"The Shape of Thy Soul is..."
Those words.
The words that started Yuu's Journey into an unknown world of magic at a College of Mages, while being a body completely void of magic. After everything that had happened to Yuu since arriving at Night Raven College in Twisted Wonderland, they knew that anything was possible regarding magic, but this was not one of those things.
It was during the much-anticipated Magic Broom Training in Coach Vargas' PE class, a staple event that every student looked forward to. Among the group of excited young witches and wizards, Yuu stood out as the only student without any magical abilities. Despite this, Yuu had a loyal companion—Grim, their Direbeast, who was not just a ride but also the source of Yuu's magic.
As the training session began, the air buzzed with anticipation. The students kicked off their lessons, soaring through the skies with grace and finesse on their enchanted brooms. Yuu, with a mixture of excitement and trepidation, settled onto Grim's broad back, gripping tightly as they followed the others.
At first, everything seemed to be going smoothly. Grim, a robust creature with flowing fur and a playful spirit, initially took to the broom gently. Yuu felt a rush of exhilaration, riding alongside fellow students as they laughed and shouted in delight. However, as Grim started to gain confidence in maneuvering the broom, things took a wild turn.
With a sudden burst of energy, Grim began to speed up, his laughter ringing in the air, drowning out Yuu’s mounting concerns. The broom whipped through the sky, soaring high and diving low, making hairpin turns that had Yuu gripping Grim with white knuckles. "Slow down, Grim! Please!" Yuu pleaded, but their voice was lost in the excitement of the moment. Grim’s shouts of “Look how awesome I am!” only fueled the reckless abandon.
The breeze rushed past Yuu's face, and while the thrill was intoxicating, the recklessness of Grim's antics sent a jolt of fear through Yuu. Flashes of worried glances from their classmates, who managed their own brooms with skill, added to the growing anxiety. Yuu felt a mix of exhilaration and panic, desperately trying to regain control over this wild ride, but Grim’s joy was infectious, and it seemed that nothing could slow him down as he embraced the thrill of the flight.
In the climactic moment, Grim executed a sudden and sharp left turn, his maneuver sending shockwaves of adrenaline coursing through Yuu. The abrupt shift in direction broke Yuu's grip on the broomstick, and they were flung into the air, plummeting more than twenty feet towards the ground below. The collective gasps of the Housewardens echoed in the air, their frantic cries tinged with panic as they realized they were too far away to intervene swiftly enough to save Yuu from the impending crash.
With the ground rushing up to meet them at an alarming rate, Yuu instinctively turned towards it, arms outstretched in a futile attempt to slow their descent. In that desperate moment, a primal instinct surged within them; they unleashed a powerful, guttural yelp that seemed to resonate with the very essence of magic itself. To their astonishment, a whirlwind of wind magic erupted explosively from their palms, forming a swirling cyclone around them. The force of the magic surrounded Yuu, abruptly halting their rapid descent with an electrifying energy that crackled in the air.
As the cyclone began to dissipate, the overwhelming force gradually transformed into a gentle embrace, cradling Yuu as they floated softly downward. What had once felt like an uncontrollable fall was now an ethereal drift, and they touched down on the ground with the tenderness of a feather landing on a breeze, leaving the onlookers in awe of the unexpected display of power. Yuu was so stunned by what had just happened, looking at their hands as if they'd never seen them before, whilst the murmurs of their fellow classmates spoke out.
"D-Did the Ramshackle Prefect just use magic?" Questioned a student bearing the Heartslabyl Crest.
"I-I saw it. That was wind magic, and it came from them." Voiced the confirmation of an Octavinelle Student.
"But, that's not possible!" Hissed a Scarabian,"The Prefect is Magicless! You all heard what the Dark Mirror said!"
"Then, explain how they just used wind magic." Challenged a Savanaclaw Student.
The students gathered in a flurry of excitement and concern, their minds racing as they speculated how the Magicless Prefect might have harnessed a surge of magic to extricate themselves from perilous circumstances. Those who shared a close bond with Yuu wasted no time, rushing to their side with expressions etched in worry, eager to ensure their safety. Riddle was the first to break the tense silence, his voice filled with urgency as he carefully examined Yuu. “Are you alright?” he asked, his sharp eyes scanning for any signs of injury, whether big or small. His protective nature compelled him to assess every inch of Yuu’s body for bruises or cuts incurred during the ordeal.
Leona, standing close by, reached out and grasped Yuu's hand with a firm but gentle grip, concern flickering in his golden eyes. “How did you even manage to use wind magic?” he inquired, his curiosity piqued alongside his worry. The idea of Yuu wielding magic felt almost surreal, and Leona couldn’t help but wonder about the implications.
Meanwhile, Azul hovered nearby, wearing a contemplative expression as he wrestled with the puzzle before him. He leaned over, trying to piece together a logical explanation for this sudden manifestation of magic in Yuu, a vessel traditionally devoid of such abilities. Despite his sharp intellect and keen analytical skills, his mind drew a blank, leaving him frustrated.
In the chaos, Kalim bounded over, an instinctive need to comfort his friend bubbling within him. He opened his arms in an enthusiastic hug but was abruptly halted by Jamil, his loyal Vice Warden and friend. “Wait, Kalim!” Jamil admonished, a serious edge to his tone. “Yuu’s still disoriented from everything that happened. Now isn’t the time for a surprise hug.”
Vil, the ever-diligent perfectionist, leaned closer to Yuu, his brows furrowing as he gently fiddled with Yuu’s hair, a habit he often indulged in as a way to soothe both himself and those around him. “Tell me how you’re feeling,” he urged, concern laced in his words, though his deft fingers continued their work with tranquil precision.
Intrigued and somewhat concerned, Ortho immediately began running scans on Yuu, his mechanical eyes whirring softly as he gathered data. Idia, glued to his tablet screen, furiously typed in searches for any possible explanation for Yuu’s unprecedented use of magic, but the results came up barren, leaving him increasingly bewildered.
Across the field, Lilia attempted to calm Malleus, who was growing increasingly agitated. Malleus’s concern for his human child was palpable, and he was feverishly advocating for the summoning of every magical doctor in Wonderland to diagnose whatever was ailing Yuu. Lilia, with a soft yet firm demeanor, tried to temper Malleus’ frantic energy, knowing that the situation required a level-headed approach.
Meanwhile, on the fringes of the gathering, Yuu’s friends from the other First Years had turned their ire towards Grim. They were vocally chastising him for his reckless antics that had endangered Yuu’s life yet again. Grim, ears drooping in shame, muttered an apology, the guilt evident on his furry face as he realized the consequences of his actions. The scene unfolded in a whirlwind of emotions, concern, and disbelief, all centered around the one person they all cared for deeply: Yuu.
All of it came to a halt once Coach Vargas told the Housewardens to speak to the Headmage & for the First Years to take Yuu to the Infirmary to ensure they were alright. With nodding heads, they all went to do as they were instructed, leading a confused and baffled prefect towards the school.
Yuu spent an entire week confined to the School's Infirmary, engulfed in a haze of confusion and anxiety. They found themselves staring intently at their hands, where an unfamiliar surge of magic had erupted, leaving them with an unending stream of questions about what had transpired during Gym Class. Each day felt longer than the last as they drifted deeper into their thoughts, pondering the events that led to this extraordinary occurrence.
During this time, a group of Magic Doctors and Scientists from the S.T.Y.X. were called in to investigate Yuu's condition. They conducted a series of tests that involved drawing samples of Yuu's blood and performing thorough scans of their body. With each examination, the results became more astonishing: the levels of magic detected in Yuu's system increased exponentially day by day, revealing a burgeoning potency that was both exhilarating and alarming.
As the scientists formulated theories and provided explanations, they began to piece together the enigma surrounding Yuu's abilities. Their research concluded that Yuu had been unknowingly absorbing raw magic from various sources in Wonderland. The primary source identified was the Overblot Accidents—instances where intense surges of magic occurred, creating an environment ripe for absorption. It was a revelation that came with both intrigue and concern, raising implications about the nature of magic itself.
When Headmage Crowley interrogated Yuu about the timeline of their magical absorption, a pivotal moment was unearthed. It was revealed that the chain reaction began with the First Overblot Accident involving Riddle Rosehearts. This shocking discovery left Riddle visibly stunned; he had never realized that his own Overblot incident was the catalyst that initiated Yuu's remarkable transformation. The realization that subsequent Overblot events, culminating in Malleus’ own, played a role in Yuu's development was a heavy weight on his shoulders.
The doctors explained that Yuu was not only absorbing magic but that this process had allowed for the gradual formation of a Magical Core within them. This core was still in the early stages of development, suggesting that Yuu's magical capabilities were destined to continue growing. As these revelations unfolded, Yuu grappled with the implications of their newfound reality, contemplating their place in a world where magic was both a blessing and a potential curse.
Which led them all back to this moment.
Once it was confirmed that Yuu's Sudden Magic posed no threat to their health or safety, the Housewardens convened to discuss an important decision: it was time for Yuu to be integrated into one of the Primary Dorms. This meant leaving Ramshackle behind—an abode that had seen its share of chaos and camaraderie. However, Grim, Yuu's loyal companion and self-proclaimed henchman, was vehemently against this idea. "There’s no way I'm letting my Henchman leave Ramshackle just to take orders from those Hot-Headed Housewardens!" he declared, his voice brimming with concern and indignation. Unfortunately, his protests fell on deaf ears as the Housewardens, dismissive of Grim's apprehensions, set about gathering all the students for the Sorting Ceremony of NRC's Ramshackle Prefect, which would take place in the Dark Mirror's Chamber.
The chamber buzzed with anticipation, packed to the brim with students who were mostly convinced that Yuu would end up in their respective dorms. A few, however, were engaged in friendly bets, eager to speculate which dorm would claim Yuu as their own. The atmosphere was electric, charged with excitement and rivalry.
At the forefront of the gathering stood the Housewardens, each vying for attention beside the shimmering surface of the Dark Mirror. As its Masked Face Visage materialized, reminiscent of countless Sorting Ceremonies before, the Housewardens exchanged heated glares. Riddle, the Housewarden of Heartslabyul, broke the tense silence, exclaiming, “Do we really need another ceremony? It’s painfully obvious that Yuu belongs in Heartslabyul! They’ve embodied Order and Law ever since their arrival at NRC. It’s practically written in the stars!”
Leona, the proud Housewarden of Savannaclaw, scoffed dismissively at Riddle’s argument. “You really think Yuu fits with your tea party of soft-bellied prey? Please! They’ve grown sharp edges in this world; they belong with the Pride, among those who are truly strong! We eat herbivores for breakfast, not have tea parties!” He leaned back, crossing his arms in a show of defiance.
Azul, the crafty Housewarden from Octavinelle, couldn’t help but chuckle at Leona’s antics. “How delightful it is to hear you wax poetic about ‘strength,’ Leona,” he said, adjusting his glasses with a calculated smirk. “But let’s not forget; Yuu’s cunning and adaptability would thrive in Octavinelle, where the Sea Witch’s cleverness reigns. There’s nothing stopping that from happening.”
Kalim, the cheerful Housewarden of Scarabia, simply smiled blissfully, undeterred by the bickering. “Actually, Jamil’s been tirelessly preparing Yuu’s new room in Scarabia. We’re even planning a grand welcome party for Yuu and Grim once they are all settled in! It’s going to be fantastic!” His excitement was infectious, lighting up the somewhat tense atmosphere.
Vil, the ever-regal Housewarden of Pomefiore, smiled gently in Kalim’s direction, appreciating the sentiment before responding. “As sweet as your gesture may be, Kalim, one must remember that true beauty deserves to be honored in a fitting setting. Yuu will undoubtedly join the oldest and most esteemed dorm, Pomefiore; only the fairest deserve the Fairest Queen’s grace, and that’s all there is to it.”
In a surprising turn of events, Idia, generally glued to his tablet, spoke up, breaking his usual silence. “Vil-shi, your Persuade Perk is far too weak for what’s about to happen. Yuu is practically destined for Ignihyde, where they’ll join me to form the most Overpowered Team in NRC history. Seriously, can you imagine?” His enthusiasm, though masked by a layer of inherent awkwardness, added another layer to the discussion.
As the banter unfolded, Malleus, the enigmatic Housewarden of Diasomnia, chuckled deeply. “Ah, the Child of Man is indeed fated to be part of Diasomnia, as surely as the Thorn Fairy wove this destiny. It is inevitable, and their arrival will bring forth significant change.” His words carried a weight that no one could easily dismiss.
With contrasting opinions swirling in the chamber, the Sorting Ceremony was set to reveal not just Yuu’s dorm but perhaps the beginning of a remarkable new chapter in the lore of NRC.
Soon enough, Crowley arrived with the tapping of his cane, beside him was Yuu, wearing the Ceremonial Robes that were given to them upon arrival. It was time for the Ceremony to begin.
"The Shape of Thy Soul Is... Shapeless."
The air in the Mirror Chamber was thick with tension as the familiar words echoed once more from the Dark Mirror. A collective gasp rippled through the group of students gathered in the dimly lit room, their faces reflecting a mixture of curiosity and apprehension. Riddle, the Housewarden of Heartslabyul, immediately felt a surge of indignation. He pivoted towards the ominous reflection, his eyes narrowing in defiance. “That’s not true,” he asserted firmly. “Yuu possesses magic now, which means their soul must have some form—some shape that defines their identity. They belong here.”
The Dark Mirror remained unmoved, its spectral voice resonating through the chamber. “I acknowledge the magic that resides within Yuu,” it proclaimed, a hint of disdain in its tone. “I sense the radiant power coursing through this once powerless vessel. But the truth remains: Yuu’s soul is formless. They cannot be sorted into any of the Seven Dorms of NRC.”
Leona, who had been leaning against a nearby wall with his trademark nonchalance, felt the simmering flames of frustration flare within him. Unable to contain himself, he stepped forward, his expression fierce. “Look deeper into Yuu’s soul!” he roared, his voice echoing off the chamber walls. “If you don’t, I swear I’ll grind you to dust!”
Crowley, the ever-watchful Headmaster, sensed the hostility escalating and swiftly interjected. “Enough!” he commanded, his voice cutting through the rising chaos like a knife. “Silence in the Mirror Chamber!” With decisive authority, he ordered the other students to return to their dormitories, their curiosity overshadowed by the uncomfortable atmosphere. As the students filed out, Yuu and Grim were given permission to leave as well. Grim, ever the feline, flashed a smug grin at the Housewardens, relishing the discord he’d witnessed. Yuu hoisted him onto their shoulder, and as they exited the room, Leona shot a threatening glare at the Direbeast, irritation etched across his features.
Once the room fell silent, Crowley directed the Housewardens to follow him to the Meeting Room, where they could address the situation more calmly. Yet, deep within himself, Crowley felt a nagging sense of foreboding; he knew that navigating this issue would be far more complicated than anyone anticipated.
Crowley stood in the midst of the gathering, gripping the Mage Stone Pens tightly in his hands. With careful intent, he made sure to collect one from each Housewarden before they proceeded into the Meeting Room, fully aware of the potential for a Magical Fight to erupt amongst the students. The thought of such chaos was daunting; repairing the damage that could ensue would be financially straining, and he preferred to maintain a semblance of order.
In a nearby corner, Riddle was pacing, his voice rising in agitation as he launched into a passionate rant. "Something isn't right with the Dark Mirror!" he exclaimed, frustration gnawing at him. "Yuu’s Magic should have infused their soul with a distinct form, or at least provided some indication as to which dorm they should belong to!” His brows furrowed with concern as he gestured toward the enchanted artifact that had mystified them all.
Leona was shifting restlessly around the room. His sharp fangs were bared in irritation as he vehemently insisted, "I won’t let that mirror dictate Yuu's destiny! They deserve to be in the King of Beasts' Dorm with us; after all, they belong in the pride!" His voice carried a possessive edge as he envisioned a future in which Yuu stood proudly amongst the lions.
Meanwhile, Azul had settled into a chair, adjusting his glasses with precision. He narrowed his eyes at the discussion unfolding before him and chimed in, "But why does the Dark Mirror refuse to allocate Yuu to any dorm? Its behavior is baffling." His logical mind raced, attempting to piece together the mystery with the rest of his fellow Housewardens.
Across the room, Kalim was engaged in a rapid-fire conversation on his phone with Jamil. His voice was animated as he relayed the troubling news regarding the Dark Mirror's declaration: Yuu's soul was still shapeless. "This means they can't join Scarabia with Grim," he explained, his brow furrowing in disappointment. "We must discuss what this means for all of us during this meeting."
Vil, ever the perfectionist, was strolling back and forth, mulling over the implications of Yuu's situation. He muttered under his breath, "How is it even conceivable that Yuu's Soul remains formless, especially after they’ve manifested magic?" His meticulous nature left him searching for answers in the chaos.
Idia sat slumped over in his chair, eyes wide, animatedly dissecting the situation with a blend of excitement and concern. "Yuu must possess an Anime Protag's Soul!" he proclaimed, wild enthusiasm igniting in his voice. "Their stats are off the charts, making them way too overpowered for any normal dorm!" His eyes glinted with a mixture of admiration and envy toward Yuu's supposed prowess.
In stark contrast to the lively debate, Malleus remained seated, his expression contemplative and withdrawn. He felt an unfamiliar weight in his heart; the realization that the Child of Man he had come to care for would not be joining Diasomnia, the dorm he had envisioned as their rightful place. He held onto his composure, silent yet deeply affected by the implications of Yuu's fate.
The room buzzed with anticipation, each Housewarden grappling with their thoughts and emotions as they contemplated the fate of Yuu, whose unique magic had left everyone puzzled.
Crowley raised his hand, commanding the attention of all the Housewardens present in the grand meeting hall. The air was thick with curiosity and apprehension as he insisted that everyone fall silent and take their seats at the long, ornate table. Once the Housewardens settled into their chairs, the atmosphere grew charged with anticipation. Crowley began to speak, his voice steady but laced with uncertainty.
"I must address the peculiar situation regarding Yuu," he stated, glancing at the faces of the assembled Housewardens. "As many of you are aware, the Dark Mirror has refused to sort Yuu into any specific dormitory. After much contemplation, I’ve come to a hypothesis: Yuu lacks a singular dominant trait that would typically categorize a student into one of our established houses. Instead, it appears that Yuu possesses a unique blend of qualities from multiple traits, which has resulted in a sort of balance that the mirror cannot interpret, thus preventing it from allocating them to a single dormitory."
Riddle, ever the meticulous thinker, chimed in, his brow furrowed in thought. "While your explanation is compelling, it still does not clarify the next steps we should take regarding Yuu’s situation," he said, his voice steady but edged with concern.
Crowley exhaled slowly, gathering his thoughts. "Although Yuu was not sorted into one of our traditional dorms, they are still recognized as the Ramshackle Prefect. This designation is significant; it grants them a potential position as a Housewarden, especially if Ramshackle is officially acknowledged as a dormitory. That said, we must consider the reality that Yuu's current magical output is insufficient for them to step into the role of Housewarden at this time."
The weight of his words hung in the air, and a tension filled the room as Crowley continued. "Moreover, there is substantial administrative work that needs to be addressed. We need to devise a structured plan to support Yuu in enhancing their magical skills and acclimating to this unusual role within our community."
The Housewardens exchanged glances, a silent understanding passing among them before they all nodded in agreement. In unison, they began to engage in animated discussions, brainstorming ideas on how to construct the schedule. Beneath the surface of their conversations, however, each of them held their own ulterior motive: they all intended to persuade Yuu to consider joining their respective dorms, each eager to claim Yuu as an ally and a companion at their side. The dynamics in the room shifted from mere logistics to a subtle competition, as they plotted and strategized to entice Yuu into their fold.
As Yuu diligently swept the dusty rug in the Ramshackle Lounge, a sudden sneeze escaped them, echoing in the quiet room. Grim, who was seated nearby with his tuna can, looked up, his bright eyes filled with concern. "Are you okay?" he asked, his voice a blend of worry and curiosity.
Yuu paused for a moment, scanning the dim corners of the lounge as a shiver ran down their spine. "It feels like someone is gunning for us," they replied, a hint of unease in their tone.
In response, Grim puffed out his furry white chest, striking a valiant pose. "Don’t worry! The Great Grim is on the job! I’ll keep you safe, no matter what!" His words, though meant to reassure, carried an air of bravado that sometimes masked his own fears.
Yuu couldn't help but smile at Grim's enthusiasm, his unwavering loyalty lifting their spirits. With a renewed sense of purpose, they returned to sweeping the rug, blissfully unaware of the ominous storm brewing outside their dorm, the wind howling, and thick clouds gathering ominously on the horizon.
You and Mask are so cool! I love both of your writing and the shadows that you weave!!
🐺(Broken Truth), looking up from the parchment in her claws: Thank you for your kind words.
🎭(Mischievous Mask), floating around in the void above Broken's Head, looking at other parchments: Hehehehehe, it's nice to know that the words we weave are enjoyed~
🐺(Broken Truth), looks up at Mask: What are you doing up there? Aren't you supposed to be working on another request from a few moons ago?
🎭(Mischievous Mask), chuckles as a taunting finger waves: Temper~. Temper, Wolfie~. Things like that take time. What's more, we've been working on other things to the point that the Shadow Quill is out of ink.
🐺(Broken Truth), raises an eyebrow as an ear flicks: It is? Did you put it away for a refill?
🎭(Mischievous Mask), chuckles: Of course, Wolfie. There's nothing to worry about.
🐺(Broken Truth), looking at the parchment within her claws: So, you say. Could you check on that other thing?
🎭(Mischievous Mask), chuckles: Of course~ *Floats away into the void*
🐺(Broken Truth), looking at the parchments overhead: Just what were they looking for up there? *Shrugs* Probably nothing to worry about. *Goes back to reading the parchment within her claws*
Can we make Jabberwocky about Roxas or think of Roxas as the older brother in the yandere series? Mostly because I think it would be funny as heck to see Riddle try to search and capture the prince of hearts
🐺(Broken Truth), reading the ask written upon parchment: A Roxas Version of Jabberwocky? *Wolf Ear Twitches* I believe I did base the Jabberwocky Chapter off Roxas; however, it's not that cut and dry. I may consider it, but that's going to take planning, or whenever that damn Thought Cloud comes back; I need to pull the rest of the Jabberwocky Series from it.
just curious, when will u update jabberwocky? No pressure ofccc!!
🐺(Broken Truth): I'll be honest with you, I'm not sure. Jabberwocky was something I pulled out of a thought cloud that was hovering over my head. I'm going to either think of the best way to continue the story, or another thought cloud will pop up. Depends on what happens first.
Does Marcus and Grim go to Floyd’s basketball games to cheer him on? Do they manage to drag Azul and Jade to them? Does Marcus and Grim ever go hiking with Jade for his Mountaineering club? Do the five of them ever do any outing together as like one big family?
🐺(Broken Truth), looking at the ask on the Parchment Scroll: A Family Question? *Smirks* Alright. Let The Words Weave Together!
Basketball Games?
Answer: Yes, they will. If there isn't a Spelldrive game, Marcus and Grim will try to support Floyd's games instead. They cheer for him, but not in the usual way. Due to their time spent together, Floyd has developed a sixth sense that alerts him when Marcus, Grim, Azul, or Jade are nearby. Marcus always sits in the front row to keep an eye on the field. He knows that some players may play unfairly, and he will not allow anyone to accuse Floyd of doing something he didn't.
Azul & Jade?
Answer: Yes, they attend, but not as often. Azul spends a lot of time working with the Mostro Lounge and managing Housewarden duties, while Jade usually goes mushroom hunting, and Floyd plays his games. However, Marcus made them promise that if there aren't any critical matters to attend to, they will join Floyd's games. Floyd is already happy to have Marcus and Grim there with him, but having Azul and Jade in the sands alongside him motivates Floyd to win. Even if they don't win, Marcus will treat Leech Teen to something tasty—though takoyaki is off-limits!
Mountain Lovers' Club?
Answer: Yes. Marcus is a primal man, while Grim possesses the body and mind of a cat, regardless of how much he tries to deny it. When Marcus has a day off from the Mostro Lounge and no other obligations, he joins Jade for mushroom hunting and mountain climbing as part of the Mountain Lovers' Club. He uses his feline powers to reach the difficult spots where the mushrooms Jade wants are located.
Family Outings?
Answer: Absolutely! Azul, The Tweels, and Grim are Marcus's family, and he loves spending time with them. Therefore, Marcus often asks if they want to make plans for family outings. Usually, they go to the large shopping strip to look for things to buy and stop for a bite to eat.
🐺(Broken Truth), closing the parchment scroll: And those words have been woven. Hm... I need to think of ship names for the couples I have.
Was Icarus somewhat adopted by the teachers since he wants nothing to do with Crowley? Like does he live at Ramshackle with Yuu or does he have his own place? How long does he stay in Styx before being allowed to leave? Does Deidre take custody of him? I saw that he takes Crowley’s place in the future, what happened to Crowley?
🐺(Broken Truth), reading the parchment with the ask on it: A request about Icarus, huh? This seems to be interesting. *Holds up hand, allowing the Shadow Words to flow from sleeve* Let The Words Weave Together.
Adopted?
Answer: In a way, yes. Icarus wasn't legally adopted by any of the staff members since he's technically older than most of them. Here's the breakdown:
Icarus died when he was 25
After the genetic clone (Yuu) was created, there was an order from Luther & Selene Shroud (Idia, Aoda, and Ortho's Parents) to have Icarus' Cadavar destroyed, but Dr. Casper Wayne disregarded that order and worked on reviving the REAL Icarus.
When Yuu was 6 years old, Icarus' Revival was complete, and the counter on his life began again, still at 25 years old.
During the decade Yuu was on Earth, Icarus was learning to be alive again, thus putting his biological age at 35, making him older than Crewel (Who is 32) & Vargas (Who is 30).
To keep things simple, Icarus just says that he's 25, so it's not too weird.
As for the relationships that Icarus has with each of the staff members, Trein acts like a Grandfather who believes that Icarus should have more fun with his new life, willing to let Icarus get away with making woodwork with his chisel, rather than Crewel is. Crewel is somewhat of a Father figure, but Icarus sees him more like a brother who tries to keep him centered. Icarus seems to see Vargas as more of a Father Figure to him.
Residence?
Answer: No, Icarus does not stay at Ramshackle Dorm with Yuu. While on Campus, Icarus stays in the Groundskeeper Cabin with Jacob Blackstone (Howl) as Jacob's Assistant Groundskeeper. When Icarus is not on Campus, he resides within Crowley Estate, the long forgotten & abandoned home of the Crowley Family. He's currently working on getting it back up to code and liveable. For now, Icarus has a small apartment on the Isle of Sages.
STYX?
Answer: Since Icarus spent 10 years learning to be human again, Luther & Selene allowed Icarus to leave STYX to attend NRC, but placed Idia as Icarus' Retainer to make sure he acted right while on campus. Idia never really had to deal with that since the staff members, Yuu, and Diedre were the ones who watched over him.
Diedre's Custody?
Answer: Diedre can't get custody of Icarus per se since Icarus is over the legal age, but she does have Power of Attorney over him, as there are some things he's not aware of, and she doesn't trust her idiot older brother to handle anything.
Crowley In The Future?
Answer: After the destruction of NRC & the coma of The Ramshackle Members, Dire Crowley was arrested and locked away for all his crimes. Icarus took the reins of NRC and used the remaining Crowley Family Funds to repair the school, even getting donations from the Ramshackle Family Members. Once the school was complete, Icarus was voted in as Headmage, and he's the only Crowley trusted with the position. He would visit STYX every weekend to see Yuu and the other Ramshackle Members while they were in their comas.
🐺(Broken Truth), lowers the parchment: And that's the breakdown for Icarus. Hope you all like it.
Did Idia and Asher do the Eternity float thing too or did they have a different tradition of marrying? Did Idia get a choker too or did he give Asher a ring? Did anyone absolutely deck Asher and Azul’s birth father in the face after finding out that he purposely kept the two apart to use Asher for his UM? Was Ortho the ring bearer?
🐺(Broken Truth), looking at the ask: Oh? Something about Idia & Asher? Nice. Hm... I need to come up with a ship name for them. *Looking around for the Shadow Quill* Oh, right. That Mischievous Mask as the Shadow Quill. Oh, well. *Holds up hand, calling forth the Inked Letters from her sleeve* Let the words weave together.
Wedding Theme?
Asher and Idia both hold a deep respect for each other's cultural heritage. However, they chose to celebrate their wedding in a completely unique way: with a Game-Themed Wedding! Idia dressed as the main protagonist from their favorite RPG, while Asher took on the role of the beloved love interest. Diedre, who has a passion for photography, found a location that closely resembled the wedding setting from the game. Darius crafted the outfits for the occasion, and everyone wore them in keeping with the game theme. Meanwhile, Marcus prepared food inspired by the recipes from the game. As a special surprise for each other, Asher recited his vows in Greek, while Idia spoke his vows in Mer Language, which he learned from Marcus.
Choker or Ring
Asher was actually the first to propose with a set of rings that said "Player 1 & Player 2". Idia took the idea from those rings to have identical wedding rings for their special day.
Decking the Father
Oh yes, definitely. When Kane Ashengrotto arrived at Asher and Idia's wedding, the first thing that happened was Coral slapping him across the face. Following that, Georgina sent her sons—Marcus, Floyd, and Jade—to remove him from the venue while ensuring he stayed out of sight of the happy couple.
Ortho's Role in the Wedding
Unfortunately, Ortho was not the Ring Bearer; that honor was given to Grim. However, he played an even more important role as Asher's Best Man. Asher asked his "Phantom Puppy" to help him uphold Shroud Traditions so that he could surprise Idia on their wedding day. It was actually Ortho who taught Asher Greek. At the wedding, Ortho's smile radiated pride and pure happiness as he listened to Asher speak his vows to Idia in Greek.
🐺(Broken Truth), pulling the shadows back into her sleeve: I hope you liked it. Also, if anyone can think of a good ship name for Asher & Idia, let me know.
Mischievous Mask, I’m kinda curious on how you would write Marcus and Azul’s night that lead to Malachite being conceived since we learned about it involving catnip and Azul’s mating season. Is Azul any different during his season? If so can you write if Broken permits it?
🎭(Mischievous Mask), reading the ask before snickering: Ooooo~ This looks like it will be fun. *Floats over to Broken Truth* Oi, Wolfie. Mind if I borrow the Shadow Quill for another story?
🐺(Broken Truth), reading a scroll: Does it fall within our Guidelines?
🎭(Mischievous Mask), nods: It does. I've checked.
🐺(Broken Truth): Alright. *Holds up the Shadow Quill* Just don't go overboard.
🐺(Broken Truth), looking up from her scroll: I feel a chill in the air...
🎭(Mischievous Mask), looking at the camera: I got the Wolf's Permission, so I'll get cracking on it: Keep an eye out for "Liquid Love" further down the line. See Ya~ *Floats off somewhere*
What truly happened between Askari and Leona when they were children up till Askari’s “death” and does Leona have PTSD from it?
🐺(Broken Truth), reading the ask, swaying her tail in thought: Hm. The Tale of the Silver & Bronze Princes. This is going to be good. *Holds up her Shadow Quill* Let The Words Weave Together.
Shadow Quill, floats from Broken's Clawed Hand, writing along the parchment:
The Tragedy of Silver & Bronze Crowns
As valuable as silver & bronze are, they can never be gold; just as Leona & Askari could never be Kings of the Sunset Savanna when their Elder Brother, Falena, sat upon the throne as the Reigning King once their father fell ill. Falena stood in the light, basking in the praise and respect of the people of the kingdom, while Leona and Askari were relegated to the shadow, but at least they had each other; at least, that's what Askari believed.
Unlike the Council & Falena, Askari listened to Leona, understood his brilliance; the youngest of the Kingscholar Brothers once roared that Falena was nothing but a figurehead to the Council, who controlled everything, stuck in the Old Ways. Askari voiced that Leona would make a far better king than Falena, because he cared for ALL THE PEOPLE, especially those who resided just outside of the sun's golden rays (The Hyenas). This would gain the 3rd Prince some ire from the Council, but he did; however, Leona did care, and he didn't want his little brother to suffer by being associated with him. So, he did the only thing he thought was best: Create a rift between the silver and bronze crowns.
Leona started ignoring Askari, trying to create a rift between them, trying to get the younger cub to turn his back on him just like everyone else did; only Askari never did. Not once did Askari turn his back on Leona; he chalked up every attempt Leona made to separate them to the stress of being ignored by the council & Falena. Askari kept jumping over whatever opening Leona tried to make between them to remain at his brother's side. "We have each other, Leo'. No matter what," is what Askari would remind him; knowing Askari would never turn his back on him made Leona both happy & sad. As long as Askari remained beside him, he would suffer the same ire from the Council as Leona did; he couldn't let that happen to his brother. Askari would be better off without him.
Leona's PTSD
It wasn't supposed to happen like this. It WASN'T supposed to happen. That’s what the Second Prince of Sunset Savanna kept telling himself after the Council declared Askari Kingscholar, the Third Prince and Bronze Crown of Sunset Savanna, dead, with his body never recovered. This news had mentally shattered Leona. One of the only people who truly loved and believed in him was gone—gone forever. And it was all because he had wasted time telling Askari how little his life mattered as the Third Prince, hoping to create the rift Leona was looking for. He squandered that precious time, and it cost him EVERYTHING. The rock was giving way, and Leona didn’t notice, but Askari did. He did the only thing he knew to get Leona out of the way: he scarred the Second Prince's face to force him to back up just before the stone crumbled away, sending the Third Prince into the flooded rapids below. The water consumed him, sweeping him away from the one place he had always known to be home.
For the first few weeks, Leona spoke to no one. He walked around with Askari's favorite scarf wrapped around his wrist, trying to keep a piece of Askari with him. He even slept in Askari's bed until Falena ordered the room to be sealed off to preserve the Third Prince's mirror. This decision sent Leona into a frenzy, and he attacked Falena. The King of Sunset Savanna easily defeated his brother and told him that his actions were harming his health. He urged Leona to stop succumbing to depression. The weight of Askari's death hung heavily over Leona, but he didn't listen. He had lost all motivation and no longer cared. Without Askari and Nox, there was no one left who believed in him. Leona had given up.
As time passed and Orientation for the NRC approached, Leona expected it to be the same as always: each dorm would receive new students, the leaders would deliver a few speeches, and then Leona would retreat to his dorm for some much-needed sleep. However, this time was different. When the coffin containing Askari—now a young man and a Crowned Prince in his own right—opened and he emerged, Leona felt intense sensations; his Scar began to burn, his head throbbed, and it all became overwhelming, though he didn’t show it.
When Askari was sorted into Diasomnia alongside his Brothers-in-Fangs, Ban and Roth, Leona's discomfort intensified. In that moment, Leona’s mind grappled with a difficult choice: should he fight to bring Askari into the Pride, or should he avoid confrontation due to his past sins? Either way, he realized that his naps and sleep would never be peaceful again.
🐺(Broken Truth), grabbing the Shadow Quill: Thus, the Tale of the Silver & Bronze Crowns has been told.
Do Marcus and Azul ever go back to the Coral Sea with the Leech bros and Grim? I figured Azul would want his family to see his husband he suddenly married during his second year at NRC without telling them first that he was going to elope. Did Marcus and Azul do the Mer tradition of doing the Eternity Float ceremony like Jade and the other help with in the Eternity Float event since Marcus is human and Azul is a mer? Who tried to knock their boat? Was it the twins? I could imagine Floyd trying to get back at Marcus for the Sea Urchin bed incident in childhood. How did Marcus become an honorary Leech? Would the silver violin work on Jade and Floyd since Marcus becomes apart of the Leech family making Jade and Floyd like his brother in sea or something?
🐺(Broken Truth), looking at the ask: Oh? That's a lot to wonder. *Smiles* Let's do it. Shadow Quill, let the words weave together!
Shadow Quill, startings weaving words on the parchment:
Going to the Coral Sea?
Answer: Yes, Marcus and Grim do go to the Coral Sea to visit the Ashengrotto Family during a Long Holiday when the water is not too cold for Azul to handle; most likely during the Summer Vacation or Spring Break. Coral is over the moon that her Little Zulie married the human who loved him since they were children, but Bruno, Coral's Husband, didn't know Marcus as a child, so he had a sit-down with him while the two of them had a drink. Bruno never told Marcus, but he slipped a Truth Potion into Marcus' Drink for a truthful response.
Mer Tradition/Eternity Float?
Answer: While they are legally married, Marcus always dreamt of having a wedding with Azul, so the two of them went to Ultramarine City to hold the Eternity Float Ceremony with Georgina Leech organizing the wedding. Marcus surprised everyone by speaking the Mer Language during his vows to Azul at the altar.
Who tipped the boat?
Answer: FLOYD. It was FLOYD. He was not going to let that moment pass him up to get back at Marcus for the Sea Urchins.
Honorary Leech?
Answer: Marcus became an Honorary Leech after locating and building the Favorite Car of Austin Leech, the Twins' Father, and gifting Georgina Leech some pieces of Le Loup d'argent's Collection. Considering everything Marcus does for the Twins, Georgina offered him to become an Honorary Leech, causing him to get the Teal Highlight in his hair.
Silver Violin on Leech Twins?
Answer: No. The Silver Violin only works on people who are family-bound in ways that can be proven, such as Blood (Like Trein or his Sisters) or Marriage (Azul); even Grim, who is Marcus' Son, is not affected by the Silver Violin.
🐺(Broken Truth): The words have been woven. I hope you like them.
Does the twisted wonderland law allow Deidre and Crewel to adopt Roxas and Riddle easily from the Rosehearts after maybe an evaluation on Riddle’s body that shows neglect and also Roxas testimony about his death? Does the Queen of Hearts get involved?
🐺(Broken Truth), reading the Queen of Hearts Journals: It's a lot more complicated than that. Shadow Quill!
Shadow Quill, floats over to Broken: ???
🐺(Broken Truth): Weave the words, please.
Shadow Quill, starts writing on its own:
The Law & The Adoption
The fact of the matter is that Riddle & Roxas' Adoption was not wrapped in Wonderland's Law as much as normal adoption would be due to several factors: Diedre's Standing as Crowley's Sister, Roxas ' lack of a Heart, and the Rosehearts' Standing in the Queendom of Roses.
Diedre As Crowley's Sister
Because Diedre is Crowley's Little Sister, the law would not find a suitable guardian in the normal sense of the word because of her brother's constant involvement in the law. Because of this, she convinced (*Cough* Blackmailed *Cough*) the Rosehearts' Family to sign over their Parental Rights to Riddle & Roxas with no legal resistance, or she would release very interesting documents that would affect the Rosehearts' Magical Clinic in the Queendom of Roses. Fearing what Diedre could do, they signed over their rights with very little resistance.
Roxas' Heartlessness
Roxas knew he couldn't go to the courts, who's going to speak to a dead man without freaking out, locking him up, and calling STYX to have him dissected like a frog? Out of concern for Roxas, Diedre and Crowley did not allow him to speak to the courts.
The Queen of Hearts' Involvment
Similar to Roxas' Situation, the Queen of Hearts lived a long time ago, and having her involved would cause much-needed attention that the family did not need. Once the adoption went through, Riddle was named one of the Princes of Hearts with Diedre's Agreement.
🐺(Broken Truth): That's the situation with the Crewel-Hearts Family as best as I can explain it right now.
