Text To: Dr Love[Hey, darlin… Been thinking about you. About that moment we had in the GCPD]
“At least I have a heart…” he breathed a sigh of relief, hanging his head. “Can’t say the same for my brain.” Jerome grinned, tapping his head. He grabbed her hands again, and met her eyes. “Thank you, Lee. I mean it.”
Lee smiles at the thought. Of course you have a heart, but to hear that you’re spending your time to help kids while hiding out just makes it that much bigger. She furrows her brows as you hang your head and begins to protest as you put yourself down. She’s caught off guard when you grab her hands. She stares into your eyes and smiles. “It was my pleasure.” She bites her bottom lip and pulls her hands away, placing them on your face to cup your cheeks. “You do have a brain. You’re intelligent, Jerome. Don’t forget that.”
He closed his eyes, leaning into her touch, the feel of her soft, warm hands. “I’ll try not too, Doc.” he replied, standing up, and grinning down at her. “Bet this wasn’t what you were expecting, was it?”
Lee smiles and gently rubs your cheek. She removes her hands as you stand up. Her eyes, now trained on your chest, move up to lock eyes with you. She chuckles. “Not what I was expecting at all, but definitely not bad.” She focuses on her breathing. She’s never paid attention to just how attractive you are, well not that much attention.
His own hands reach up to cup her face, and he presses his forehead to hers, before giving her a sweet kiss. He pulled away, anxiously looking for her reaction. “I’m hoping it gets better…”
Lee grins softly as your forehead is pressed to hers. The kiss is far more gentle than she expected it to be. Her hands slide up your arms to rest on your shoulders. She sighs breathlessly into your mouth. She almost whines when you break the kiss but decides to keep her neediness buried for a little longer.
She slides a hand up to rest at the nape of your neck, gently caressing your hair. “I’m with you. Of course it’s going to get better.”
He grins at that, and he kisses her again, much more exited this time, one of his arms dropping to wrap around her waist, pulling her closer. “I like that sentiment…” he murmured into the kiss, getting lost in her scent.
Lee’s smile widens as you lean back in to kiss her. She kisses you softly at first before it becomes heated, her obvious desire coming to the forefront. She moans and loops her arms around the back of your neck as she is pulled in closer. “Mmm, I like the way you taste.” She giggles into your mouth.
Jerome kisses her deeply, chuckling. “Well, thanks…” he pushes her down to the bed, crawling over her with a predatory grin. “God, you’re gorgeous…” he whispered, mostly to himself.
Lee moans into the kiss before crying out with a sharp surprised giggle as she is pushed down onto the bed. She looks up in time to see you crawling over her body. She spreads her legs and pushes her chest up against you. A smirk tugs on her face at the compliment. “Look who’s talking.” She wraps an arm around your shoulders and leans up to kiss you.
Jerome kisses her back, not even remotely worried about his scars in the moment, one of his hands running up and down her side, fingers brushing the fabric. “You think I’m pretty, huh?” he murmurs.
Lee hums as your fingers trace along her sides. She feels herself heating up at the question but when she chances a glance at you, she turns bright red. She chews nervously on her bottom lip before nodding in affirmation. “I’ve always thought you were pretty. You’re just a real pretty person.”

“Funny boy… I like that. Your fingers are softer than I would have expected, as well.” He says, gently taking her hand in his. “I just assumed doctors had gross hands… I should have known better.”
“You like that, huh?” Lee giggles. She smiles softly at the kind gesture and takes the chance to intertwine her fingers with yours. It has her heart pounding in her chest. She shakes her head lightly. “You say that like I’ve never touched you before.”
“Well… I was a little preoccupied with threatening to kill you, I didn’t really have time to soak up the details.” he gently tugged her, flicking his cigarette away, as he began to walk her back to his apartment.
Lee flushes with embarrassment at this point. She has no time to react to it as she is being tugged along. Once the cigarette is discarded on the ground, her curiosity gets the best of her. “Since when do you smoke?”
“Well, knives and bullets can’t kill me, a cigarette here and there won’t do shit.” he chuckled, shaking his head.
“It keeps me semi sane. I have something else to focus on, other than everyone I hate.”
“I guess we all have our vices.” Lee replies as she holds a little tighter to your hand. “I just never took you for a smoker.”
“My brother is a drinker. So. I dunno. What are your vices? Meeting someone who has tried to kill you, in the middle of the night, going to their house to fuck?” Jerome asked, giving Lee a look.
Lee widens her eyes at you but there is still a playful smirk on her face. “Well, I guess you have a point there. Smoking would probably be my best bet, huh?” She laughs. “Besides, you have not tried to kill me. If you really wanted me dead, I would have been dead a long time ago.”
“True. Or not. You never know. Look how many times I’ve tried to kill Bruce. Little twerp is still kicking.” he laughed, swinging their arms a little as the neared his building. “So, what have you been up to, lately?”
Lee hadn’t really thought of it that way. You have fought and clawed to kill Bruce Wayne, yet he is still alive. Maybe she has been wrong this whole time, thinking you were just toying with her. That laugh. How could something be so nerve wracking and pleasant all at the same time? She notes the way you’re swinging their joined arms. It’s cute. “Me? Oh. Same old, same old. I’ve been hiding out here for a while. I wanted to make my own path without Jim knowing my whereabouts. I sort of run the narrows now. Of course, he eventually found me out. Damn good detective, I’ll give him that.”
“Well, for maximum privacy in hiding, I suggest dying.” he nodded, before chuckling again, and pulling his hand away from her to unlock the apartment building. “Home grungy home…” he muttered, opening the door for her.
“You mean to tell me you got privacy when you were dead?” Lee jokes as she steps inside. She looks around. “This isn’t so bad. Have you been here the whole time?”
“Not the whole time. But for the most part, yeah. It’s the only place that let me in the door.” he says, taking her hand again, and leading her up the stairs. “As for being dead, yeah. No one thought I would have made it back from the second time. Bullet wounds, shattered spine, legs and arms, internal bleeding…”
“Leave it to the narrows to let just about anybody waltz right in, cops are really the only exception.” Lee grins as you take her hand. She squeezes, letting you know she’s joking around, as she follows you upstairs. “So, Wait. What part was real?”
“What do you mean? All of it was real. I fell, that’s the last thing I remember. Well, before waking up in Dr. Stranges room.” he said, looking back at her with a grin.
Lee furrows her brows and tugs on your arm to stop you. “Wait, that’s-that’s.” She swallows. “Those injuries, you were eviscarated. You had a full autopsy. The GCPD kept your brain. You’re telling me that was really you? How is that possible?”
“That’s what I asked. The little bald man wouldn’t tell me shit. Even with a knife to his throat.” he stops, leaning against the wall, cocking his head at her concern. “Is there something I’m missing? Like… How bad was it?”
Lee stares at you in stunned disbelief. She’s finding it hard to believe that you’re even standing before her right now. “Bad, Jerome. It was real bad.” She walks over and leans beside you against the wall. “I wasn’t there when you died. I didn’t do your autopsy. I was arrested the day after you were buried. It’s a long story but your followers caused a big scene at the GCPD. I read the report. Jim shot you three times, one of which would have been fatal even if you didn’t fall. The bullet severed your aorta artery. That’s a main artery. You bled out when you hit the car. You would have bled out on that roof.”
She sighs. “Nearly every bone in your body shattered. The autopsy was a full autopsy. The GCPD wanted to make sure you never came back. They removed and kept all of your organs. You weren’t an organ donor. During a standard autopsy, your organs are removed and dissected but they are supposed to go back in the body. The only thing that is technically removed is the draining of blood. That remains out of the body. I just don’t understand how Dr. Strange would have been able to place your organs back and fix your skeletal system.”
She’s obviously worried. “Have you felt okay?”
He listens to her, and his face goes pale, and he pulls his hood back. “I should be dead, dead, then.” he mumbled, rubbing his face. He knew it was bad, but no one would tell him how bad.
“For the most part, yeah. I didn’t remember anything when I woke up. Who I was, who anyone was. It was… Different than the first time. But, I’m fine.” he said, thinking over the past few weeks. “I have this, though.” he said, pulling his shirt up, and showing her his Y-shaped scar on his chest.
Lee doesn’t like the unnaturally pale look that takes over your face. She hooks her arm with yours, just in case. “Yeah, by all intents and purposes, you should.” She listens carefully. She knows logically that your brain definitely has to be in your head. You’re walking, talking, etc. Your heart and lungs must be inside your body as well. She’s just confused. She wants to do a full checkup on you if she’s being honest. Her eyes scan to your chest and she stares at the scarring. “Could I?” She has to feel for a heartbeat. She has to.
He nods, dropping his shirt. “Yeah. I’ve got a medical bag in my room.” he said, his voice higher than usual as he opened his door, looking around before entering. He was honestly terrified of what, or wouldn’t find. He pulls a large duffel bag out, and sits it on the bed next to him, a red cross on the side of it.
“Thank you.”
“A medical bag, huh? Look at you moving up in the world, Valeska.” Lee chuckles, trying to lighten the situation. Your voice has been gravelly and deep since your first death. The raised voice is definitely an indicator of panic and fear. She steps inside and places her bag down, shrugging her coat off as she looks around. She walks over to the bed and offers a warm smile. “Don’t mention it. It’s my job.” She opens the bag and rummages through it. It’s pretty well stocked. She glances back at you. “You’re welcome. Now let’s listen to you.”
Jerome smiled at her joke, giving a small shrug. “I’ve been learning how to use some of the stuff. Helping kids and stuff.” he said, watching her go through the bag..
He tugged his shirt off, tossing is behind him, and he sucked in a breath as the cool metal touched his skin. “Heh. What’s up, Doc?” he asked, using a joke to cover up how scared he was.
“Helping kids?” Lee questions as she puts the stethoscope in her ears and presses the metal to your chest. She gasps lightly and apologizes, forgetting to warn you about the coolness of the metal. She giggles at the joke. “Cute, Bugs now hush it carrot top.” She places her hand on your back. “Just breathe normally, okay?”
“Yeah, they don’t really have parents to take care of them, so. I reset a bone yesterday. That was… Scary to say the least.” he said, chuckling.
He nodded, focusing on breathing, closing his eyes as he felt his chest fall and rise.
“Nothing like hearing the sound of the bone popping back into place is there?” Lee listens. “Well, your lungs are in there. They sound good. Maybe a little rattled, but good. Your heart sounds okay.” She’s still concerned. It doesn’t make sense and she’s going to let it go for now. She’ll have a conversation with Strange and figure this out.
