[in writing:] Hello bugs of pharloom and beyond, apologies if you are intimidated by my appearance, I am Largy, a, what I believe you call skull brute, though without a skull of my own I suppose I would just be called a brute. though I do have a brass shell so I suppose that would make me a brass brute...interesting...
finally doing the intro post for this guy, at least now that it knows how to write coherently with its mechanical arms.
welcome in a skull brute, a little smarter than the rest of its kin as evident by the fact it knows how to write. this one stemmed from a wish Gaijen did where they chased this guy down from stealing a cart. now does it have a confirmed kill count? yes. are we going to ignore that? also yes.
this is what it looks like normally, the shell is a little large, but this does mean it can hide up in the top. the shell is fully air conditioned and has multiple mechanical arms, not to mention the cloth on the bottom cannot get dirty (due to a repel-physical-matter rune combination) and a loft where it stores most of its supplies. (and snacks.)
this is my first semi-normal blog, and it uses IT/ITS exclusively, this is relevant to the lore.
oh yeah, I almost forgot to mention, the shell can camouflage.
here's what it would look like if it were to camouflage within the coral tower, it would be mid-transformation as the brass is still visible, but it pulls in the light from materials around it and uses the cloth to detect things, synthesizing them and essentially creating illusory light projections akin to mirages, making the shell blend in to the background of wherever it is.
and one last thing, this being a skull brute, all its attacks deal 2 damage, save for anything augmented by the shell, is that overpowered? the game doesn't seem to think so, but all 2 damage attacks will run on a d10, and the brute will have 4 masks.
Peam wakes up in Largy's shell, then peeks out and asks Hermes: "Are we there yet? I'm bored. Mama's impatient. I need to find her."
She gives big eyes to the beetle.

While Peam was taking a nap, the group was able to get further into town. There's a nice clearing with cloths and drapes hanging from posts and carpets covering the sandy floor. Moths are chatting with each other and trading with other citizens of Chalcedony.
"Oh hey, I was just about to wake you up. Welcome to the moth commune! Let me go see if my grosseltern are around... They'll probably be easy to see if my dad's here." Hermes says. They put a hand above his mask to take a look around.
*Largy, who had been gazing around at everything, taking in all the colors and sights and smells, even some compliments from the moths on its shell, trills in agreement, writing peam a note with slightly larger font to read with tired eyes*
Aren't they all wonderful? Every individual is so unique...you're still one of the prettiest pebble Moth-lookalikes here though.
"Ah yes, over there." They point near the back towards a large beetle that resembles Hermes.
"There's my dad. I think he's with his Eltern. Come on, let's go say high!" He hauls their cart across the lot towards the back.
They approach and see that yes, two moths are next to the beetle.
"What in the... Hermes, it's been some time. What brings my little Coleoptera to Chalcedony?" He asks.
"Hey Dad, I thought it would be a good idea to see you. I have some friends with me here. Peam and Largy. We were headed in about the same direction, but I don't actually know the way to Hallownest as that is their destination." Hermes explains.
"Oh, how thoughtful that you wanted your Oma and Opa to help you." One of the moths answer, hearing the conversation. Ironically, she seems to be of a similar colour to her adopted son.
"Hi miss Oma and mister Opa! I'm Peam! I need to travel to Hallownest to meet with my mama. Do you know the way to Hallownest?"
Peam makes big eyes as she talked. She hadn't met that many moths, and especially not any as wrinkly as these two. But they seemed nice, so she trusted them.
"Yeah! I control time! If I want to, of course. It would suck if I couldn't control it. Anyway! My mama is very, very big, grey and has crystals the same color as my pink!" Peam explains.
"She has no legs, no arms, or anything really. She's just big and stoney. Like my dad!"
"Crystals, stony... I don't think you just need to go to Hallownest. Your goal might be the Crystal Peak. C'mon love bug, help me draw a map. Alcus, can you go get something to eat for us and your child's friend please?" Hermes grandfather says.
Alcus sits up and gives a warm pat to his child's head and walks off.
"Maybe you can show Largy? It is an aspiring map maker." Hermes suggests.
*Largy trills in anticipation, eager to get a map of a whole new Kingdom, much less one of someplace called the crystal peaks*
(crystal...peaks? Ooh that sounds exciting, maybe I can find something to augment my- wait...peam said her mother was a- oh dear...this does have me wondering how a crystal...dies.)
*all this while writing more notes*
Are the crystals special in any way?
What are they crystal peaks like?
Do you have any of those crystals here still?
What caused the crystals?
Was peam...actually I'll save this one for later.
How detailed is the map?
Are there any nooks or crannies I should know about too?
Do you want to see my maps? If you ever go to pharloom they could be useful.
Do you have any spare carrots here? Peam could use them.
"Oho, curious are we? Let's just say, don't listen to them. I heard tales of obsession for those crystals." She warns.
"I would say all the natural earth processes caused the crystallization but maybe all those supernatural stories were because of higher beings..." Her partner muses. "Anyways, we're mostly drawing this from what we remember all that time ago so I apologize for the lack of details."
"Honestly, it would be very nice to see your maps. I don't think we'll be leaving anytime soon, but at the very least we can see what other places are like." He continues. Just after, Hermes's grandmother yells out to her son to specifically come back with some carrots.
(interesting, if the crystals are the cause of obsession in some bugs then is it that they affect the neurological process? The circadian rhythm? It would make more sense given there's not much in the means of natural light...)
*some new notes*
Yes, higher beings are most likely the cause though the crystals themselves may have only been enchanted.
*with the prompt of wanting to see it's maps, Largy happily brought them out, showing off its extensive work of nearly every area in pharloom only missing the upper bilelands and half of mt fay, and the abyss, for obvious reasons.*
"Thank you, mister!" Peam grapples one and bites it with a crunch. They were about half her size now since she had grown.
"So now we go to meet mama?" she then asks Hermes. A little bit of chewed carrot escaped her mouth and fell on the floor. Peam jumped down and cleaned it up.
"Yeah, sure! We have directions from here to Hallownest, I am practically certified to make sure you get there safe-"
"Whoa hoh, with the cart tied to that charm, I know you'll be significantly slowed down. Let's call your sister, she is literally a guide." Their father interrupts.
"But, I said that I would get them there..." Hermes protests. "I could just leave it with you guys."
"I don't know the terms of your contract. Are you going to be safe at such a distance?" Alcus asks.
"..."
Hermes thinks for a moment, then he reaches into the cart for a piece of paper. They find the page he's looking for. "No."
"I'm getting our maskfly. Lao should be in Monadnock and it's really not that far." He writes a letter and calls down the little bug that was perched above them. "You don't have time to take care of your burden and get to Hallownest quickly. I think you should head to Fercity as soon as possible. Maybe you can join them later."
"Well... no, you're right." Hermes concedes. The maskfly takes off.
The beetle turns to their friends. "So, my sister is going to be coming soon. She's actually much more equipped than me and I have something I need to take care of. I'll try to be fast and join you quickly. My dad's right about this being an issue." He points at the charm on his sash.
"I think, that I am just going to go now. It's a bit of a walk." Hermes gives their dad a strong hug, swinging slightly. He turns to their friends and opens his arms to hug them too.
*Hermes' hug wraps around Largys shell, glad it finally has directions, it hugs hermes back with what it can. Then hands him one last note for now*
Thank you for guiding us this far, best of luck with getting rid of that charm, who knows, maybe you will catch up in time. But for now I think you should get going, time's not getting any slower for you now...and I don't think you want your liberation instantly.
*it turns to hermes's father, handing him a note*
So while we wait do you have any good literature I could study?
*Largy writes a note while giving hermes a little wave back*
I think I could take a script to study, and maybe some of the lengthier memoirs. I would like a large history book to perhaps understand more of what went on here.
Peam wakes up in Largy's shell, then peeks out and asks Hermes: "Are we there yet? I'm bored. Mama's impatient. I need to find her."

Peam wakes up in Largy's shell, then peeks out and asks Hermes: "Are we there yet? I'm bored. Mama's impatient. I need to find her."
She gives big eyes to the beetle.

Peam waddles as best and fast she can next to papa, huffing as she tried to keep pace. Walking had been her own idea, she wanted stronger legs so that she may look like the pretty lady she saw earlier. But, now, she was bored.
"Papa, can I fly a little, if I get some help? I promise to be careful."
@peam-heir-godess-of-time
*Largy hands Peam a note*
of course, I'll make sure the winds aren't too strong so that you don't go flying off again.
*it quickly hands Hermes a note too*
please be at the ready in case Peam goes flying off again.
*The brute looks on in pride as its companion manages to find her wings, even managing to let out some slight happy growls that didn't sound too aggressive for once. It wrote a note to hermes*
Isn't it wonderful? When a bug finds their wings for the first time?
"Oh, no no. My dad was adopted that's all. Since we need to go to Hallownest, I thought they could help us since that's where they immigrated from." Hermes explains.
"That and they would definitely know more about higher beings than I."
*Largy was frantically looking around, scanning the skies and working down to the roads only to find that peam was just...sitting there, like nothing happened. Yet another note is written*
How did you do that? Do your wings let you move at lightspeed or something?
"Oh, you can move again! I was trying to talk to you, but you wouldn't listen. I didn't know what to do. My powers didn't work, except for my wings which I didn't want to try again. It was so scary!"
She had been crying for fifteen minutes at that point, so her eyes were watery and the ground wet. Now she makes grabby hands, desperate to get picked up.
