the lazuli kingfisher is a member of the kingfisher family found in the indonesian islands of seram, ambon, and haruku. they are reclusive birds who aren’t overly social, often spending time singly or in pairs. both sexes are brightly colored, but females have a bright blue chest and belly, while males’ chests are a stark white. they are found in subtropical and tropical forest habitat, where they are unfortunately threatened by habitat loss. they primarily feed on grasshoppers and beetles.
