Retainer in!
I went to the dentist earlier , and I did not get fitted what I thought I'd get. It's like a little plastic retainer that fits onto my top teeth, I have to adjust it to make it tighter every week and need to see the dentist every 10. I have to wear it all the time apart from when I brush my teeth but I think I'm going to have trouble eating , I sound like daffy duck haha :-)
Morning guys!
Today I get my removable braces , I'm quite excited actually :-) I will post a picture when I get them on.
here if my before pictures!:
2 more days!
I'm oddly excited hehe
2nd dentist appointment!
Finally (after my dentist appointment being postponed 2 times ) I had my second appointment today. There has been a lot of poking and prodding this morning.
First of all I had a wax mold taken of both top/bottom of my teeth.
I then had a pink putty type substance which was inserted onto a tray which took a separate impression of both my top and bottom teeth. Contrary to what I have heard this was not unpleasant at all, I would compare it to chewing a large amount of blue-tack Which I'm sure we have all done as kids!
I then had photos taken from each angle , including a headshot which will later haunt me , as I am far from being photogenic!
After that I was lead to have two separate x-rays , one close up of the teeth and the other of my jaw line. None of these were unpleasant.
He told me that I may have to get teeth taken out later on in life as I have all 4 of my wisdom teeth waiting to come through :'(
He talked me through my course of treatment to come:
I will first have a retainer type brace (removable)
which will look like this!
This will take roughly around 6-8 months. But if my teeth move fast and I stick to the "rules" I could have them off in as little as 4 months.
I will then have a fixed brace (traintracks) for my overbite, these will have the power lines which will fix my overbite and cross bite.
This is what they will look like:
As for colors , I want them to be as least obvious as possible, I am considering clear , white and light grey.
I have my retainer brace fitted on the 25th of march , I will update then!
xx
im not gone! haha ;)
sorry I haven't updated in a while :( the dentist postponed the appointment , I think my second appointment is in 2 weeks time (moulds + xrays etc) and then I will have the fitting.

a friend with braces.
this was my friend jyoti before she got her braces , she had very wonky teeth which were all over the place.
this was her (blue/purple dress) 6 months later
her teeth are near perfect now , they have improved a lot since the last photo was taken (prom july 2012)
and she only has around 6 months left of braces.
im so jealous :(.
before photos :-)
I won't be getting braces for a while but I might as-well post my before photos so you guys can see the starting position.
I have my second consultation on the 7th of January (moulds, xrays ect.) and then I will have the actual fitting which I predict to be around mid-February!
right now I have a "severe" overbite of 9mm , snaggle teeth and overlapping teeth.
my dentist estimates that it will take 18-24 months to correct my teeth.
excuse the face and hair , i have the flu :(
so stay tuned and watch this space :-) xx
