Pseudo Science V Science

What’s the difference between Pseudo Science and Science? I’ve been ruminating on the question for some time. I think a good starting point would be to consider what it means to apply the scientific method. My sources suggest that the scientific method is a methodical approach to acquire knowledge. It requires the formulation of a hypothesis, applied skepticism, measurement-based testing of experimental outcomes and refinement or elimination of the hypothesis based on the outcomes of the experiment. This implies that a hypothesis must be falsifiable, which makes sense since an experiment would be meaningless if its outcome neither supports nor rejects the hypothesis. Although the scientific method sets the general guidelines for a strictly scientific experiment, its ambiguous to me how one could consistently apply these rules to disparate fields of inquiry. Anyways I’m feeling brain fried at the moment, I’ll  postpone my investigation.

Post Entry 1

It’s in my boredom that I write this text. Jeez its a been a while since I’ve entered this thought space. I submitted to my inconsistent habits once again, I thought I’d be able to consistently post my weekly progress. I suppose that was a far fetched goal. I guess that’s why I’ve titled this text Post Entry 1.

Some insight in to the matrix. We’re stuck in the matrix for ever.

The time dependent schrodinger equation is provided, the problem asks to show that the given  wave equation does not satisfy the time dependent schrodinger equation. Easy enough to show. Follow a simple heuristic, a sequence of steps to arrive to the conclusion and bam! you’ll have obtained the answer. However, the physical sciences have two components from which they’re analyzed, quantitative and qualitative, which brings me to my inquiry, what does this even mean? According to an online source, the schrodinger equation predicts future behavior of a dynamic system in terms of the wave function psi. Given, a large number of events, a distribution emerges. I suppose that makes sense. We’ve diverged from the deterministic machinery offered by Newtonian mechanics the moment we entered the modern age of physics.

The alphabet from a new angle. Here’s a challenge with some simple rules, pick a two digit number, add its unit digit with its tens digit, subtract that sum from the originally chosen number, repeat the process with the next number(72-(7+2)=63, 63-(6+3)=54 etc). An iteration of the rules will always bring you back to 9  every time.  Why is this true? 

Answer: A two digit number can be written as A*10^1+B*10^0. Subtraction shows (A*10+B)-(A+B)=9A. It follows that all iterations continued after this step are multiples of 9. Repeated subtraction is just division.

In my quest to learn about the grand design of the universe, I’ve come to notice that the answers to our questions are found on fundamental truths. To that effect, I decided to touch upon elementary geometry. Another look at geometry shows us why there is 180 degrees in a triangle.
