First book finished of 2022 🥳

The Loving Husband promises to be 'mesmerising' and 'terrifyingly good' but I can't help but feel disappointed. While the book follows the world falling in around the main character Fran Hall as she finds out her marriage had been a lie, nothing about Fran Hall has you feeling anything towards her.

The storyline was good, but not well told. The writing was choppy, and I found myself confused at parts, not sure if she was having a flashback or not.

The only two characters who seemed to be actual people who I found myself enjoying was Frans friends, Karen and Jo. I enjoyed these characters as they didn't seem the type to take life lying down, whereas I found myself wanting to bang my jead against the wall with Fran because of how clueless she was, and also because she never seemed to question anything, content in her rose tinted bubble.

I found some parts inconsistant, at one point Fran is watching the smoke from Jos cigarette and then in the next sentence, Jo is looking for the packet and lighting up again. As a nursery nurse, her children seemed to.be a work of fiction. Well behaved at all times after losing their father. I feel if this book was written by another author, I would have enjoyed it a lot more.

Overall ⭐ out of 5.

Book #18 of 2021

So to round of 2021 I went for something easy. James Patterson is such a good author for a 'light read' as the chapters are small, and the story lines are easy to follow, making his books great for picking up inbetween house work.

9th Judgement follows Lindsay Boxer as she attempts to solve three major crimes. The three culprits are cleverly intertwined, but still so easy to follow and of course Lindsay and the team get to the bittom of the, jewel thief, the serial killer and finds out who killed a film stars wife.

Without any spoilers, it was such a good book that made me stay up far too late as I couldn't put it down.

On the other hand, I was slightly disappointed with tge epilogue as the chapters seemed unnessary until the last page where it sets you up for the next book. During these chapters, Lindsay thinks sge has lost her fiancé in a plane crash and you read a few pages of her heartache, until he just appears in her room, as he fortunately didn't board the plane that went down.

Again, I feel this part was entirely unneeded. So nsybe if you read this book, don't bother with the epilogue, you miss nothing, no round up, no set up, nothing.

Overall I rate it 4 stars, missing out on fice due to the ending.

Book #17.

🚨Trigger Warning Book Review🚨

Tonight, when I should have got an early night, I finished Blood Sisters by Jane Corry.

This is the first book in a long time I haven't been able to put down had kept you guessing from start to finish!

It touches on difficult topics such as, self- harming, rape, disabilities, and mental health issues.

The characters are so well written that I found myself wanting guilty parties to get away with crimes in court!

Please please please go out and pick up this book as I don't want to write spoilers but I need you to understand how good this was!

It's Our Secret

Book 16, 2021

Just finished It's Our Secret and I honestly don't know how I feel about it.

I don't want to judge too harshly as this is the first I've read in the series and as it was a prequal, I haven't got much to go on.

It was a page turner, I did want to read it. On the other hand, I feel like I've read the prologue and the first chapter and then put the book down. I will give the series a go, with the hope they aren't all so anticlimactic.

Postmortem by Patricia Cornwell.

Book 15, 2021.

So today I completed my reading goal of 15 books this year and what a book to complete it with!

Postmortem has lead character Dr. Kay Scarpetta, a medical examiner, looking into the violent and brutal murders of young women in Richmond.

From a sociological point of view, I love how it brought forward issues women face in some professions, from being one of a handful of women to study medicine, to the challenges faced in male dominated work encironments and Dr. Scarpetta is portrayed as a a strong, intelligent and successful woman, which I love to see in a book released in 1990.

This book is so well thought out, and how they actually begin to find evidence and clues to the killers identity is genius and I personally would never have guessed it.

The writing style is quite simple and it was so easy to keep up with, making it an excellent book to read while you should be sleeping.

Overall I would give it 4 stars. Definately pick it up, well worth the read.
