Still a first draft, I know they're clunky. I'm just curious lol

A gold sliver of sunlight peaks through a gap in the curtains, rousing Kiran from his sleep as it insistently glimmers on his face.

A scream, high pitched and grating, clearly thick-full of terror and grief, cuts through the air.

Time passes, but Kiran doesn’t notice.

The front door shuts behind Kiran with a small click, and he can’t help the relief that fills him.

Thud, thud, thud.

The two walk to town hall with their hands tightly clasped together.

If it were not for the Sun shining brightly overhead, lighting his path and warming the side of his face, Kiran would have slumped to the ground and not got up again.

Kiran spends the rest of the day stuck in a haze, Leah’s parting words stuck in his thoughts.

The book that sits in Leah’s lap is thick and worn, the edges of the pages begining to fray slightly.

The first step outside instantly relieves the claustrophobia that had begun to form; the Sun shines on his skin, warm and soft, though a blanket of clouds still covers the sky.

The walk to the Apothecary is quiet.

btw if I am writing a scene where someone is in a house, I am picturing my own house. If I read a scene where someone is in a house, I am picturing my own house. Every character lives in my house and we are partying rn.

Don't you love it when you need a specific word for something, you think of some sounds and you try to write it out, and then when you google it is fits the scenario exactly? Perfection.

I say something deadpan but they interpret it as mean, so they answer meanly back, so I start getting annoyed and answer just as meanly, so they answer more meanly back, so I answer more meanly back, so they answer—
