passed away in 1651.
Later on in life, I teamed up with Pierre de Fermat to create the probability theory.
I have a triangle named after me, in which the top two numbers always adds up to the number beneath them.
I had two sisters, named Gilberte and Jacqueline respectively.
Due to a lifetime of insomnia and overall a weak immune system, my body began to deteriorate, starting right after my teen years.
One of the saddest events in my life was when my sister, Jacqueline, left me to join a convent. I was proud of her bold, religious decision, but saddened because there would be no one left to take care of me.
Being physically worn out, I died from tuberculosis in 1662, shortly after my 39t birthday.
