We all acquire dirt (and of course germs!) from our everyday activities such as: commuting, using keyboard, utilizing our cell phone, etc. Based on scientific studies, 80% of all infectious diseases are transmitted by touch[1] and frequently practicing simple sanitation habits can diminish the spread of bacteria as well as community-acquired and healthcare-associated infections. Washing your hands can sometimes be a struggle particularly when you’re in a hurry. The most convenient way is to have an on-the-go hand sanitizer kept in your bag.
I am addicted to washing my hands and keeping them clean. In fact, I always buy alcohol or hand sanitizers. It’s a must-have in my grocery list. To all those who are like me, I highly encourage you to try Caronia Hand Sanitizer!

Review
Actually, I am so thrilled to share with you that Caronia extended their product portfolio with effective yet inexpensive hand sanitizers! As a curious, hand cleanser junkie that I am, I’m really excited to give it a try.
I believe that this one set apart itself from other available hand sanitizers out there because of the gentle and relaxing effect it can give you after every application. I even call it: SPAnitizer! Each variant has a different scent perfect for every individual!
Watermelon
This one has a sweet, fruity, and refreshing scent which will energize you with every application
Green Tea
This variant will send you to a relaxing mode with its cool and clean sensation
Lavender
This has also a sweet scent but with a combination of therapeutic feeling
Eucalyptus
The herbal scent soothes and calms the user’s feeling after every use
In addition, it’s in liquid form which I really prefer. It also dries fast when you apply it on your hands. I also love the fact that even though it cleanses my hands, it moisturizes them at the same time. Plus, I love how everyone can use a different variant depending on one’s mood.
Will I repurchase?
This one is sponsored by Caronia but I will definitely purchase after I finish the bottles!
Which scent is more like you? I'd love to hear it!

It’s actually my birthday today. However, I believe that I should be the one to give you a gift.
Looking back, I can say that I was bold enough to face the uncertain and trust God’s process of changing my life from glory to glory. Mind you, it wasn’t an easy task. While it’s true that I want to reach the mountain peaks, I had to prepare for the gritty trails through cliffs and valleys. I had to go through bumpy roads in order to be where I am now. In this post, you will know some of the most important things I learned through the years of my existence. I may still be young but I hope that this post can remind the people who are ‘young once’ and give some words of wisdom to the ‘young ones.’
I learned...
1) …To know my worth and love myself - It took me a long while to love my skin, my body, my mind — my whole being. I used to feel inferior and worthless. However, when I started to know about Jesus, I learned that he was rejected before I was rejected by others. Hey, if Jesus died on the cross for me, then I believe I’m worth something! God revealed to me that there is a good future for the hopeless, a Father to the fatherless, and healing for the broken. My worth depends on how God sees me; no more, no less.
2) …That the things that really matter takes time - Be kind to yourself. Be patient. All of us are getting there - our different goals. Learn how to wait.
3) …To trust God - I used to drive my own life but I kept on faltering every time. I was impatient. Thus, I was not able to experience God’s full blessing. It was when I emptied myself and laid everything to Him when things started to fall on their right places. Dare to trust God. He is faithful to complete His promises to you.
4) …To rise again - Every tunnel has its light at the end; after every storm, a sun will shine and a rainbow will appear. The problems we are facing now are not the end-all and be-all of everything. You can rise from whatever problems are drowning you. As long as God is your fortress, no fear can consume you.
5) …To have a growth mindset - Accept criticisms and acknowledge them constructively. Challenges and failures are opportunities for growth.
6) …To take calculated risks – At some point in my life, especially now that I’m 21, I must take calculated risks. It’s okay to be uncomfortable. There is a chance that we might fail but there’s also a possibility that we won’t. However, if we do fail, just get over it. Move on and be better.
7) …That I cannot just ‘click’ my way to success – We have to develop grit and resilience. We ought to tough it out. In truth, we cannot really take shortcuts in order to achieve our dreams. We have to undergo a process and that’s where much of the learning will happen.
8) …That life networks matter – We have to plug into the right ones. The people who can mold and inspire us to be better. You become a product of who you surround with. Your network is your net worth.
9) …That I don’t have to say “yes” to every opportunity – Success also requires saying “no.” I used to be afraid of saying no because I thought that I might miss more wonderful experiences out there. However, I learned the art of filtering things – from the most important to the least. Some passions cannot help us reach our goals. We have to learn to let go of it. Sure, we can have unlimited rice but we cannot have unlimited yes.
10) …To stand back in order for others to stand out – This one is something that I learned in the years of my leadership. Real leaders let others take the limelight and help them shine. The real role of leaders is to make more leaders.
11) …That it’s not about working hard but working smart – It’s not about the length of time you spend on something but the quality of effort you put in it. It’s best to prepare early to enjoy a piece of zen while everybody else is cramming.
12) …That experience is indeed, the best teacher – This may be cliché but it’s never untrue. So, go. Read the book with an ugly cover, befriend that individual sitting in the farthest corner of the room, and travel the not so fancy road. Taste and experience things.
13) …To be relentlessly curious – A person must seek to constantly learn new things, to relearn things, and unlearn bad habits.
14) …That it’s okay to fail - Everyone, even the prominent and multi-awarded CEOs have stumbling times. Failures are the best form of feedbacks. These are occasions for learning and a chances to revisit one’s strategy.
15) …To be adaptable – To make the most of the situation to my advantage and to see opportunities while others see problems.
16) …To value the gift of time - I rant about not having enough time but it dawned on me that I should only make use of my time better. We all have 84,600 seconds in a day but the ways on how we utilize it differs from one person to another. What we do from 5 PM – 12 AM/Weekends/Time to build ourselves will determine if our progression is linear or exponential. Time is of the essence, so to speak.
17) …To know my authentic why – This served as my motivation to push through even things become difficult and to get up whenever I stumble. Ask yourself this question and find ways on how to answer it.
18) …To fight for what I believe in – A great idea will not sell itself, a game-changing invention will not be noticed if it’s not pitched. I learned to fight for my thoughts, beliefs, and advocacies. Never be afraid of what others would say. Have the courage to share your piece. Who knows? It might change the world.
19) To enjoy the journey - I learned that I must pause, reflect, and take pleasure in the small things. I knew that as long as I work hard with integrity, things will work out.
20) …That no one is fully-prepared – There is no such thing as perfect timing but it’s up to us to make it perfect. Find compliments and know how to trust.
21) …That I am a work in progress - At 21, I am neither considered as a child nor as an old individual. I must be open to new learning and opportunities. I am still a story being written and still a clay in the hands of the Father. I must not be hard on myself.
Here’s to more opportunities to face the unknown, to devour a fresh dawn, to carpe a new Diem! Life is not just meant to be lived. Life is more than just 'not dying.' It’s meant to be seized, to be created and to be celebrated.
xx,
Eunice T.
P.S. This post is inspired by one of the videos of Karlie Kloss, a well-known VS Model
As we walk through this journey, we face stumbling times. There are periods in the lives of believers where they feel unclean through their constant contemplation of their sins and they feel unfit with their relationship with God. This creates distance to the Lord and gives a belief of unworthiness of one’s true calling. This is a complete opposite of what we truly are! We are blood-washed children of God. However, a negative framework called: Shame begins to cloud our minds that we can no longer approach God. Shame averts us from fully experiencing an intimate relationship with God.
What Do We Mean by Guilt and Shame?
Guilt is seeing what you’ve done. It reminds us from our wrongdoings and decisions in the past. It occurs when we recognize our failures. We are talking about false guilt here because true guilt leads us to repentance. A false guilt is a lie that Satan throws at us even if we are already forgiven by God. Conversely, shame is seeing yourself as a failure because of what you’ve done. Guilt is looking at the sin; shame is looking at yourself -- your identity. If an individual permits himself to wallow in guilt, it can become shame. Guilt, if not correctly treated, develops into a stronghold called shame.
God’s Word
In the passage from John 21:15-19 New International Version (NIV), we will see how Jesus Christ restored Peter…
15 When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?”
“Yes, Lord,” he said, “you know that I love you.”
Jesus said, “Feed my lambs.”
16 Again Jesus said, “Simon son of John, do you love me?”
He answered, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.”
Jesus said, “Take care of my sheep.”
17 The third time he said to him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?”
Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, “Do you love me?” He said, “Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you.”
Jesus said, “Feed my sheep. 18 Very truly I tell you, when you were younger you dressed yourself and went where you wanted; but when you are old you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go.” 19 Jesus said this to indicate the kind of death by which Peter would glorify God. Then he said to him, “Follow me!”
To continue the story, we will look into The Book of Luke 22:54-62 New International Version (NIV)…
54 Then seizing him, they led him away and took him into the house of the high priest. Peter followed at a distance. 55 And when some there had kindled a fire in the middle of the courtyard and had sat down together, Peter sat down with them. 56 A servant girl saw him seated there in the firelight. She looked closely at him and said, “This man was with him.”
57 But he denied it. “Woman, I don’t know him,” he said.
58 A little later someone else saw him and said, “You also are one of them.”
“Man, I am not!” Peter replied.
59 About an hour later another asserted, “Certainly this fellow was with him, for he is a Galilean.”
60 Peter replied, “Man, I don’t know what you’re talking about!” Just as he was speaking, the rooster crowed. 61 The Lord turned and looked straight at Peter. Then Peter remembered the word the Lord had spoken to him: “Before the rooster crows today, you will disown me three times.” 62 And he went outside and wept bitterly.
In the first passage (from John), Jesus asked Simon, son of John, (Peter) twice by saying: “Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?” This question is concerning Agape love, which is the highest form of unconditional and self-sacrificing love; the love of God in the renewed mind in manifestation[1]. Simon son of John, answered by saying yes, but he was referring to Phileo love, a Greek word which means love between friends/brothers[2]. However, Jesus asked Simon, son of John, for the third time. “Simon son of John, do you love me?” This time, he was referring to Phileo love. Nevertheless, Simon son of John was hurt. He grieved by the fact that his sincerity was questioned.
In Jesus’ third question, He is manifesting His willingness to accept Simon, son of John’s, or OUR love even if it’s little and even if it’s just a love for a friend. This is how patient, kind, and loving Jesus is. He wants our hearts and He is patiently waiting for us to come to Him.
Jesus keeps on saying the words: “Feed my lambs, Take care of my sheep, and Feed my sheep.” This symbolizes the Lord’s trust to Simon. Even though He knows that Simon will eventually betray Him, He still gives hope to Simon and restores his calling which is to feed His lambs or to take care of the Lord’s children and to spread His Word among nations until his last breath. Just like Simon, we are also given the same trust by God to glorify Him in our lives – a command which we must consider as both an honor and a pleasure.
In the book of Luke, it was evident that he denied Jesus three times. In verse 16, it was said that: “The Lord turned and looked straight at Peter.” It must have been an awkward moment for Peter! Just like when we tend to feel ashamed, we look down. Others even close their eyes, in attempt to forget the uncomfortable situation. However, Jesus looks at Him with a look of love. Those eyes are talking to (Peter and) us, saying: “Chin up, beloved.” While raising our heads and touching our faces, He’s saying that “I’ve already forgiven your sins. Just trust in me. Rest.”
In the same verse, it was said that “Before the rooster crows today, you will disown me three times.” While it’s true that the crow of the rooster fulfilled Jesus’ words, it also served as a sign of a brand new day, a hope given by the Lord to forget our sins and start our life with Jesus.
Ingredients to Avoid Guilt and Shame
1. Truth – We have to accept it. Whenever we are bothered by the lies that we cannot be restored, go to the Father of Truth. Go to Jesus Christ. Go to the Word of God. Remember that sin is the cause of guilt and shame.
Surely it was for my benefit that I suffered such anguish.
In your love you kept me from the pit of destruction. You have put all my sins behind your back. (Isaiah 38:17)
No longer will they teach their neighbor, or say to one another, ‘Know the Lord,’
because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest,”
declares the Lord. “For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.” (Jeremiah 31:34)
You will again have compassion on us; you will tread our sins underfoot and hurl all our iniquities into the depths of the sea. (Micah 7:19)
2. Repent – There are two meanings of repentance. The first one is turning to God and turning back from sins. The second one means a change of mind that we will no longer sin and that we will follow the Lord.
Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord, (Acts 3:19)
3. Faith – We must apply our faith. Walk as free men. Walk as people who will be part of the church. Walk as people who will stand up for God.
How much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our consciences from dead works to worship the living God. (Hebrews 9:14) New English Translation (NET)
Final Thoughts
Jesus meets our guilt and shame with his love and restoration.
How can we be sure? If we look at the cross, it shouts: “I love you and I will restore you.”
Our God is a God that loves and restores. He’s the first One who extends His hands to you, His beloved. The question is... what’s your reply?
In Christ,

Note: Simon, son of John, was renamed by Jesus as Peter. (John 1:42)
It’s August already!!! Time is really moving fast. The question is, are you on track towards your goal of becoming financially independent?
The philosophy of being financially independent, earning one’s own income and sustaining oneself may be a fear-provoking idea to many. However, this post can shed light to the idea of managing an individual’s personal finances. This post consists of the ways on how to manage money effectively, some steps in developing a budget and tips on how to cut unnecessary expenses. On a related note, I learned most of these practical tips in a seminar conducted by Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI), one of the country’s largest banks in terms of assets.
The Difference between Saving and Investing
First of all, let us differentiate the meaning of savings and investing. In simple terms, saving means keeping more of the money you earn while investing means making more with the money you keep.
Savings account is money deposited in a financial institution, like a bank, that produces interest. These accounts are:
· Insured up to P500,000 by the PDIC.
· Liquid-depositors can withdraw money when needed (subject to various limits on different accounts).
· Used by most savers for short-term needs (financial emergencies or medium-term financial goals).
· Earns almost nothing from interest (at 0.5% p.a. compounded quarterly). Time deposits can earn from 2% to 4% p.a. For a minimum deposit of P50,000.
· Savings account opening account is P10,000.
Investment is the ownership of real estate and financial assets. Examples of financial assets are Treasury Bonds, stock certificates, etc.
· When these assets are purchased, risks are assumed in exchange for anticipated returns.
· These assets must mature or be sold to realize returns or capital gains.
Ways on How to Manage Your Money
1. Know what you want to achieve – You need to have a goal in mind. These goals should fall into three categories: a.) Short term Goals – goals within 1 year only, b.) Medium Term Goals – goals for more than a year up to 5 years, and c.) Long Term Goals – goals for more than 5 years.
2. Know where you are now – You need to assess your current financial circumstance. Ask yourself if you are doing smart spending and identify if there are any spending leakages.
3. Know how to budget properly – You need to live within your means and to fight impulse shopping and consumerism in your spending habits.
Steps in Developing a Budget
1. Calculate your monthly income/inflows – Know your personal cash inflows and save before you spend!
2. Track your daily expenses - Gain control of your financial situation. Distinguish where your money goes. It is best to have a notebook for your expenses. Jot down everything you spent money on during a one-week period. Do this daily as if it’s an exercise so that you can form a habit of taking a closer look of your spending pattern.
3. Determine how much you spend on monthly bills - Raise yourself this question: Can I save more electricity by doing appropriate practices?
4. Save at least 10% of your inflows/income every month - You then discover to live on 90% of your income and you can begin by working out a spending plan based on the 90% inflow. You can initiate now by setting aside some money of your income and start building up for your financial goals. In addition, you will eventually come to a point where you can save 20% of your income. Try leveling it up by investing in trust funds, mutual funds, stocks, real estate, etc.
5. Monitor your progress – You will eventually witness if your schemes in developing a budget are effective through evaluation. Look for points where you must improve on and work on it.
Practical Tips in Saving Your Money
After listing down your expenses, deduct something which is not needed.
1. Bring home cooked lunch and snacks to school or work.
2. Try generic brands.
3. Shop when it’s genuine sale items. (Are you really going to use the item regularly for the next 6 months?)
4. Plan gift spending. Try do-it-yourself!
5. Make your own entertainment by taking picnics, strolling around your subdivision, etc.
Final Thoughts
With the latest trends on lifestyle upgrades, life comparison on social media, ever-increasing inflation rates, and other whatnots, it is really difficult to save. However, you should strive hard to save, stretch your peso/dollar value, protect your gains and get out of debts quick and clean. Imagine a life where you can provide from your own resources. Isn’t that promising? Remember to have your goal in mind to be a financially independent individual. I hope that these tips can help you reach that goal.
Thank you for reading! I hope you are enlightened and that you had fun. Do you want me to cover more topics concerning financial stability? Comment here if you do and suggest topics, please?
Singapore is known to be the most flourishing city and the smallest nation concerning the land it covers in Southeast Asia. The tiny island is a favorite of visitors because of the ease of navigation and safety it entails. The accessibility of the country with numerous direct flights to other cities and border crossings to Malaysia and Indonesia is just too alluring for tourists. In addition, the history of the nation from being a tropical backwater into one of Asia’s wealthiest nations is something that people must learn from. This guide consists of notable tips and several activities you must try to have a very memorable experience in SG.
1. Have a ride-all-you-can experience at Universal Studios
This prominent theme park is divided into seven marvelous “worlds.” It has a blend of attraction suitable for all ages. Even the adults will have a feeling of nostalgia in each of the rides. For singing and dancing, the Sesame Street Show in Hollywood is scheduled in the Elmo’s TV Time. There’s also an amazing 4D (Full Ride) in Far Far Away, a heart-pounding experience is in store for everyone at the Canopy Flyer and Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure in The Lost World. From roller coasters to 3D thrill rides, just name it and USS has it. If I am asked concerning my favorite attraction, I will definitely say it’s the Transformers the Ride! Typical scenes include well-known Autobots and Decepticons battle in front of screens but in this particular ride, the visitors are part of the story with rapid chases and almost real fight scenes because of the 3D glasses worn by the tourists.
2. Stroll around Gardens by the Bay
This nature park with an extensiveness of 101 hectares of reclaimed land in the Central Region of Singapore consists of futuristic botanical gardens with various flowers, trees and biodomes.
It houses two cooled conservatories which are: the Flower Dome and the Cloud Forest Dome. The Flower dome is known as the world’s largest columnless glasshouse. On the other hand, the Cloud Forest Dome has a beautiful waterfall cascades from a 35m mountain. The said cloud mountain is clad in orchids, ferns and mosses. Rising above the gardens are 18 Supertrees that resembles that of Avatar’s especially when they are lighted. This place is perfect for the young ones and even the young once! In addition, Gardens organized exciting upcoming events for this year! Click here to know more about it. We are so blessed to go to the area during the annual cherry blossom display. Truly, there are so many Instagram opportunities in this wonderland! Don’t miss it out!
According to Straits Times, the S.E.A. Aquarium holds the record of being the world’s largest aquarium. It consists of 49 marine habitats and 100,000 sea animals. The entrance will lead you to the shark tunnel with various sharks swimming around. From there, you can watch clown fishes and find Nemo at the Bay of Bengal. Wander at the Ocean Journey and see the colorful jellyfishes and don’t ever miss the second underwater tunnel with the shipwreck as display and school of fishes swimming inside and outside of it.
4. Visit museums like Madame Tussauds Wax House and Trick Eye
The Madame Tussauds is the first Madame Tussauds in the world with a boat ride and where actors lead a show. If I am asked what my favorite activity is then I would say that it is the Singapore LIVE. Before going to Madame Tussauds, one must see the live show first since it is a bundle. What separates this show is that actresses and actors would entertain the visitors with lighting and sound effects while letting them learn about Singapore’s 200 years of history. The actors want it to be participative so they really talk to the visitors while acting. The experience is truly one for the books! After that, visitors must board The Spirit of Singapore Boat Ride which showed the summary of the show while displaying SG’s prominent landmarks. At the end of the boat ride, the visitors can finally enjoy taking selfies at the Madame Tussauds Museum with life-size wax figurines of famous people with categories such as: World Leaders, Sports, Film, A-List, IIFA Award Experience, Music, and the Marvel 4D Experience.
On a related note, the Trick Eye Museum is also a must-visit! We unleashed our creative side in taking the photos! We crawled in the exhibits, interacted with the displays and posed as subjects of the artworks. It has more than 80 optical illusion paintings and installations that will surely mesmerize the visitors. They also have their own app where VR scenes are exclusive.
5. Wander around Chinatown
The heart of Singapore’s Chinese heritage exhibits Chinatown’s rich times of yore. It also houses the oldest Hindu temple in SG: The Sri Mariamman Temple. Popular hawker stalls line the streets. The stalls can also be seen at the Chinatown Complex. There are lots of scrumptious Bak Kwas sold in the area (Try Lim Chee Guan’s). Also, the world-famous, mouth-watering and affordable Mingo Hawker Pack Ice Cream Sandwich is also located in the place. Strolling here relives Singapore’s past whilst showing the country’s marvelous progress.
6. Stroll around the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and Museum
A five-storey temple which is also located at Chinatown, is where Buddha’s left canine believed to inhabit in solid gold stupa. The tooth was said to be recovered from his funeral pyre in Kushinagar, India. The temple was newly built in 2007 yet the majestic interiors and wide-ranging exhibits tell a century-old story to its visitors. Admission to the temple and weekly-guided tours are for free. The temple’s volunteer guides conduct the said tours which last for 2 hours. Note: The temple is considered to be a sacred place so wearing short skirts is prohibited in the area. However, they have cloths to cover those who still do.
7. Fill your stomachs at Hawker Centres and Michelin-Star Restos
What’s a trip without any food tasting, right? Visit Singapore’s most famous food center: Newton Food Centre. This is the only complete Singapore food center offering a one-stop diverse mix of street side foods from Chinese, Malay and Indian hawkers. Their chicken rice and laksa are my recommended foodies. Yum! In addition, there are numerous Michelin-starred restaurants in SG! One of those is the Crystal Jade Golden Palace. Their authentic Chinese meals and Dimsum are to die for. Not to mention their excellent service, and attentive staffs.
8. Shop at their malls (Orchard, Marina Square Shopping Mall, Vivo City, etc.)
Singapore is distinguished for having some of the best shopping malls in Asia. The shopping hub of the country: Orchard Road features a lot of high-end shopping malls where visitors can indulge with vast choices of items having quality. Various malls focuses on different visitors’ preferences may it be high-street fashion, haute couture, reasonably priced apparel, etc.
Tips:
1. Take a map in every attraction when it’s available. For instance, Universal Studios and Sentosa Island have that. This is very useful for visitors in order to navigate the vast area and enjoy all the places you visit to the fullest!
2. If you really want to try Transformers the Ride, I suggest that you go there in the afternoon because it is expected to have longer lines in the morning.
3. If it’s your first time, it’s best to have a train station map (or an image saved on your phone) in order to avoid getting lost. SG is so easy to navigate especially when you have the train station map.
4. Be early in eating at hawkers. A lot of people gather in these areas (especially the ones that are near offices) to the extent that there are no available chairs even for one person.
5. Bring tissue! Food stores in SG don’t give free tissue to customers unlike in other countries. To save some dimes, you are advised to bring your own. You can also use it as a way of doing CHOPE \chōp\ a transitive verb (Singapore slang) which means to reserve a seat. (However, please remember to share a seat to the ones who need it especially the senior citizens)
6. Make sure you have a lot of energy throughout the day. Expect a lot of walking!
Giving presents and wrapping them does not have to be expensive. Utilizing old maps, yellow or white pages won’t cost you a dime! Most importantly, you can help mother earth through upcycling! Not to mention the fact that you really exert effort in making and wrapping your gift which is extra special. Now, that’s hitting two (or should I say, three?) birds with one stone.
Just to give you a background concerning upcycling...
Based on Cambridge Dictionary, it means “the activity of making new furniture, objects, etc. out of old or used things or waste material”
Here are the materials you will need:
Note: All of these materials are used already. The special paper I used are scraps from my cousin’s project. I just kept them.
After wrapping the gift using the old map, you can wrap it again with the special paper and then tie it with a ribbon!
What a cute bow!
Tip: If you are giving the gift to someone who loves to travel overseas, you may use your old world map. In fact, I used the map of Vietnam in this sample since I am giving this to my friend who loves to visit the said country. I believe that would be more special.
Another tip: You can also write your tags/message using recycled/scratch paper. I used an old calendar for the tag and I punched a hole at the top.
With the second gift, I used an old white page and an old ribbon.
Final Thoughts
I thought of this simple project because let’s admit it. When we give presents, the gift wrappers are just another expense but the recipients will most likely tear them. These will turn into wastes which are detrimental to earth. You can lessen the carbon footprint by upcycling these old materials and by turning them to cute and heartwarming gifts. Plus, you can learn a new skill and have more bonding times with your family and friends! I hope that you can try this activity. If you do, please reply in this post or share your work! I would love to see them!
I’ve said in the past that one of my missions in doing this blog is to share my little yet growing knowledge in career and finance. The reason behind this mission is that I want others to grow in terms of financial wellness and stability. This infographic shows the ways on how to achieve financial freedom - a life free from debt, unnecessary expenses, and worries about money.
First of all, you have to make more money. If your allowance or salary is not enough for your daily needs, then you have to make a way in order to save more and to avoid debts. You can have a part-time job or have a business. These activities do not mean spending a lot. In fact, there are many jobs available online. Here is a list of side-hustles you can do:
1. Become an event’s host
2. Be a part-time insurance or real-estate broker.
3. Be a Makeup Artist for all occasions
4. Try Freelance Writing Online
5. Become an English as Second Language (ESL) Teacher
6. Be a partner Grab driver.
7. Become a tutor.
You can make use of your skills/talents. Market what you know and get paid for it.
In addition, here is a list of business that can help you acquire money:
1. Have an online shop (fashion, general merchandise, technology, beauty, etc.).
2. Earn through passive income such as rentals!
3. Put up a sari-sari store.
4. Open a canteen near a school or somewhere that has foot traffic.
5. Have a perfume business.
6. Have a Printing, Photocopy and/or ID Picture business
7. Put up a loading business
8. Sell baon or lunch at work.
The extra money you will gather from these ventures will not only boost your savings but give you more money for your investments and more capital to pursue your other passion projects.
Secondly, manage your cash flow. You have to check and monitor where your money is going. Find a way to reduce your expenses. Remember the rule: Earnings – Savings = Expenses. Determine how much you spend on monthly basis. The goal is to have monthly savings.
Thirdly, you have to protect your assets. Yes, you are insuring your car and your house. However, you must remember that you are your greatest asset so you have to insure yourself. You may avail insurance services in various companies such as Sunlife, PruLife UK, etc.
Fourthly, save and invest! You should not work for money. Let money work for you. You can do this through investment and having a business. Don't just save, you also have to invest. When you save, you keep that money you earn, but when you invest, you grow the money you keep.
In addition, you ought to reinvest your savings. This step is where people usually fail. Always use time to your advantage. You can do this by investing as early as now! Also, do not withdraw your earnings immediately. Regularly invest and take into heart the power of compound interest.
Last but not the least, remember to always give back. God wants to bless us for us to have enough for ourselves. In this way, we can stretch our arms to the needy and bless them, too. Donate your old clothes or give your tithes and offerings to church. There are many ways on how to help others just as God helped you to face your struggles. Once you begin giving and helping other people, the blessings that you will receive will never end.

The product claims to have numerous miracles such as: it lessens the manifestation of skin impurities like dark spots, pimple marks and dark underarms and it also aids relieve irritated skin. You can save money in such a way that you don’t even have to buy a lotion or a makeup remover since the product can serve as a substitute. Review
For someone who has oily and acne-prone skin, I was hesitant to try oil on my face but I badly needed a moisturizer. I took a risk then tried the product. I applied it overnight and when I woke up in the morning, I was surprised that my skin feels softer and smoother. I also have to note the fact that it was not greasy. I also noticed how my some of my pimples dried up. I also applied it on my underarms, elbows, and knees in order for it to brighten. Upon observation, I saw how I had a lighter tone on those parts compared to before. As a makeup remover, moisturizer, deodorant, and hair shine, I can say that it is really effective! I love how it is made from 100% sunflower seed oil since I really treat my face with natural products only.
Conversely, I do not like how the beauty oil smells (Maybe, it’s just me?) It is not stinky. In fact, the smell is tolerable. I just wished that the scent is odorless if it’s not fragrant. In terms of its claims on the diminishing of dark spots’ appearance, I can say that it is ineffective for me. The dark spots are still visible but I will still wait for further results and update you all about it.
When my family decided to go to Baguio, we searched for restaurant recommendations in various websites and our trusted bloggers.
One of the top restaurants that they often suggest was Forest House Bistro & Cafe.
We planned to eat there for dinner after our errands at Camp John Hay. There was a limited parking and the restaurant was crowded. Fortunately, we had a opportunity to have a seat and then we ordered our meals. We were settled at the outside table where we can see the beautiful city lights. The only drawback is that it is a bit chilly and we are situated near the flower pots. Lo and behold, there were bugs on the leaves! Though insects flying around is an external factor, I just hoped that they did something about it.
Food, Service and Interior for the Heart and Soul
I diverted my attention to the interiors of the place. There were lots of ferns and orchids on display. The area is filled with rustic country decors giving it a relaxed homey atmosphere and what I love the most are their high ceilings and unique chandeliers. The design matched well with the ambiance. The attention to detail is impeccable. Their service was excellent with a very knowledgeable and accommodating server. We enjoyed our hearty meals. Because of the cold breeze, we ordered a hot, creamy Forest House Bouillabaisse (P 110), Spaghetti and Meatballs (P 275.00), Beef Tenderloin with Sweet Peas in Ginger Spice (P 395.00) and their Forest House Wine Sauced Chicken (P 295.00) (plus their 10% service charge). The flavor was spot on and delicious. In addition, their food comes with an inspiring quotation to nourish one's soul. It is definitely worth the price!
My family is a dog lover. We adopted two dogs from our neighbor and we treat them well. We play with them and I talk to them when I feel depressed. For some reason, I feel like I am emotionally attached to them and they understand me. Truly, a dog is a man’s best friend. While checking my Facebook account, I saw a suggested post about a certain dog cafe right across McDonald’s on the side street perpendicular to Katipunan.
My sister, cousin, and I decided to visit there. Little did I know, it will be one of the most memorable days of my life! The first step is to go to the Barkin’ Blends cafe also known as the “human zone” where you buy your tickets and order your drinks. You have to pay PHP 190 which gives you single entry access to the Dog Zone. This fee includes 1 drink (milk tea, fruit tea, traditional tea or coffee). For your doggie playtime, one ticket is equivalent to 2 hours in the Dog Zone. They provide lockers where you are required to place all your belongings, slippers to change into and hand sanitizer to clean up your hands.
Meeting with the Furry Friends
There were several people in the area. Some were playing with the dogs and some were chatting with each other while taking a sip of their drinks. When I sat on the floor, a Jack Russell with a wagging tail came to me. Her name is Julia (I learned this based on the poster) and I scooped her using my arms and cuddled with her. It took all of my willpower to resist taking her home with me. She is so cute and cuddly! Another dog came to me, he crawled on my lap. He is a Yorkshire Terrier named, Milo. He was sleepy so I let him sleep on my legs while I posed in an Indian sit position. Andrei, a Shih Tzu sniffed my shirt. And he licked my arms. I stroked his fur and did the belly rub until he fell asleep. I cannot fathom how happy I am while playing and petting the doggies. I played with almost all the dogs except the ones who are sleeping. The area is air-conditioned so I do not blame the dogs for being groggy. I guess some are tired of playing with the people, too.
Arrf-some Experience
Before we leave, we had a photo opportunity with their big, cross-bred Labrador Retriever and Golden Retrievers named Marley, Finn, Robin and Piolo. All in all, I can stay that the experience is remarkable! This is a great treat for dog lovers and those who are not allowed to own one for some reason. It took all of my willpower to resist taking them home with me. Their Milk Tea is delicious, too! It’ a perfect blend of joy with the dogs and yummy drink. They really lived up to their brand name.
As a Harry Potter (HP) series fan, I have always dreamed of going to London or Japan to see the Hogwarts and have a taste of the butterbeer.
Good thing, someone casted a spell and The Nook magically appeared in Quezon City! My fellow Potterheads (my sister, cousin and I) went to Maginhawa for this HP-themed cafe.
We went there on a holiday so as expected, the line was long. How I wish I can use the Alohomora spell to unlock the doors. We had to wait to get our hands with the talk of the town: (nonalcoholic) Harry Potter Butterbeer. When it was our turn, I hopped on the broomstick and dashed to the place in a snap. The first level features a cupboard under the staircase just like Harry’s room in Privet Drive. Dobby, the house elf, was placed inside together with acceptance letters to Hogwarts. We ordered Hagrid’s Cup (Butterbeer) for 150 PHP, Golden Snitch Chocolate Truffle for 35 PHP, and Chocolate Cauldron Cupcake for 95 PHP. Their food was a delight. I believe that even the trio: Hermione, Ron and Harry would approve.
PLATFORM 9 ¾
In the movie, the platform 9 ¾ is the secret passageway of the wizards and witches to Hogwarts. In this cafe, it is their stairway to the second level where it's filled with mementos from the series, books, and other cool merchandise such as the pentagonal chocolate frog, Bertie Bott’s every Flavor Beans, books. etc. One of the most amazing experiences here is to make yourself an instant Hogwarts student wherein you can wear the robes of various houses. Just present your ID to rent the costumes and wands. I chose Hermione Granger’s, of course!

WHERE THE REAL MAGIC HAPPENS
Now, to rephrase what Albus Dumbledore said in the series, “Happiness can be found in the darkest of times… if one knows where to find the best cup of butterbeer!” Spending an afternoon in The Nook Café brought us into the magical world of Harry Potter. My inner fan girl did cartwheels. I would abso-bloody-lutely come back! Muggles, half-bloods and purebloods are welcome the place. I would bring my family and friends here again. After all, I would not enjoy the place without them because the real magic happens when I spend my time with them. Yup, not even Voldemort can stop us!
The expedition to Ben Cab Museum was laborious. It was far from our hotel. Travel time to this place is around 20 minutes from the Baguio City town proper. However, all the painstaking efforts were paid off when we stepped into the museum. I had an entrance fee of 80 Pesos because I am still a student while my adult companions paid 100 Pesos. It is a lovely, spacious and well lit place! The artworks displayed are mostly by national artist, Ben Cabrera.
HOUSE OF AUTHENTIC, OLD BAGUIO
The art collections are placed in a four-level building. One must have to go down to explore the entire museum. On the first level, there is a Sepia Gallery that houses Philippine Bamboo Art and a museum shop. The second level features BenCab's own works, his bulol also known as “Ifugao rice god” collection and the main Indigo Gallery featuring various renowned artists. The Cordillera Gallery features collection of the different artifacts of the Cordillera Culture. The Level 3 contains BenCab's own collection of Philippine Contemporary Art (sculpture, mixed media painting, etc). and masterpieces of the maestros of art in the country.
I love how there was a terrace where you can see the majestic view of the garden and forest. The lowest level is where the garden and Cafe Sabel is located. The cafe features family recipes made from the fresh ingredients of their own garden. After lunch, you can opt to go on an eco-trail hike around the garden and the forest in front of the museum. You can also harvest strawberries from their strawberry field. The house of Ben Cab is 15 minutes away from the museum but you have to arrange for a guide to pass through the restricted areas.
A PLACE TO BE
Overall, it is a highly recommended experience. Even people who are not that interested in art would be enthralled in this place. You should not miss visiting the BenCab Museum when you go up to Baguio. The BenCab Museum is open daily except Mondays, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day from 9:00am to 6:00pm (Note: the last entry is at 5:30pm).
Hi! I am Eunice, a 20 year old blogger from Manila. I’m a Marketing Management graduate in University of Santo Tomas.
I registered to Tumblr last June 2010 as inhaleloveandexhalehate.tumblr.com but I decided to deactivate my blog because of my busy schedule in school (academics and extra-curricular activities). I started blogging again last July 11, 2018 but with a different username (the-free-bluestocking).
I don’t see myself as a young when it comes to serving God but I believe that age doesn't matter when it comes to giving honor to the Lord. I am passionate about everything connected to Him (missions, praise and worship and sharing His words to the people).
I delight in the sight of stars, taste of warm chocolate, smell of freshly-picked roses, scent of laundromats and petrichor, books with its timeless stories and great patience, adventures, long walks, movie marathon, art, poems, giving advice, laughter, nature and the rest of the beauty that God has created on this unique canvas called earth. I love my family so much! They are God’s greatest blessing to me! I collect moments through photographs. Cooking delicious meals, baking cupcakes and other sweet treats are some of my passions.
I am facing different challenges and depression in life but I know that what I’m feeling are just empty threats. My God is still more than able. He is my map, compass and staff whenever I’m lost. I want to be his arms and feet to remind others of what he had done for us―His children. Get to know me more by reading all my posts and/or by following me!
The blog
It is entitled the-free-bluestocking because I want to treat my blog as an online diary where I am FREE to express my deepest thoughts and opinions concerning anything under the sun. In addition, BLUESTOCKING means “a woman having intellectual or literary interests.” This is something that would describe me in one word. It’s the brand positioning which I want my readers to remember.
The reasons why I made this blog are the following: 1) I want to share God’s Word, 2) I want to spread awareness on the Earth’s current state and the ways on how to heal it through zero-waste living, 3) I want others to grow financially and intellectually, 4) I want people to know that everyone is beautiful! I want to echo my belief that from our body shapes to our hearts and souls, we are enough. Lastly, 5) I want to share to my readers that like others, I also have struggles but hey! they are just seasonal! After the storm, a rainbow will soon appear and the sun will show. At the end of the dark tunnel, a light is shining. We will all finish the race as a winner (and by that I mean, that we will always build better version of ourselves after the obstacles we faced).

I just want to share a story concerning my love for calligraphy...
I won the “best penmanship award“ when I was in my elementary years. After that small triumph, I started to practice scribbling and drawing my adventures on various journals I kept. Whenever I hold the pen and begin to write quotes or bible verses, I feel the rush of euphoria running through my veins. From then on, I knew how much I love words and the art of writing them beautifully: calligraphy. Our school was really austere when it comes to cursive writing and we had to practice on our writing books and penmanship notebooks in order to have a complete grade every quarter. We had no choice. We had to really take it seriously. My classmates detested such idea but I loved it. I knew it will benefit us in the future. However, I stopped my practice sessions and traded it for learning other things such as expanding my knowledge on vocabulary words, by reading history books and the list goes on. To sum it up: I disregarded my passion in decorative handwriting. It didn't abscond. It just slept. It lied dominant. It was just this 2015, when my love for handwritten lettering was reinforced. I must admit that I am not a professional on this but I keep on working on it until now. On a lighter note, I have a plan on continuing this since I use it for the glory of God. I use my works with captions of revelations of God to me. I will also use it for my future business such as writing for invitation cards, maps, post cards or other decorations.
Final Thoughts
I personally believe that we all have talents. We just need to feel that spark. We just need to feel the burning passion and then pursue it. Let us use our talents for God’s glory and honor.
