“Alright then. All I ask for is decent wifi and access to a town that has at least two fast food chain options.”

“You’re no more difficult than I expected you to be,” she smirks before taking a bite of bacon. “We should find a house then. One with a space we can convert for you for the full moon. And also so we can actually have our own space instead of invading each others. That’d be a good start at the very least.”
He nods, accepting the answer. “Somewhere not a city but not the middle of the forbidden forest?” He adds on, almost hopefully.

“You can eat, I’ll talk.” Erika offers with a shrug. “As we both very well know I have no idea how to be an Alpha. On top of that this wasn’t exactly something done because you were just super hyped for that wolf life. Add in our history and I’m pretty sure there’s at least one god out there laughing at us. It’s been really hard for me, Jules. Instinctually I want what’s best, I want you to be happy and there was a time when I thought I knew how to make you happy. I was wrong then and now I won’t even pretend to know. So you need to tell me. If you want to leave you know I’ll respect that decision. If you want to stay then we need a bigger place because such close quarters is not exactly healthy all things considered.”
The old instinct to snap an answer is there, bubbling under the surface of his skin, an old tactic used to push away the overwhelming emotions or fears of hurt. They are still there, but the hour is too early and frankly, he’s aware it can’t keep going on like this. Firm choices had to be made. “Look. I for what it’s worth, you aren’t a bad alpha. I’m not an idiot. I know I’m difficult and you’re trying...” He starts, looking at her. He hates exposing this broken side, but if anyone knows about it, it’s her. “-but I’m not exactly good at being happy. Or believing in what does. I don’t think I’ll ever be, someone who can just...be satisfied with the little things. I’ll want space and I’ll want to push.” Jules shrugs, “That being said, it’s not like I’m unhappy or that I want to leave again. Not like I did. That’s about all I know, Erika. I’m just as lost as you when it comes.”

Tucking the joint between her lips Erika plates them both up and sets on in front of Julius before folding herself into the chair across from him and offering the joint wordlessly. Sipping at her tea, she swallows before speaking. “I think we need to talk. About this whole situation and shit.”
He’s about to take the joint, but pauses at her words. The words we need to talk have never, in the history of words, ever meant a good or pleasant conversation was going to be hard. With a frown he sets aside the joint to retake his coffee, takes several large sips and sighs. “Alright then. I mean, I’d like to eat first, but fuck it.”

“Today is gonna be the day that they’re gonna throw it back to you,” Erika sings to herself while cracking an egg one handedly into a pan sizzling with butter. Her other hand is occupied with a joint that she puffs before continuing, “by now you should’ve somehow realized what you gotta do. I don’t believe that anybody feels the way I do, about you now.” In the oven bacon is crackling happily and she’s all but salivating, more than ready to dig into breakfast and enjoy a lazy Sunday in her pajamas.
Jules isn’t a morning person by nature, but food is worth leaving the nest of blankets. With a slow yawn he manages to follow the scent of food (without stubbing a toe or walking into a wall) to where Erika is cooking. He steals a cup of coffee, fills it to the brim with creamer and takes a seat with a long sip.
Tribulation
juliette-athena-delacroix:
“No I mean the actual devil, Lucifer himself. C’mon dude you think I can’t sniff out a devil from a muggle?” Juliette questions indignantly. “I made him tea and we had a nice time.”
“...You made the devil tea and had a nice time....” Jules repeats, eyes wide and brows raised. “...okay.”
Tribulation
juliette-athena-delacroix:
“Well I told the devil my secrets and that went well so at least there’s that.” She says with a shrug. The truth as she sees it now is that she’ll always be too much. There won’t ever be a right person, there’ll just be her and her secrets and she’ll just have to live with it. “Maybe I will do a house warming, possible house destruction be damned.”
“Yeah, about that. Are you serious about the devil thing, or do I have to worry about you joining a cult and meeting up with some random muggle who thinks he’s the king of demons?”
Tribulation
juliette-athena-delacroix:
“I’m still pretty fucked up over it. I have nightmares sometimes that wake me up, I have times when I just cry and can’t breathe and I can’t tell him why. Maybe he doesn’t care, but that’s hard for me. And if I’m going to be with someone I can’t hide away most of myself. Plus I don’t want to be with someone who’s hiding most of who they are away from me…” She hadn’t really thought of that, of how many secrets Leo could be keeping. What was the point of being together if they never really knew each other? “It’s fine though, it’s over and it’s fine. And I could invite Lucifer. He’s cool and definitely knows how to party though I’m not sure he won’t wind up as destructive as a Greyback…” Taking a monster of a bite, Juliette speaks again before she’s managed to swallow everything. “You’re lucky. If you end up with Erika she already knows everything, and if you don’t well you don’t mind keeping so much of yourself hidden away. I’d be more jealous if I didn’t have the better hair.” She teases.
“First off, fuck you, my hair is fantastic. Women and men alike weep at it’s glory.” He points a fry in her direction before popping it into his mouth,”And two, your secrets are apart of you. Yes, but how you hold them is different for everyone. Either they give you strength or it’s a test to grow stronger to forget them. For me, it’s been this.” He gestures at a whole of the lavish kitchen, the family in general. “A too tight box of regulations, idiot brothers and the constant eye of the public. I wanted nothing to do with it. Still don’t, and I used my anger and resentment to push myself to do something drastic and dangerous....I realize now, I might be been extreme, but I’ll never really regret it. It was what I needed to make myself. So what if I have secrets? They’re mine and I’ll take them to my fucking grave because I’m a selfish bastard, who hates to share.” He smirks, “-but that’s sort of backfired on me a lot, hasn’t it? So, share if you want lil sis, but if I were you’d I’d do it with someone who’s world view isn’t going to explode if you do. Even my worst secrets are shit compared Erika’s, and we both know it, so while I’m sure if I wanted to spill my guts she’d handle it....but then she might feel like she has to spill back and then it’s just a fucking mess of old history isn’t it? Neither of us are the type for that, but like I said. Some are, and maybe you are. Not a bad thing, but if you want my honest opinion, Leo isn’t the greatest place to start. He’s got just as many secrets as I do.”
Tribulation
juliette-athena-delacroix:
“We’re taking a break.” Juliette admits with trying to skirt out of answering. Anyone else would have gotten a shrug and her leaving. “I’m hiding so much from him. So much of myself and it’s hard. It’s…it’s not really fair to him. But I couldn’t just tell him partially because I know it’s a lot and partially because he’s your friend which means in a way I’m also sharing your secrets which isn’t fair to you.”
“Oh. Is that all?” Jules relaxes, expecting much worse. He goes back to eating his food before realizing that’s probably not the reaction she was expecting. “Look, don’t worry about it. I mean I don’t tell him shit about this stuff either. Why would I? It’s not who I am, and I wanted to forget it so...why bring it up and fuck with him? Not to mention, his work is all about secrets. It’s not like he isn’t used to it, nor is it probably something that’s a big deal to him either.” He takes another bite and chews quickly, practically swallows it down. “With his type of job and life...with our life and history...there is always going to be secrets. Even if you told him the magic shit...then you’ve got to explain what you are, which means explaining our parents. Which means explaining a war and about seven hundred years of blood prejudice and, christ, where does it end? Whats the real point of all that? Are you gearing up to introduce him to the folks and get hitched or something? ‘cus if not,” He takes a sip of his drink, “I’d fucking leave it.I mean, this might be just the international spy in me, but some truths are better left unsaid. Least of all they come back in bite you in the ass. In this case, my ass, because I’m not telling him and if you do, then I’ll have to explain why, and ugh.”
Tribulation
juliette-athena-delacroix:
“Look, I love the Greybacks, they are dear family friends and more so to two of my three brothers. But they destroy things and I need my new flat to last more than a minute. Plus it’d be gross and unfair if one of them got lucky there before I did.” Looking down she pokes at her food and shakes her head, “and Leo wouldn’t want to come.”
Jules is not good at being a sibling. He knows he should probably let this go, if things have gone wrong between his sister and his friend, it’s no business of his. Not that he’s truly concerned. Juliette isn’t some innocent flower that needs to be protected and Leo isn’t a cad. “Look, I’m pretty shit about beating around the bush, so either tell me or don’t, but I’m only going to ask once. What’s up with you two?”
Tribulation
juliette-athena-delacroix:
Juliette snorts, nearly choking on a noodle. “Uh, no. Who would I even invite besides you? Two isn’t exactly a party.”
Jules makes a face at her, narrowing his eyes to slits. “Please. We know people. Greybacks always make for a party.” He says before adding, “-but then again I suppose you don’t want someone making a baby on everything you own...Plus what about Leo. Three is a party.”
Tribulation
juliette-athena-delacroix:
“Pretty close.” She dumps the noodles into the bowl and uses a quick bit of magic to heat the to perfection before sitting next to him. “I think I’ll always be a little stuck in it though,” Juliette admits with a shrug. Some part of her feels like she could run away further than Jules ever did and she still wouldn’t really know what freedom tasted like.
Jules chews thoughtful, but in the end merely shrugs. “It will be awhile, but soon you’ll forget that feeling and when you return, it will feel like you came back, you’ll know for sure.” It happened to him, after all. Even if he did move much move violently and further. “Planning a house party when you’re settled?”
Tribulation
juliette-athena-delacroix:
Juliette is picking up the last of her boxes, though admittedly taking a break to steal some food. Digging through the fridge she finds a box of cold chow mien almost full when she hears her brother come in. “You want some of this?” She asks, shaking the box his way while pulling a bowl from the cupboard with the other hand.
“Nah, I got my mine.” He holds up a take out bag, filled with american-styled burgers. England was great, but sometimes he just craved something utterly terrible and greasy; and since getting the bite, that hunger had tripled into a monstrous need. Hence the three meals within the bag, he sits down at the island and digs into the fries. Dousing them in ketchup and licking the remaining salt off his fingertips. “You almost free from this prison?”

“And if I subject myself to all that can you promise my brother gets home safely first?” Erika questions, throwing a worried glance to the sleeping toddler. “I feel like you must realize by now I’ll do anything to keep him safe.”
“I do.” He nods, not really understanding it -if only because he can’t really seeing feeling that protective about his own brothers (both who would probably feel insulted if he did) but...well he loves Juliette so maybe he can. “With one of my parents sending him back, that’s different and will probably be okay.”

“Yeah, why do you think I didn’t try to burn your stupid labyrinth down? I had no idea what was in place to fuck with my own magic.” Erika states while crossing her arms over her chest. “Study me…that sounds really fun. I mean a total blast absolutely.”
For the first time since meeting her, Jules gives her a real smile. Small as it is, “Nothing extreme. I mean, my father might question you within an inch of your life and make you fill out some sort of questioner -he likes that, paper work and notes- and maybe a small experiment of your power in a safe zone.” He explains.
