Introduction to The Erins Forgot

Whether you randomly stumbled upon this post by scrolling through Warrior Cats related tags, or were linked to this blog by someone with too many ideas but too little time, chances are you’re at least a little bit curious as to what is going on here.

What is The Erins Forgot?

The Erins Forgot is an AU rewrite of Warrior Cats, a passion project of some random dude on the internet who cares too much about fictional battle cats. This blog is going to mostly contain loredumps, character designs, and eventual links to completed chapters, but also will serve as a place for people to ask questions about what is going on here.

All the proper writing done for this AU will be posted on my AO3, under the TheErinsForgot pseudonym right here!

What is this AU rewrite trying to accomplish?

There are several points that will be kept in mind (and hopefully fulfilled) as the project is being worked on:

The timeline of events will be kept as close to canonical as possible, however the exact context and circumstances of those events are subject to change (for example all character deaths that happen in the canon series will happen in the rewrite, but the exact moment and cause may differ)

Worldbuilding will be greatly expanded upon, with the Clans’ origins, cultures, rules, and more being explored within both this blog’s loredumps and the actual rewrite itself

All characters will have proper personalities and backgrounds that tie into them (yes, this includes background characters)

Incest and worrying age gaps will be promptly dealt with and removed through whatever means deemed most fitting on a case by case basis

More outright stated LGBT+ representation

Character designs that skirt the line between genetically accurate and heavily stylised

More fantasy elements, including a bunch more supernatural powers

Taking inspiration from anime and manga (mostly shonen and seinen) when it comes to certain story elements and plot progression

Just trying to have fun with this honestly

i think the ideal version of warrior cats contains a fair amount of villains who have very real issues that drive them to make horrible decisions, villains who the audience could even find more heroic than the protagonists, and then some fuckers who just simply were not told ‘no’ enough times as a child.

Can any non-high rank be chosen to be deputy/leader? I figure warriors obviously can, but for example, could a stylist in RiverClan also be elligible for the role of leader/deputy? Does it just depend on the cat?

Yup, you're exactly correct!

Oakheart for example is a former Stylist themself!

Out of all of the warrior cats that you have made the bios for, which one is your most favorite character in the books vs which became your favorite character when you remade them?

Oh man, that's a bit of a hard question, wheeze.

For canon favourite characters, I think for me it's a tie between Nightstar and Runningnose, but when it comes to my remakes...

Kinda hard to pick favourites, ngl, but if I *had* to choose... I really like what I've done with Scorchbreeze, Mudpad, and Henry. But overall I'm proud of pretty much every rewritten cat so far.

Who is the next cat that you will be making?

The next character profile on the list is Deerfoot, however I do want to actually add all the character appearance descriptions to the already existing profiles first.

Okay so in one of your posts you mentioned that cats who die might not die at the same time they did in the books. Does that mean characters who die as kits can become apps or will they still die as kits?

That's correct! Cats that died as kits can and often will survive long enough to at least have a more developed personality! Whether that means they will survive till apprenticehood or die just before it will depend on their specific circumstances.

This Au of Yellowfang: I named him Brokenkit

Everyone else in the clan: uuuhhhh hey little Yewkit

Well in this AU Yellowfang isn't even the one to name him!

Why did you change brokenstars name cause wasn't he named after yellowfangs broken heart

Because at the end of the day the rest of the clan saw that name as being because of his broken tail. His warrior name only contributes to that.

Whether or not Yellowfang had some deeper reason behind that name is irrelevant to me when I just don't really like the name.
